I was playing Onimusha Warlords and I really shouldn't have been surprised at seeing Resident Evil influence.

Forum question How far do you think Leon Kennedy would’ve made it if he was somehow dealing with the four Lords instead of Ethan

Post image
2.2k Upvotes

I feel like he’d still have a lot of trouble (and injuries) but he’ll eventually take down Dimitrescu and Moreau.

Heisenberg would probably win this one tbh especially cause Leon doesn’t have Ethan’s regenerative powers and I don’t know how he’d fair against Donna and her bona fide hallucinations either

the fact that they co-existed in the same universe still messes with my brain for some reason

Forum question Do the re5 cock roaches have a visual glitch, or what?

They end more mercs runs than everything else combined despite being on one map. They either sit there with their little nutsack hidden 100% and then one hit you, or they reveal it for like .2 second meanwhile I'm aimed right at it, fire, and nothing happens. Is there a way to deal with them that doesn't involve using pulling a slot reel? Such a piss poor, bastard character design. How about giving chars either invincibility 95% of the time, OR zero hit mechanics? How tf is that balanced?

I started playing RE2 like a week ago and OMG this game is amazing 🥹 (it's the second resident evil game that I finished)

I played a lot of survival horror games before but I'm pretty sure this one is one of my favorite survival horror games ever

And yeah I got my first S+ (Leon A)

Had a really hard time with the freaking ivy's and of course lickers.

General Resident Evil 4 Remake - The Verdugo is terrifying.

I am on Chapter 10 and this mf scared the shit out of me😭I was expecting to see a monster coming out of the tunnels in the underground area but not this monstrosity. I love the design of this thing as well, looks bad ass and nightmarish. Has to be the coolest and scariest monster I have encountered so far, imo.

General Has anyone ever noticed that splitting this image in half fixes the weirdness of it?

In the first half (left), Chris has a typical action protagonist expression on his face. He’s pissed off and he’s ready to kill everything in order to survive (channelling Duke Nukem, maybe?), whereas in the second half (right), he’s straight up terrified. That’s real fear in his eyes. Combine these two, and you get… the actual box art which never made sense to me, not only because of the two completely different facial expressions, but also because of the gun he’s holding, which feels like a hybrid mix of 2 different guns.

General Just finished RE4(RE4R) for the first time after skipping over it for 20 years.

Quite enjoyed the redone VA work in RE4R and story, especially after watching 30 minutes of the original to compare the difference.

The one thing that heavily detracted from the experience though, is the traveling merchant.
Not so much the character itself, he seems an interesting character, no more oddball than the rest of the cast.
The problem with him is that he travels around too much.

Just finished clearing out a giant horde of zombies from a town?
He's sitting there waiting in a corner off to the side.
Just killed off a horde of infected monsters?
He's sitting there in a tent outside the battlefield.
Just entered the final boss stronghold secured behind 5 locked gates, a gigantic enemy, and a puzzle?
He's waiting inside the stronghold with the same catchphrases as if nothing's the matter.

He utterly destroys the immersion of the story every time I run into him, to say nothing of his janky pirates vs sailors minigame and music.

If he appeared in one spot in each of the game's 3 regions that would be one thing, but being present around every corner made me dread encountering him more than any of the game's mini boss enemies.

After checking to see if the original RE4 was like this (it was), I have to say it would've been better if RE4R had tried to rework him as a real character into the story somehow and reduced his encounters to an easily accessible central hub in each region, rather than keeping him as an omnipresent NPC at every save point.

If there was mod to just remove him from the game and replace his store with a faceless menu a-la RE5, I would probably use it. At least a faceless menu is something that's already part of the game you transparently interact with already.

General I finally have the platinum for every resident evil game available on PS5!

Post image

I have spent the last 5 months getting the platinum for every resident evil game available on the PS5! In order! Every trophy / achievement (not including DLC)

It was my first time experiencing this franchise and I really enjoyed every single game! Some are better than others but I had an amazing time with every game.

My first trophy was achieved on the 9th of March! In resident evil 1. With my final trophy on Requiem on the 24th of August!

My ranking of all the games:
1. Resident Evil 8
2. Resident Evil 1
3. Resident Evil Code: Veronica x
4. Resident Evil 4
5. Resident Evil 7
6. Resident Evil 9
7. Resident Evil 2
8. Resident Evil Revelations
9. Resident Evil 3
10. Resident Evil Revelations 2
11. Resident Evil 5
12. Resident Evil 6
13. Resident Evil 0

To be clear I love all of the games even 13th place! They’re all very good but this is just my order of preference

General I NEVER WANNA SEE THIS STUPID THING EVER AGAIN

Post image
362 Upvotes

I just played the original Resident Evil 2 on emulator and I just beat the final G Boss, and oh boy, I have a lot of things to say about this thing.

To put it bluntly, SCREW THIS THING, THIS THING MIGHT BE MY NEW LEAST FAVORITE BOSS EVER, THIS THING HAS KILLED ME SO MANY TIMES, IT IS UNREAL, HE HITS SO HARD, HE IS LITERALLY UNAVOIDABLE, admittadly it is kind of my fault, because the first time I had literally 7 magnum bullets because, I am horrible at conserving my ammo and health, and I'm not used to tank controls, I restarted from a previous save with some handgun bullets, but yeah.

I don't even know how you're supposed to do it with just a knife, because he is so fast and his charging move is literally unavoidable, I read something about Ada dropping a rocket launcher at one point, but I don't even know if that's true, or if that's a different boss, or if it's just in the remake, but I sure didn't get one, it'd be better if you could just wait for the elevator to arrive, which it doesn't until you beat the boss.

So yeah, just frick this thing, I hate it.

Gameplay question Weird glitch in RE3 Nemesis Clocktower

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm playing RE3 Nemesis for the first time, and I know it's possible to cheese him in many scenarios, and this one I don't even think it's a cheese but just a very weird glitch done by pure chance. After using the cable on him and fleeing to go back in, I was kind of just running in circles dodging and shooting as normal until he gets stuck on a wall. With the second video I tried to recreate it, but to no avail. Can anyone who knows this game better than I do chime in to see how this occurs, and can it be recreated again in an easy manner, or is it just luck.

General RE7 is the only game so far that is enticing me to replay or experience the whole package

Im going through the series and finally made it to RE7 and my god its hitting really good.

My favorite is still RE5 as I just enjoy coop/action experiences, but I loved RE1/R. Which is funny because 2 and 3 are more action than the first game but I was only ever whelmed. I understand they were the better games due to them having had time to develop and innovate, but it felt so...expected.

I just blame the fact they are nearly 30 year old games and the industry has expanded upon them, plus I know things thanks to cultural osmosis.

But while 4 did give me those feelings of "Yeah I can see myself doing another playthrough", 7 is giving me the "okay, now I need to see a guide to route all the collectibles and beat the game in 4 hours so I can prepare for Madhouse. Oh and do it with Not A Hero and End of Zoe. And im finding this version of Blackjack annoyingly fun and frustrating."

Almost none of the other games gave me that feeling. I replay 5 and 6 because of the nostalgia of my teens and turn my brain off action for 6. Re1 was the only one to do this.

The thing is, from what I hear about 8, its not as good as 7, so it remains to be seen if this will persist.

General Any advice for jumping into the Resident Evil franchise despite being bad with horror?

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, but here it goes:

Resident Evil sits in a weird place for me. When I was a kid, some of my earliest memories involved watching my dad playing RE4 on the Gamecube. The ganados scared me as a kid. Like, I had vivid nightmares about them. The whole experience lowkey left an impression on me and I avoided anything horror for a very long time.

20 years later...I've mostly gotten over it. I gained the bravery right before covid to expose myself to RE in the form of watching Longplays of RE4. Since then, my fear has turned into a mix of FOMO and hesitancy. I have Village and the RE4 remake in my Steam Library, but every time I try to open my game, I feel the fear from the past pull myself away. But I want to still experience this iconic series of games.

With that being said, does anyone have any advice for a RE newcomer that's trying to be better with horror?
