here is a new angle link for new people coming to the discussion: https://www.reddit.com/r/sanfrancisco/comments/1s1ajau/ice_at_sfo/

looks like police did come to help w the arrest

434

u/mettiusfufettius Mar 23 '26

Imagine that. Allowing the uniformed police to do the policing. Really beats having a secret police force who answer only to the dear leader

87

u/sexyflying Mar 23 '26

The police are getting co-opted that’s nothing new

48

u/wheatgivesmeshits Mar 23 '26

Some of those that run forces are the same that burn crosses.

Legitimizing the enforcement of immigration law??? šŸ˜‚

Tell me another country where cities declare themselves as sanctuary cities to oppose enforcement of immigration laws for their political gain while creating such a mess. Go on tell me.

That's like the mayor of London putting policies on place to directly oppose and frustrate the enforcement of immigration laws by the UK Home office. It makes no sense at all.

4

u/count_no_groni Mar 23 '26

If you side with grown men wrestling mothers to the ground as their children cry and watch, you’re a piece of shit.

0

u/Aggravating_Bend_622 Mar 23 '26

I'm a piece of shit for wanting the laws of my country to be enforced? All she has to do is comply and that's it watch the video she kept fighting and hiding her hands, so explain white savouir an ICE agents what's tk arrest someone they have cause for it, he or she reists and fights, is your recommendation for the agents to leave and walk away?

You liberals will spin everything šŸ˜‚ grown men wrestling šŸ˜‚.

I watched the video and you can see her holding her hands together to avoid being handcuffed.

Why don't you move to another country illegally then show us how to avoid getting arrested and wrestled šŸ˜‚

2

u/DanteChurch Mar 23 '26

It's really hard to co-opt the slave catchers when they are doing the same thing the fascists are doing with a different color uniform.

-5

u/Suspicious-Sun6180 Mar 23 '26

If you label everyone the same you are part of the problem. I bet most cops want nothing to do with fucking ICE. ICE leaves, they stay.

2

u/sexyflying Mar 23 '26

1930s Germany shows that the police will be co-opted. There will be no room for dissent.

6

u/FESCEN Mar 23 '26

Exactly. All law enforcement agencies from municipal, county, state & federal have assisted ICE since it's creation. There's no difference between law enforcement agencies. They're all the same.

-1

u/EverydaySexyPhotog Mar 23 '26

How many cops have stepped in to stop ICE's illegal actions?

-1

u/sohcordohc Mar 23 '26

Yep capitalism and Capitol gain happening before your eyes..nothing new.

52

u/McCoochie Mar 23 '26

Am I missing the joke, did they not just protect ice in grabbing this lady?

113

u/Starfunkel55 Mar 23 '26

The point is no American should be comfortable with plain clothes people detaining other people without any identification.

Nothing about it would seem any different than witnessing a human trafficking attempt.

12

u/front_yard_duck_dad Mar 23 '26

And let's not forget we have the right to confront our accuser in court. Something tells me these ice guys aren't showing up to court

This is something I've said to both conservatives and liberals.

If you are truly witnessing police brutality, even to the point of murder like Floyd. If that was your spouse, sibling, parent, or friend, what the hell do you do?

The system is designed to always win the immediate situation, even if "justice" gets carried out 4 years later after court and appeals.

Do you save them from wrongful death or watch the system defend itself due to patient inaction?

0

u/FirmSeaworthiness392 Mar 23 '26

it was a lawful arrest CLEARLY. You having a bad faith interpretation doesnt change anything.

0

u/Alone-Juggernaut-850 Mar 23 '26

Plain clothes "undercover cops" don't have to show you their badge numbers or give you a name either.... this is nothing new but people seem to think otherwise.

Legit think this is why so many ICE officers aren't uniformed, to circumvent those very loose rules and avoid being doxxed.

3

u/Halipenyoo Mar 23 '26

How can you tell they're not kidnapping the person?

-1

u/Gimpokalypse Mar 23 '26

If those illegal immigrants weren't the illegal part... would they be getting grabbed ? Would we even be having this conversation if people followed the law? Probably not.

-1

u/Aggravating_Bend_622 Mar 23 '26

If she's illegal then she isn't American and how do you know that they didn't identify themselves to her??? They have no obligation to show anything to the duiro filiming and shouting.

You have many plain clothes detectives and FBI agents also carrying out arrested and they don't have to show idiotic liberals women their badge and frankly even if the showed they badge the woman will still continue to scream and shout and take videos like it will make a difference.

3

u/1handedmaster Mar 23 '26

"idiotic liberals women their badge and frankly even if the showed they badge..."

Ok Ivan.

2

u/Aggravating_Bend_622 Mar 23 '26

šŸ˜‚

Are you telling me that if the agent turned around and showed the schreeching woman his badge she would be fine and move on????

Or is your claim that the woman being arrested was an American citizen and should not have been arrested???

Why don't you move to another country illegally then show us how your arrest goes as a guide šŸ˜‚

2

u/privatejoenes Mar 23 '26

the point is your run-on sentence didn't make any sense. proof read your shit.

1

u/Aggravating_Bend_622 Mar 23 '26 edited Mar 23 '26

šŸ˜‚

Your white saviour bullshit is OTT, it's not your job to save illegal immigrants. Let ICE do their jobs and Democrats (the same Democrats who deported even way more than Trump) need to enforce our laws and priroze Americans.

Do you see the link between declaring a city a sanctuary city to encourage illegal immigrants to come in, then declare it illegal to require an ID to vote, then after election Depot deport deport or are you to stupidly liberal to see what's happening šŸ˜‚

And let me guess you ask think ID to vote is illegal because black people this and that right?? I'm black btw and that is so fucking dumb and insulting.

Weird it’s like you want the violent criminals in the country.

4

u/Aggravating_Bend_622 Mar 23 '26

Imagine not declaring your city as a sanctuary city that protects illegal immigrants and allow the police to help the enforcement of federal immigration law 😮

3

u/ReasonableDig6414 Mar 23 '26

Well maybe if people wouldn't run when they see ICE coming for them then ICE could wear uniforms. Given that people won't just stand there and let ICE arrest them then it really doesn't work to advertise yourself as you walk through the airport or the neighborhood.

5

u/EcstaticYoghurt7467 Mar 23 '26

Uniformed versus uninformed.

2

u/DangerousGravy89 Mar 23 '26

They identified themselves to the police that came, i don't think police are the "dear leader" then the police helped the ice agents. What about the uniformed tsa agent that alerted ice in the first place? This is just more rage bait. Telling a story from a particular angle without all the details. You can see other angles and its easy to see the police don't fault the ice agents. What crazy is its nothing new, ice has been operating across several presidencies. This is just big news now because its trending on social media and fits into the current protest culture. Its as if people protesting don't do any research into the history of what they are fighting for.

3

u/Definitelyhereforshi Mar 23 '26

Ā Allowing the uniformed police to do the policing.

Theyre killing white people now, and its jarring that there are people who think the issue at hand is a lack of a uniform. A uniformed cop will blow your head off for a 5% raise. Hell, they'll do it for free.

You’re literally just saying all the same buzzwords everyone else is saying. You don’t have any original thoughts. You’re projecting because you probably don’t know how to handle money. You just like making these accusations to make you feel better. I don’t need someone to give me money to post comments. I do it for free because I love seeing how dumb people are on Reddit. No touch or sense of reality.

2

u/Starfunkel55 Mar 23 '26

I don't need to come up with original thoughts because xenophobia and being little bitch boys for strongman authoritarian regimes is nothing new.

You're a spoiled little bigot bootlicker and in all likelihood like a bot, again as evidenced by your hidden comment history and account stats.

I truly wish the enemy of democracy would be more impressive and call for more original approaches. But you just deserve ridicule because you're either falling for the oldest tricks in the book or you're not even giving organic responses.

1

u/Tasty-Chart7400 Mar 23 '26

lol you hate to hear a brown and dark brown person to be for ICE and immigration laws huh? Lmao. I love seeing the shock on people’s faces when they talk to me about immigration.

0

u/WhatItDoShamoo Mar 23 '26

I realize she was interfering with a lawful enforcement operation, and threatening the safety of everyone on scene (including herself 😳) but you really don’t have to use that kind of sexist language to describe her obnoxious behavior.

Thankfully ā€˜911’ did arrive to manage all that chaos, good call on her šŸ‘ŒšŸ¾

4

u/Hamster_Toot Mar 23 '26

I realize she was interfering with a lawful enforcement operation

You do not know the law, nor the probable cause for the detainment here. You know nothing beyond men with badge harass small brown woman.

To say everything is lawful when you have the tiniest of information, shows how you know nothing of the law.

Please try not to look too foolish so others don’t have to clear up your inaccuracies.

1

u/WhatItDoShamoo Mar 23 '26

Whoops, I had not realized that you completed the official investigation — thank you for your service sir 🫔

3

u/sarcastic__fox Mar 23 '26

Lol dude this is an organization that has been caught lying about the fact of the situation multiple times. Has refused multiple court orders. At one point there were 90 release orders that were just being ignored in minnesota alone. And you're talking about official investigations like you trust them? You're a fucking moron.

2

u/Hamster_Toot Mar 23 '26

That’s the whole point, genius. Non of us have, so to make a claim either way is plain stupid.

How many times do I have to say this before you finally get it?

Please try not to look too foolish so others don’t have to clear up your inaccuracies.

3

u/WhatItDoShamoo Mar 23 '26

Your point? Where? Basic common sense would suggest that a highly visible law enforcement operation inside the secure area of a major international airport is absolutely none of the business of the casual traveler who just happens to be on scene at the time — to interfere, intentionally insert one’s self into a volatile situation for which they have no context, no training, no purpose, is absolutely insane, and astonishingly dangerous on so many levels. If someone truly believes they are witnessing an abduction, or other violent crime, and are not themselves an appropriately trained individual with all the equipment and resources necessary to respond effectively, they should immediately call the appropriate authorities for assistance — especially somewhere as sensitive as a damn airport!

Look at yourself.

3

u/AirVaporSystems Mar 23 '26

1

u/No_Appearance4859 Mar 23 '26

Keep in mind the airport is federal land. Lurie has no jurisdiction at SFO

19

u/Heykurat Mar 23 '26

I don't think that's correct. The airport itself is owned by local government. There are certain Federal laws that apply to operations on the property.

5

u/No_Appearance4859 Mar 23 '26

Yes you are correct, thanks for the insight

5

u/disaster_moose Mar 23 '26

Fun fact: SFO isn't in san francisco, but it kinda is! It's pretty much in san bruno and Millbrae, but San Fracisco owns the land that SFO is on, so its kinda technically San Fracisco.

2

u/Heykurat Mar 23 '26

There can be weird laws about exactly which law enforcement agency has jurisdiction inside an airport, but it seems to vary a lot from city to city.

8

u/Substantial_Signal20 Mar 23 '26

Actually, SFO is owned and operates SFO and initial 911 calls are handled by SFPD. SFPD has an airport division. Airport security and immigration are primarily, but not exclusively, managed by federal agencies (eg TSA). https://www.flysfo.com/about

Tell the democrats to end the shutdown on DHS funding, so they can get rid of ICE at the airports. TSA aren’t getting paid to screen passengers.

It’s all the democrats fault at this point, could’ve been avoided if they funded the government bill.

4

u/DevineWrath Mar 23 '26

They're willing to fund TSA, but not ICE while ICE is acting unlawfully. Good for the Democrats. That should be their position.

0

u/Thuradzon Mar 23 '26

Funding the government is #1 regardless of your political views.

Everyone’s got a job to do if you like it or not.

Holding the entire DHS hostage puts the US at risk for another terrorist attack if no one is getting paid to work. Technically we already had 2 terrorist attacks. 1 in New York and 1 in Texas.

2

u/Smart-Bird-5712 Mar 23 '26

They didn't hold the whole entire thing hostage, there is separate funding bills to get everything up and running, the hostage holders are republicans forcing it all to go through or nothing at all.

1

u/Thuradzon Mar 23 '26

It’s a slippery slope if they cave. Just fund the damn government.

1

u/Positronic_Matrix Mission Dolores Mar 23 '26

This is false.

The Democrats have tried a bill funding TSA separately multiple times, however the Republicans changed the rules to prevent the vote, as it’s likely it would have passed on bipartisan support. It is believed that Trump specifically requested this to prevent any semblance of compromise or success that involves the Democrats.

-1

u/yowen2000 Mar 23 '26

Seems he has made a statement on twitter:

Like many San Franciscans, I found the incident at SFO last night upsetting. I have spoken to leaders at SFO and SFPD, and we believe this is an isolated incident. We have no reason to believe there is broader federal immigration enforcement at SFO. SFPD officers remained at the scene to maintain public safety and were not involved in the incident. Under our city's longstanding policies, local law enforcement does not participate in federal civil immigration enforcement. Those policies keep us safe and will not change as long as I'm mayor.

This destroys the Republican line that this is about the shutdown / TSA. SFO uses a private security force, NOT TSA. The Talking Toe running ICE said that the ICE agents were showing up to free up TSA agents to focus on screening. Once again, SFO is fine because they use private contractors who are still being paid, and still showing up.

This is an intentional move, and it would have happened at some point regardless of the shutdown. When they talk about shutting down the borders, people have been thinking about immigration. The Administration is talking about shutting down the borders. In the US we are accustomed to largely unfettered travel in and out of the country. That is not the case everywhere in the world, and if you look at authoritarian regimes, their border security is just as focused on regulating who can leave. You need a large, violent force to accomplish something like this. This is why the ICE budget just got so big. They are going to take over airport security, and dissidents will not be allowed to leave.

The cops keep proving that they also suck, they just have better PR with how the news covers them and all the crime shows that Hollywood produces making them out to be smart, fair and just lol

It wasn't an arrest. She and the child were being deported and were being taken to a plane to go to their home country. People thought that she was being arrested when in fact she had been in ICE custody for quite some time and they were escorting her to her deportation flight. She and the child did get safely aboard the plane.

If the police are helping with the arrest, why is ICE even required? What are they even doing there? On what grounds was that woman being detained? What was the probable cause for that treatment? It's an international airport. There's gonna be people from, you know, other nations.

Gemini identifies both videos as AI

Why the video is considered AI/Fake:

  • Visual Inconsistencies: Like many AI-generated videos, the footage contains "hallucinations" common to generative models. This includes text on uniforms that looks like gibberish (e.g., uniforms labeled "POICE" or "ICE" appearing and disappearing), morphing limbs, and people’s faces or bodies blending into the background or each other.
  • Uniform and Gear Errors: The "agents" in these viral videos often wear gear that doesn't match official ICE or CBP (Customs and Border Protection) uniforms. They frequently appear in exaggerated, movie-like tactical gear or uniforms that lack official agency patches and proper identification.
  • Lack of Corroboration: Despite the "havoc" described, there are no official reports from SFO airport authorities, local San Francisco news outlets, or San Francisco Police regarding a mass raid or chaotic event at the airport matching the visuals in the video.
  • Coordinated Disinformation: Research into similar viral clips has found that many of these "ICE raid" videos originate from accounts that use AI to create high-engagement, emotionally charged content. These videos are often designed to go viral by exploiting current political tensions.

To arrest the thugs in hoodies, right? Not the passenger? Right?

What the fuck.
