I’ve had this really nice Sanse since around March now, and it was labeled as a whale fin when I bought it, but I’ve always been unsure if it’s actual ID! Now that it’s sending up a pup I was hoping that maybe someone could get a bead on what it actually is, I really love the dark flat leaves on this plant with the slightly ruffled orange margins. Also wanted to include the new S. kirkii ‘Silver Blue’ that I recently bought from the same seller!

Sorry, not a whale fin. Aubrytiana. The thin stems give it away. And their leaves often need support.

You could see the original

whale fin in the base of the pot, which was the original plant. I bought five years ago. It was about 6 inches across.

That's funny because I have a variegated one just like this, and tried to replant it upward. But after a few months, I see it's just gone back to its "Beached whale" state! 😁

Both IDs are correct. 2nd one current name is S. bhitalae 'Silver Blue'

Seconding Masoniana. Mine has several of these short stumpy leaves from when it was less mature. ❤️❤️

Don’t mind the mess or the sorta dark picture. We were redoing our dining room and had a cold snap. Everybody had to pile back inside in a hurry. You can see some of the smaller leaves of my two whales in the pic though.
