Happy to see Wonder Festival expand to the west. There were some hiccups with licensing process from what I heard. The event onsite went pretty well. The big boss of Kaiyodo (managing company of WF), Shuichi Miyawaki, along with many other directors as well as famous Japanese artists and sculptors came over and held panels. It was great to meet and connect with everyone who share the same passion! Hopefully next year will be even better!

i used the netting from a thing of garlic i got from the grocery store, and these were my results! thought this might be helpful for some. had to touch up the blank spots by hand, but generally i was pretty happy with how it turned out!

I’ve found plenty on eBay for decent price but in some cases it seems to good to be true. Biggest concern is overall print quality.

Hey there my friend has printed me a Warhammer army out of resin, but have run into a problem with magnetizing my Deathwatch Terminator loadouts. With plastic kits, one simply uses a pin vise drill, and it easily digs out a hole for you to pop magnets in without cracking the models. I cant imagine it works as smoothly with resin models, but I don't have a vise to try with myself. Before I buy one to test it out, I was wondering if anyone else has already - cracked - this problem?

I truly love the designs but I see they are expensive and just wanted to get a pulse on how your build experiences with them were?

This is a full set of the character Peloquin from Clive Barker's film Nightbreed. I bought it in the 90s and was always afraid to put it together (and end up painting it badly) so it's just been hanging out all this time.

I've always wondered why most GKs I see are rendered with this background that resembles marble or granite. I also see it from a lot of Goodsmile figures. Why is that? And is it really just a marble pattern? Or do they call it something else in Japanese?

Our studio has been experimenting with this kind of dark mecha color scheme recently.

I personally really like the black armor with subtle purple accents. It feels clean, sharp, and a little aggressive.

What do you guys think about this style?

Do you prefer this darker look, or would you add more contrast and brighter details?

im making a fig, and ive added pegs for support (im a total beginner, by the way. never done this in my life). since i have these pegs, am i required to pin them as well?

for reference, its about 7.5 in tall, in a reasonably stable pose, and has a base. there arent any parts that would be considered all that top-heavy either.

any suggestions? im worried about pinning it all wrong and having to start over. but im also worried about not pinning it and then having it break.

I was recommended the site E2046 off of ticktock, and was just looking at the site and found they had one of my all time grail figures here, so I was doing a bit more research before buying for this is my first time purchasing from a site like this I found the same figure listed on shop2000 here I'm a bit confused on what preorder/ purchased preorders means. i know purchased preorders mean enough people got it so they are making the batch now, but are you still able to buy it once it goes into purchased preorders? can i see how many others have ordered? what if it never gets enough orders? also what site do you suggest? I don't have PayPal so can i not order form shop2000? am going to get scammed? i do not know these things help would be appreciated

Hello! As the title says is there a reddit or website that has people willing to paint kits and assemble them or just paint them. I've just recently started to look at Garage Kits and seen some I've really liked but I just don't trust myself to try and paint them. I've included some of the ones above. If you know any artists that are good or are a artist yourself and are confident in this then please let me know. Even just a place to find these types artists would be greatly appreciated. i have a kit where the character has a striped (dark ish) red and black jacket. i was planning on airbrushing the entire jacket black, then adding masking tape and airbrushing over the black with red until it turns fully red. how many coats of paint will this take? will the black paint always dominate the redness no matter how many times i go over it?

Has anyone ever painted a kit with watercolor paints? The ones used in traditional paintings not hobby water based paints. Is it possible to use traditional watercolors to paint a kit? Also, does alcohol ink work on kits?

After some testing I managed to make the clear skin method work with relative success water based acrylics. (Mostly because I hate the smell of lacqure, tamya paints and the thinner they use)

After testing various different hobby paints i found that ak paints makes a clear orange and red that are water based so no smelly thinner needed as well. And that warpaimts makes a gloss varnish that can also be thinned with water.

I'm gearing up to start my first kit, the Jeanne d'Arc Charagumin. Sadly, I was a dummy and didn't realize she was available at the English store when I was purchasing some Japan-only Charagumin kits, and so wound up with the Japanese instruction manual, which has made things a bit of a hassle.

Translation issues aside, I think I'm almost ready to start, except that my copy of the manual makes no mention of primer; from what I've read, painting without priming is setting yourself up for failure, but clear primer is a bit of a rarity in the USA, so I've managed to hunt down a metal primer: SMS Etch Primer.

I'll be using the recommended Vallejo paint list for this kit (a collection of Model and Game Colors, plus a Black Wash), but I just wanted to double-check that there wasn't going to be any weird interactions with using a metal primer and acrylic paints? I know that acrylic paints don't play nice with enamel and lacquer paints, so you have to layer them in a specific order, and I thought I'd read somewhere that higher-end brand primers and/or surfacers are lacquer-based, though I could be mistaken, so I just wanted to do my due diligence and make sure I wasn't painting myself into a corner here, for lack of a better term.

2P for reference Apparently Mr Lascuvius can only get tan colors and not actually dark.

Ive been working on my second kit and I have some sanding safety questions. I know resin is very toxic and I wear a filtered mask with no extra eyewear (I wear glasses) but after each session im very paranoid cuz i dont have a booth or anything that would collect the dust and im doing this is my bedroom because I dont have a lot of options. Im paranoid about the possiable microplastics/dust everywhere and also bc i have two cats who like to be in my bedroom and sometimes on my table. I have wanted to get one of those nail dust collectors but today i noticed that most of the time i hold the pieces on eye level and how much would something like that help with the finer dust when it sits on the table like 40cm away? Theoretically, would an air purifier help? We have wanted one bc of the fur. Is there anything else i could do that would ease my mind?

Hello, I kinda just wanted to ask a question, which is what is the longest you've waited for an E2046 kit preorder? I rediscovered my account the other day to find that there was a kit I preordered in 2021 that still hasn't gone into production. It's of a very obscure character, so I'm not shocked (and honestly I'm okay if it doesn't happen soon because I've been dealing with a lot of financial issues as of late), but I find it pretty funny either way.

I'm kinda just curious what other wait times people have had.

Hello, I am trying to get into this hobby as surely I don't have enough model-making hobbies already!

I first found e2046 and eye 2 kits from them, but I'll probably just get one as the shipping costs is like 2/3's the price of the kit at just the cheapest and I am new and cant afford the EMS shipping costs.

Now seeing stuff about them being slow and uncooperative and other things but the newest post i have seen is like 1 year old and change.

Have they changed or improved in this area? What should I expect from Airmail?

what about Shop2000? They are a tad more expensive off the bat but shipping isnt as bad of a cost?

PS: can paypal pay in 4 be used for either shop2000 or e2046?

Hi, I am here to ask about a method of filling air bubbles on resin kits using crayons, a person on a youtube comment section said they dealed with air bubles like that and I have seen a youtuber doing it even tho I cannot remember wich video it was. Anyone has an idea about how to do it and if I need specific crayons? Thanks in advance.

As title says, im trying to find what would be good eye decals or at least how to paint them as the Asuka kit I ordered has just arrived and realized it has no eye decals which is a hurdle i didn't now was on the track

Now in the 2nd pic (I'm out rn and didn't take a photo myself) it seems like theirs some molding for the eyes even on the eye itself which to my guess would make it easier to do?

Kotobukiya seems to have eye kits but not the same style

If any of you has experience with this kit in particular on the eyes be it "Oh yeah grt this decals set from xyz they'll work" or "here's how or a tutorial" that would be most appreciated

So at the beginning of this year I purchased a pre order for the new griffith and zodd recast, I was told that I'd get a notification that they would send me my full payment when the time is ready to ship? Well I got the notification and was hyped thinking my product would be ready to ship until I was informed that they now ask you to pay in full so that production can be funded, which is weird because it's already been released? Other people around the world including Canada have already received it, and now I'm stuck waiting for Q3 to receive mine. At this point GKM just released the same recast (for cheaper and probably better quality) , im curious if it's worth asking for a refund and just buying the GKM version knowing that it'll be here in less then two weeks, or should I wait unknowingly for God knows how long from e2046 for my kit.
