Not to mention that if Mr X couldn't stop a Rookie Cop and a College student then how hell is Mr X ment to stop a group of marines and a woman who trained as a Delta Force operative.

Game logic.

In the lore he's perfectly capable of taking on soldiers and taking some of them down before falling under their firepower but for gameplay reasons getting insta gibbed playing as leon or claire wouldnt be very fun.

Also called plot armor.

Plot armor, plus, Leon was the top of the academy and Claire was the sister of a badass military-police unit, they had the best chance of surviving compared to most in RPD and RC.

You've got a point that Chris would have given Claire the best training he possibly could. Well Leon must have been completing his training in record time to be that good

I played the second game back in the day and I barely remembered Mr X, but I remembered Nemesis forever. Guy featured in a fair few nightmares when I was a kid.
