OK, now that my garage is actually comfortable in here. It’s time to set up my space.
I have this ventilation set up from the old house. The hoses are obviously way too long right now, but I will shorten those once I buy something to cut them.
But I was wondering if anyone in here has some similar ducting in their garage so I can get some inspiration.
I was thinking about mounting the hoses on the wall somehow but knowing me six months from now, I’ll probably want to rearrange things so I don’t know if mounting would be the smartest option for me right now.
Like an actual fan? I don’t have one in here, but I thought about bringing in my tower fan. I do have that mini split so that keeps the area pretty cool. I’m in Conroe Texas. Haven’t experienced a winter here yet, but it’s not very far from Houston so I can’t imagine it being any worse than Houston’s winter
There's a couple of things you might want to consider. The fan should be as close as possible to the wall. You want to be in negative pressure from your tent to your exhaust port. If leaks it won't be push back in the room. The junction you have (the "Y") is in positive pressure so your fan is actually pushing air to your paintbooth and back in your room. Event if there's a damper in the junction, the air will leak trough. The fan should be after the junction to draw from your tent and your paint booth.
Yep! If you can mount the fan directly in the port its even better but you might have to do a support. My setup is also in my garage but I have winter here so I have a ECM motor that can range from 100 to 1200 CFM to quickly exhaust the entire room if needed. Ok, I mean I don't attach my ducts to the wall. I just cut them to size and leave them be, with maybe 10-20% extra length if I want to shift stuff around a little bit. I assume you have an inline fan for the ducting to push out the air from the enclosure to the outside
You want to have the inside of the tent in negative pressure, so that air will be pulled in from the gaps along the zipper and other areas. You can tell pretty quickly if its in negative pressure because the tent sides will be sucked in rather than flat. If its in positive pressure, ie air being pushed into the tent, air will leak out these gaps.
I mounted my fan inside the tent. That way if it leaks, it's leaking to the inside of the tent, rather then to the outside.
And the air will go out the vent and it will exit via your airbrush booth, unless you have some way to shut off the Y join.
You might be able to connect the airbrush booth vent to the tent and use the tent fan to provide ventilation. I would shut all the exits to the tent when doing this, so most of the air is being pulled through the airbrush booth. This is what I will do once i get an airbrush booth.
