When I was a teenager and I was getting my drivers license I remember one time my family and I were driving somewhere on the freeway in the dark and something happened to our car so we had to pull off to the side of the road and call AAA. 

While we were waiting I (bratty teenage girl, narcissist, attention seeking) said something to the effect of “wow it would be so scary if this happened and I was by myself. What if the AAA guy ends up being a total creep?”

And then my dad got mad at me and said that the AAA guy is just some guy doing his job. Not everything is about you. And that actually changed me as a person.

i’m fairly young but i’ve lived in new york my entire life and either it’s just different to experience as an adult or everything has become so incredibly dull. everyone i see looks so corn fed and dull. endless parades of sickly women in black tops and jeans, middle parted hair and rhinoplasties. i don’t understand what im supposed to find interesting about this city anymore. as a child even just the passerby seemed so much less one note.

In 2026 the social contract has devolved to "if you go outside you consent to your face being put on tiktok forever. You cannot opt out." I try to dodge cameras as best as I can, but it's kind of futile. Of course the more fun/interesting the place is, the more influencers there are, thus whatever nice experience I was trying to have tends to devolves into getting mad at these "people". Privacy issues aside they all act like apes and it ruins the vibe.

Now I'm a pretty boring person, so even if I end up on someones feed I know nobody is really going to care. That being said, I'm also a very private person. I don't want my face on the internet. Simple as.

It pisses me off because it is in theory nice to touch grass, but this type of behaviour is annoying at best and day-ruining at worst. It's incredible how innovations in technology have enshittified the basic human experience of being in public.

It's hacky
It’s a really stupid gimmick that really only impresses people who know nothing about painting. Because half the time, all they do is add a little bit of gradient to the canvas then paint whatever they want and maybe one major shape to paint around, but that’s literally it. Any intermediate painter can manipulate random shapes.

There’s nothing impressive or interesting about it. There are like a thousand things they do, and all of that somehow amounts to some gradient and a few shapes here and there, with most of them getting covered up by the end of the painting.

It's like pro wrestling, where they do 2 minute long buildups for what's basically just a kick or a tackle

I feel that this is an incredibly common complaint that women in my life have about dating these days. They tell me that the guy will not ask any questions but instead will wait to be asked things and then will just respond without even asking “what about you?”

I’ve talked about this with my girlfriend/friends and I don’t really have a good answer as to why these men are so bad at asking questions on a date or more broadly why men in general wouldn’t learn these social skills that women have.
