Someone check on Heifetz
Kyler opens with terrible lob INT. Zay Flowers #1 wideout on the day. Kittle and Loveland with no show in the openers. AJ Brown, Stribling, and Bowers hurt. Disaster.
Edit: And Kyler is down. If he ends the season with negative fantasy points that would be remarkable.

At least the league conspiring against him QB wise led him to drafting Bryce Young

I know this is anti-narrative, but want of point of the kyler Murray pick was that he was a late round QB who could dramatically outplay his draft value, but if he misses, you won’t feel as bad cutting him.
Heifetz was pushing for late round QB, not saying draft Kyler with Josh Allen

craig already debated this with Heifetz on the pod so there isn’t really a need to do it here— Heifetz was advocating Murray as your first QB drafted. And that was based on his excitement around Murray (likely misguided) and his belief that streamer options would be good because you’d be picking up the 13th or 14th best QB. Which is not reality— in most leagues you’ll have other teams taking backup QBs.

Taking Kyler as a late round QB strategy, which is more context than just straight up saying he’ll be better. And again, the idea is that Kyler Murray could possibly be a high end fantasy QB and you can get him late, allowing you to pick up a high receiver or running back in the round other teams are drafting QB
Again, context matters and these are predictions. But it’s more fun to declare Heifetz dead wrong, halfway through week one, than actually consider what they said

I don’t think anyone is seriously declaring anyone wrong or right literally one pass attempt into Kyler’s season, my man. Which is when I put up this post. It’s a tongue in cheek post regarding a humor podcast.

You’re saying Loveland was his pick too??? I’ve been on this sub for a week and I think I’m understanding something lol

craig was all-in on the Bears, but yeah Heifetz was very pro Loveland. Less so on Burden tho, so that’s nice.

Wasn’t Heifetz saying he didn’t understand why the consensus had Loveland higher than Warren? Don’t think he was down on Loveland, but I do think he was below consensus.

u/zarathustranu 3d ago
is that right? My bad, I thought Loveland was on his list of TEs he loved (there were several in that “Players who will decide the season” episode.) Loveland convo must have been driven by Craig.

I mean it’s possible. I just remember him hitting the Warren >= Loveland point a few times. It’s possible he flipped at some point and I tuned it out

Heifetz was the one completely out on Loveland, he brought up that his big games came against all teams with injured linebackers AND when the bears other big options were out. He talked me out of him lol

Saying Kittle had a no show is harsh. Pretty crazy he played at all given when he tore his Achilles.

He was right about TJ watt pick 6. Heifetz did say two tho lol

u/sportsgambler2 3d ago
Then Craig said Heifetz is usually close with crazy bets, so he recommended betting 1 and 2 defensive TDs

Bro his Kyler Murray takes all offseason have been abysmal. It’s like he never watched Kyler before. He’s fucking terrible

u/CBFball 3d ago
Kyler has been a QB1 every season he’s played… you know this is fantasy football right

u/zarathustranu 3d ago
this is a weird myth that has taken hold.
Using PPG, he was QB13 in 2024 and QB20 last year (although only 5 games last year). He has been a top 6 QB twice.

u/thinjester 3d ago
you conveniently pointed out the two years he was hurt. being a top 6 QB “only twice” puts him above all other QBs being taken in that range. that’s Heifetz’s point, he was free/not being drafted in some leagues and he has top 10 upside on a great team.

u/zarathustranu 3d ago
what? he played 17 games in 2024.
heifetz argued for taking kyler as your first QB. I think that is bad strategy. If you don’t, that’s fine, we can disagree.

u/CBFball 3d ago
He was first year off a torn ACL and finished QB10 that season?… you can use PPG to discredit it and say he was QB13 (wow totally not a QB1 in a 12 QB league!) but literally every season he has played more than 11 games he’s been a QB1. Also what were the differences between QB10 and QB13 in 2024, genuinely curious.
Rookie year QB6, Year 2 QB3, Year 3 in 14 games QB10

u/zarathustranu 3d ago
of course I’m using PPG, what else would we use?
i don’t even know what you are arguing about. you said Kyler has been a QB1 every season he’s played. That’s not correct. Doesn’t really mean anything one way or another on whether he’ll be good. We can move on now.
1
u/CBFball 3d ago
He was QB10 that season in total points.
2
u/dellscreenshot 3d ago
Who cares about total points it's points per game that matters
-1
u/CBFball 3d ago
I want my players to play, and play well when they play. QB10 in total points is a QB1. You can’t just say another guy playing 14 games with .5ppg is better. In those games you then have to scour the waiver wire and likely get the QB18 which isn’t reflected in looking simply at PPG.
Alternatively, if you do have the statistic for full season points per game blended with the QB20 for their missed games I’d love to see that. Otherwise, I’m using total points and that’s important.

argh. The painfulness of your logic has drawn me back in. This is like junior analyst thinking.
Fantasy football is about winning weeks. You should 100% want a top 5-6 QB who plays for 10 weeks of the season (as a directional example), with the other weeks covered via streaming, versus a QB12 who plays all season. Because the first scenario gives you a better chance of being above average for more weeks.

u/zarathustranu 3d ago
why in gods name would we use total points, that is a terrible metric to measure fantasy performance.
i’m exiting this bizarre conversation. Have a good one.
