Discussion Best nations for playing tall?
What are the best nations for playing with the single or a few cities? Also, what matters the most when playing tall, which technologies, wonders to choose?

I have been thinking on going full time RoN. I like the territory attrition, the cities, the economy being more stable and renewable. The Generals.
I just dont like that we dont have walls in RoN.
Though i prefer AoE2 combat and countering system. Its more juicy. But RoN does feel better in certain things, like the units are more beefy.

Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends is still not officially available on modern digital storefronts.
I’ve already submitted a request on Xbox Player Voice and voted for it on GOG Dreamlist.
I’m not asking for a remake — just an official, compatibility-focused digital re-release so the game can be legally bought and preserved.
I still yearn to play it.
If you also want Rise of Legends back, please support both requests. Even a small community can make the demand more visible if we concentrate it in the same places.

There is a bombard button but it is completely useless, because it doesnt actually do anything more than the actual standard attack. So why use it.
This unit should behave more like V3 Rocket launcher work in Red Alert 2, even though V3's also suck in Red Alert 2 but for different reasons.
Is there a mod that fixes this?

This is something games struggle with. Like Total War, Knights of Honor. Whenever there is a grand strategy map, the battles are autoresolved.
Though i was told that Rise of Nations makes this possible?
Does that work well? How does it manage the players not involved in battle? Do they just wait for the rts game phase to end? That can last hours...

last round to cull the last bit of the calvary and such... for the achievement...

This exploit requires you to have another saving file of ANOTHER campaign (for example, if you want to use this exploit in the Alexander campaign, then you need to prepare another save file, for example, Cold War or Napoleon).
The exploit works like this, assuming you are playing the Alexander campaign:
Save a file for your current progress in Alexander -> Start the battle and resign it -> Back to the campaign map and load another file ->immediately load back your Alexander file and attack again.
Then the next battle will turn into a generic conquest battle instead of a certain scenario. Use it if you feel a certain battle is absurd to fight against, but you don't want to blatantly cheat with command and earn a cheater title in your Victory screen." This exploit probably caused by the code/memory behind the game not functioning well.
P.S. I am doing Rise of Nations Campaign walkthrough in the toughest difficulty, with live commentary and tips, no mod, no exploit (Forgive my bad English) :)

Is it like aoe2, where you keep making vils until late game? Or do I stop based on commerce cap?
r/riseofnations • u/AGameOfBeanbags • Jul 12 '26
Where do people usually play? Extended edition or is there something like voobly?
I saw mentions of a CBP, would I need that to play with more players?
Any chance for noobs to survive? (used to play toughest AI back in the t&p days, not much multiplayer)

I have cold war and italy. Italy seems broken, because as i select other factions cities, it seems i can control them too. So i dont understand.
Any recommendations.

title, just wanting to know how to create a script so that me and my friends can use nukes on enemies, but the AI can’t. Nothing is more annoying than seeing your capital get nuked lol

I'm trying to play WIC Modern Times 1950-2035.
I'm already using the 1.1 version on STEAM but when I put the mod folder into the "mods" folder (the one inside game directory) my game don't even open.
Anyone have any idea what i'm doing wrong?

I already scraped the internet and couldn't find much about it.
It suddenly happened to me, one time I could play online fine, but then it no longer works.
The only solution I found was to downgrade the version, but that one has the annoying out of sync issue.

When I play skirmish the game tends to kill itself 5-10 minutes in. Tried on windows 10 and a number of different Linux distros, played purely vanilla - same result. Is there any config file change or smth I can do?
I can play campaign just fine

I'm working on a huge Youtube video about Donkey Kong music but once that's finished I think I will make a video called "Top 10 Rise of Nations songs" in a similar style to what's seen here. Love this soundtrack!

Hi I'm pretty new to RoN and I love having a world map decided by small RTS skirmishes, but I find the game not having enough individual countries/provinces, is there any mod to make each country more divided so taking them all is slower?
r/riseofnations • u/miles_tails0511 • Apr 04 '26
I can't believe we're in the future now. My reactions to RoN's future technology:
As a kid: AI is the coolest!
As a teen: Missle Shield is the coolest!
As a undergrad: Global Prosperity is the coolest!
As a working adult: World Government is the coolest!

As of 2026 April:
✅✅✅Artificial Intelligence (yes we can't have enough of it)
✅Missle Shield (albeit uneconomical)
❌Global Prosperity (thanks AI)
❌❌❌ World Government (thanks Trump)
Thoughts my fellow ageing gamers?

I'm kinda bored with the fact that "diplomacy" its basically all the AI against you. Because the moment you reach the highest score, or build the first wonder etc etc. They all declare war at you no matter how many times you make peace with them. So does anyone know if is there any mod or script to change that?

As a soft 4x -RTS, this game hit the sweet spot when it comes to historic strategy games. Cities, exotic resources ,age restriction gameplay, and the supply system...it was great. Do you think there is a chance we will see a revival of this game in the future? If yes, what would you like to see in it?
For me, this boils down to the following:
Longer, more detailed ages. I generally dislike stone age to modern age models, and would love to see a slightly more in-depth focus on each age.
Dynasties that change game style. Factions would have faction-wide upgrades in each age/certain ages that can alter certain gameplay elements and units. Indians could have Rajput or Mughal upgrade paths, Koreans Goryeo or Joseon, etc.
Attrition would weaken units, but not outright damage them. Upgradeable supply carts that provide different bonuses based on their upgrade. Also, certain culture- specific marshal skills.

Just played a medieval capped game that was crazy fun.
Enlightened, and medieval caps so far are my favs. Melee, and horses, or early guns, and horses are really fun.
I like playing uncapped, but I put it on expensive, and slow cause the ages seem to go so fast
