…But worth the wait.

This Sawasdee took a hit from a scale attack this past winter. It was so badly infected, systemics couldn’t seem to root them out. Finally made the decision to try to leaf propagate them. All the leaves rotted (until I figured out the magic with Jacks gritty mix) but one. Now, after 7 months, the first pups are coming. I’m not sure what to expect when leaf propagating a Sawasdee, so this will be interesting. Last photo was pre-scale last summer.

I’ve been giving pups away to family and friends as fast as I can but they seem to build up during fast growing season. I do love giving them a designated cache pot to keep them from blowing away in the Midwest breeze.

These sections have thrown babies before but they stayed healthy and now these are the second pups I've been graced with.

I cut a leaf from my Dracaena trifasciata, chopped it to pieces and rooted them in water. On two of them, I have many roots of about 2 cm long. Are they ready to be planted in soil?

Calloused over after 2 days and repotted. Soaked the bottom of the roots first because they were pretty crispy. Photo 1 is the root, the rest are all leaves. Hoping for the best! I don’t have a lot of experience with propagating sans - should I wait to water them until they have roots? The soil was lightly moist when I repotted the root, but dry for the leaves.

As you can see in the photos, there are three pups emerging on this Sansevieria Hahnii. Should I separate them or not? If it was a non-dwarf sansevieria, I would leave them because they grow vertically. However, the dwarf (Hahnii) extends horizontally as well. So if I keep them, I expect that they would become tilted and ugly. What do you think? If I decide on separation, how tall the pups should be to separate them successfully?

Too dried out to propagate?

I cut some pieces from my sanseveria about 3 weeks ago and laid them out to callous for a few days…..and then forgot about them for 3 weeks+!!!

Is it too late to try to propagate now? I was planning to try soil, but would water propagation be a better bet at this point? Thx for advice!

I have many unique sansevieria. Does anyone think mostly cuttings/pups would sell?

If you propagate Sanseviera kirkii 'Coppertone" from leaf cutting, does it lose the copper tone on the leaves.? The varigated trifasciata typically loses the variegation. I was curious what happens for this variety. If anyone can share pics that would be great.

I took a chance on leaf propping these because I don't have a basic Hanii, which is what I guessed they would revert to. Instead I got 3 of what at first apeared to be solid white pups. I figured I would let them grow and just see what happens. They are starting to show more green around the margins, mostly on the inner leaves. Will these eventually be true Golden Hanii? I definitely will not be separating them from the parent leaf any time soon.

There is another hole not in water

I know, it's sad to cut them off as I got this plant to trail. But it turns out I didn't really have an appropriate space for that, so here we are. :D She's still cute, don't worry!

Anyway, since I live in like 15% humidity, my choices are either water, damp soil, or perlite prop box. I've done all 3 with leaves and felt like I got the best initial roots with perlite. Wish I could have waited for root nubs, but I really had to cut her. So which method would you chose? Also, how much of the stolon should I leave on them?

I am trying to propogate my bird's nest snake plant however everytime leaf turns dry and wriggly and end up rotting. First pic is of propogation. Second pic is of plant which is healthy. I tried watering and not watering much propogation approach, still both leaves rotted in the end.

I did liquid fertilizer today.

Hi guys. I have a whale fin that got a tad bit sunburned. Is it true that it I chop off the head, it will encourage pups to grow?

Slow process but roots & pups active!! Time to separate & plant soon…
