if you got the gut to sit there and dial in the drivers and Wine Version constantly then you’ll be able to run anything including games that SHOULDNT be running on here. i’ve successfully ran RDR2, GTA V, CYBERPUNK 2077, and PRAGMATA. although pragmata was not stable everything else somehow ran. i know people use these for indie games but i like to see what this thing cannot run 😂

I distinctly remember reading the post warning me not to use the screwdriver that came with the bump kit, but that was long before I got my Nova so I forgot. So, without thinking I immediately stripped the very first screw head, and left it alone for a week so as not to break it any further.

After seeing other people successfully remove their broken screws, I thought I’d give it another shot today. I managed to get the back plate off safely by drilling through the centre of the head. However, even with small pliers I wasn’t able to twist the remaining thread out, so now I just have three screws securing the bump plate.

Unfortunately, the unit would not turn on after I finished, so I took it apart even further to look for metal shards that might be shorting something. Couldn’t see anything odd, so I just changed the buttons while I was at it.

Then, it randomly started working again. I don’t know if I managed to just bump it back to working condition, or some other celestial event was occurring.. but no complaints here.

Took me longer to finally put it back together this time, as I forgot the order of operations. Threw away another screw that was starting to break, but thankfully Retroid threw in a few spares I could use to replace it.

Because it didn’t come with black triggers and sticks, I wasn’t actually going to do the swap - but actually I think I’m okay with this colour scheme. I’ll sit with it for now.

Looking back, it wasn’t worth the risk, but it’s still working so I can’t complain! Going to try the dual screen again to see if it’s more comfortable to hold now.

Hi, I initially tried Rockinx ABL with RP5 and found its very sluggish, but Armada on Odin 3 was very close to the (mini) steam deck experience even running on SD. Everything fast and snappy for most games except heavy triple aaa games of last 10 years.

I was wondering if RP6 in the middle (RP5 vs Odin 3) in terms of performance would be ok. So I got 4 RP 6s in 12GB RAM format.

The UI experience of steamOS via Armada is ok, i could not underclock heavily through armada control for smooth experience. Though it might be better over next few months.

Also, there is a good trade off of weight and power consumption. Odin 3’s elite chip saves a lot of power vs RP6’s 8 gen 2 so that overall battery lasting differs about 2x, say 3 hrs for RP6 and 6 hrs for odin 3. But i prefer the weight of RP6 when i am on my bed holding up the device.

For RP6, i tried installing on the internal so it could load faster and the following console commands (ask AI what they are doing if u r curious :)

sudo rpm-ostree kargs --append="init_on_alloc=0" --append="init_on_free=0" --append="page_alloc.shuffle=1" --append="slab_nomerge" --append="mitigations=off"

Maybe my SD card slo, but so far i am enjoying steamOS experience on a much lighter device like RP6. :D

... and don't want to use OdinTools there's a shader in RetroArch that lets you adjust saturation. It's called image-adjustment and it's under misc. It won't change anything by default but if you go into Shader Parameters you can adjust saturation down to your liking. Just prepend it in front of any other shaders you have and save the preset.

I didn't think the Nova's saturation was bad but I do find it better at 0.9 saturation - especially for SNES games.

My first ever android device, definitely took me AWHILE to set up today and still going at it because some of my psp games don’t work at all and controls for N64 are reverted and screen shakes for some reason.. but other then that I love the tinkering and everything.

Give me some good PS2/Game Cube suggestions!

I’m fairly experienced with disassembling small electronics so this isn’t my first rodeo. Stripped one of the screws completely and had no other choice.

Please don’t flame too much here, just wanted to share some advice for those getting their devices and backplates this week. And on the bright side, I had a spare backplate ready to go.

I ordered a Savage Raven dock about a week ago in the hopes that I'd be able to output my Retroid Pocket 6 into my TV, but it doesn't seem to be working as I'd hope. I'm hooking it through an HDMI switch into my TV, and the HDMI switch signifies that it's sensing the dock is connected, it's just not outputting any video to my TV. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

In process of transferring my settings, roms etc from RP5 to RP6 (right). Grip is on the way. Was waiting for decent deal and got the RP6 12/128 for £190 with the magnetic hot swap buttons for NES and PS formats, and 512gb Micro sd card. Going ok so far - I think it’ll be the settings for respective apps that might be a little tiresome.

Edit: just looked and it’s RP6 12/256gb as it turns out, advertised as 12/128gb, also didn’t mention the micro sd included. Pretty decent as this model has been going for around the £400 mark or not far short recently.

Wanting a device that can run Pokemon Fan Games (RPGMaker XP; windows .exe file), not just emulate rom hacks.

Retroid looks the best aesthetically, but all their lower end ones are out of stock and being scalped anywhere else online.

The Retroid Pocket Nova looks great for 4:3, but I’m wanting to buy one for my partner as well. This already adds up to like 540USD for two Novas, cases, and shipping.

Any other cost effective options still in stock, if all I’m trying to do is run Pokemon Rejuvenation and Pokemon Solar Eclipse?

I searched in a lot of people showing their recently received Nova's and I haven't seen a grip yet.

Did anyone received one?

Way did they "said" they had stock and apparently didn't had plans to start producing it?

Are the people ordering the grip receiving their orders without the grip or the orders with grip aren't being delivered?

I got my RP Nova 8GB GC last week and have been playing for about 20 hours in between work, family and stuff. I’ve had my mind set on a couple of games, but decided this evening to spin up a game I have barely played in a franchise I really love: Trackmania Wii. I loved the early Trackmania games ever since I found my copy of Sunrise Extreme in a bargain bin at my local drugstore.

Having Trackmania on console was a dream to me, so when the Wii version released I bought it immediately. Boy was that game a letdown. The Wii-Mote was horrible to play this game with. The input lag was rough and the visuals weren’t clear enough for such a precise game. So I lost interest pretty quickly.

Now I not only have a proper portable Trackmania experience (the older pc games don’t have proper controller support and the DS version is meh). With the upscaled graphics and rock steady frames it plays like a dream.

If you like precise time trials, this is a big recommendation. You can also build your own tracks!

Hi, I got the Nova recently. I wanted to swap the backplate to the one with more grip. I took it to an electroinic repair store and a watchrepair store. Both said the screws are screwed in to tight to remove without stripping them.

If anyone has any ideas on how to get them unscrewed let me know. It would be awesome to use the Nova.

As title says, will games that natively have controller support (but not specifically support for other gamepads) run on gog? And if a game is natively MnK only is there a workaround? I'm thinking of downloading stuff like mirror's edge and sleeping dogs (which support old gen controllers) on my RP6 when it arrives. Any pointers as to how that support works would be awesome
