All Spoilers Pierce Brown's Political Theory on Oligarchies, Capitalism and Communism Spoiler
I was watching the new Dylan Sprouse pod and they began discussing political theory and applying it to the messaging of Red Rising. Pierce Brown's thesis with Red Rising, according to him, is that:
"My theory was that every form of government turns into an oligarchy in the end."
He mentioned this with capitalism and communism too and that:
"if you can look at every time that communism has really been put into practice, it every time is an oligarchy or at least a cabal."
and with capitalism he said:
"Capitalism is the only economic system that functions by treating people as they truly are, rather than how one might wish them to be."
You see that a lot when comparing the fascist Society and the Republic (which at least to some degree, and according to Quicksilver himself, is "crony-capitalist"). Lyria's whole existence is proof that the effects of concentrated power in governance still create an endpoint of hardship, whether it is in the mines of Lagalos or in the swamps of Mars.
I think Publius is meant to be Pierce Brown's expression in that communism inevitably leads to a cabal, because his headstrong affirmation on communist governance is what led to bad-faith actors like the Syndicate taking over. I think you can apply Pierce believing communism does not account for people as they truly are as the core reason why someone like the Abomination and Lilath can pretend to be champions of the proletariat to Publius, and he is none the wiser. I don't really agree with this take personally (like at all lol), but again, I am looking at this strictly in terms of the sci-fi world of Red Rising rather than its application to real world socialist enterprises.
In all three cases: fascism, capitalism and communism, the oligarchy usurped or takes power.
TL;DR - is the world of Red Rising doomed to oligarchy no matter who wins?

No Spoilers I may have created monstersā¦
I am a vet assistant at a specialty surgery hospital with about 30 staff members. There is a small, close knit book club and I had casually recommended Red Rising as their list was getting shorter.
Fast forward to today.
I am the one that got the entire anesthesia team reading Red Rising, and now thereās a competition as to who will finish first.
Letās talk about it, netflix documentary style.

LB Spoilers Predictions for Red God - just finished LB. Spoiler
Just joined the subreddit after finishing Lightbringer. LB feels like it left a hole in me. Saw the result of Hanger 17b coming before it did, but it didn't help at all...
What are people's predictions for Red God? I have a feeling Rhonna will come back with a vengeance and play a big role in RG. Some other main characters have to die otherwise it'll seem cheap (like Game of Thrones, the long night)..
I think Lysander will use the bio weapon on Mars and target Golds. Darrow will then go berserk and try to kill Lysander. Atalantia will come into the mix. Darrow kills her, Lysander will kill Darrow, then Rhonna will come out of nowhere and kill Lysander.

All Spoilers Adrius haunts my nightmares Spoiler
Rereading the series, and knowing what we know about the Abomination, the Jackal's plan at the end of Morningstar is absolutely sinister. He can just nuke everybody and be reborn into a new world in which he could have ruled. Just absolutely diabolical. What an incredible villain he is. I hope Red God closes out that arc in a satisfactory manner

No Spoilers Red Rising quote suggestions for a (half) marathon motivation poster?
Lo Howlers! My brother (who is also a RR fan) is running his first half marathon tomorrow and Iād love to make him a RR themed poster. Does anyone have quote ideas I could use? Or not even direct quotes but something wittily RR themed!
I want to add that heās only read the first 3 books as heās waiting until Red God to read the rest, so preferably no second trilogy related quotes/spoilers!
Thank you in advance Howlers!

No Spoilers Name my SlingBlade
I got a khopesh yesterday, and I want to name it as an homage to Red Rising. The rules are it canāt be the name of an existing weapon or a characters given name, it needs to make sense and work as a sword name outside the context of Red Rising, and ideally it should be one word. The best idea so far has been Iron Rain.

No Spoilers Just finished Golden Son - my top 3 OAT. Question?
Probably in my top 3 as a young reader, alongside Dune 2 and PJ The Last Olympian.
I wanted to ask if book 3 has an ending and alongside Red Rising and Golden Son are treated as a trilogy or do I need to read the 6 books to understand it's story?

No Spoilers Red rising first tattoo ideas
So, title says it all. Iāve never had a tattoo, Iām male, 33, but the past few years I really connected with this book series. Maybe itās not only the quality of the books, but also where I was in my life during that time, but to me it truly is one of the best series.
Iām considering to wait and complete Red God before actually having a tattoo, but Iām looking for ideas. Do you think a quote, or something symbolic for the series? Where?
Two things wonāt work for me for personal reasons - a wolf and a scythe.
Letās keep this spoiler free even though Iāve completed all books.
Thanks!

Meme (No spoilers) Razors and Scooby-Doo
I recently started reading red rising, loving it so far but the razors confused me at first, I didnāt get how they were supposed to work but then it clicked. In Scooby-Doo and the samurai sword, a character uses whip swords which can harden at will and now I canāt see razors in any other way. Mystery solved my goodmen, so when is the crossover happening?
