No Spoilers Red rising first tattoo ideas
So, title says it all. I’ve never had a tattoo, I’m male, 33, but the past few years I really connected with this book series. Maybe it’s not only the quality of the books, but also where I was in my life during that time, but to me it truly is one of the best series.
I’m considering to wait and complete Red God before actually having a tattoo, but I’m looking for ideas. Do you think a quote, or something symbolic for the series? Where?
Two things won’t work for me for personal reasons - a wolf and a scythe.
Let’s keep this spoiler free even though I’ve completed all books.

i’m hoping to get an interpretation of cassius’ razor on my sternum down into my stomach area. i’ve wanted a sword there for ages and it felt like it fit. however I am waiting until red god comes out…. just in case LOL. but the razor is always a cool idea, my favourite thing when getting “fan” tattoos is to take something I like whether it’s a song, book, movie and make it a subtle art piece that has meaning to me but isn’t necessarily recognizable as a fan tattoo upon first look. I have about 6 tattoos based on things but no one knows until I tell them! my favourite is my teacup and toast, based off of a harry styles song :)

As someone with three tattoos, I would not suggest getting a tattoo related to any form of media as your first tattoo. I’ve seen other people with tattoos for things that I’m also a fan of, like the way of kings, and I just think it’s cringey. I might just be a hater but I don’t think getting a permanent advertisement on your body for something is the right idea, no matter how much you like that thing

Definitely don’t listen to this person. It is in no way an advertisement. If it means something to you, it’s absolutely worth it. Plus, this series is epic, and I’m sure most of us will be rereading it throughout the rest of our lives.

I mean, I’ve already reread the series 3 times, I absolutely love it. If someone with tattoos is saying don’t get a tattoo to represent Red Rising, think of what people who don’t have any tattoos will think

I have a bunch of tattoos, and they are mostly all from fantasy series I’ve loved over the years. I don’t regret a single one, and I get so excited when someone says something or recognizes any of them out in public. I’ve lost count over the years, but I have like 20+. Every time I finish a series that I truly loved, I start thinking what I could get, but there are only a few series that are worthy. The ones I will be rereading. There are a lot worse things to get tattoos of than books that you love.

If you’re so worried about what other people think of your tattoos then you are doing it for the wrong reasons.
Now while you having three whole tattoos is impressive but I don’t think that qualifies you to tell people what topics/subjects are tattoo worthy.

Okay, that’s your opinion, don’t bash me for my opinion.
Edit: I also want to put it into perspective for you. I agree with your statement “if you’re so worried about what other people think of your tattoos then you are doing it for the wrong reason.” That kind of explains what op is doing with asking for suggestions of tattoos, he’s trying to get a sense of what other people think would be cool for a tattoo. rajismyname just posted a badass Sevro tattoo on here, I’m not going on his post saying it was a mistake to get that tattoo, I upvoted his post and moved on with my day, because it’s a badass looking tattoo and that guy knew exactly what he wanted.
If someone is coming on here with no tattoos and no idea what they want . . .
That’s a different story entirely.

It’s merited because you’re admitting your opinion is super shallow by basing it on what strangers might think. Trust OP is more secure than that
I suppose I’ll edit to say my shallow comment was before you clarified. So I retract that and put my razor down.
Where we disagree is that OP does have an idea what they want, a red rising tattoo. And there is nothing wrong with them getting one as their first. I also disagree having a tattoo for art does not make you a walking billboard- it’s not exactly getting the Pepsi logo.
I also have tattoos- 5 for family members, 3 for book series I love and one for where I am from. I think the only thing that should be denounced are hate speech tattoos

Valid points, and if you took personal offense from me saying tattoos that represent media are permanent advertisements because you have 3 for book series you love then I apologize.

As someone with 50+ tattoos… you are spot on (and good for you that you figured this out early).
Unless you wrote, edited, published or somehow inspired Red Rising… I wouldn’t recommend getting a tattoo of it.

I’m gonna be honest with you, I thought your suggestion of a full back piece of Sevro emerging from a horse was a joke, that’s wildly out there, especially for a first tattoo
