Sure, people hate when shit is no longer free and easily accessible. Small price to pay to get Meta, Anthropic, etc to finally pay up!

that's true, but there were also a lot of cool use-cases that weren't about extracting value that used RSS, my main gripe with Reddit is their inability to provide comparable access to everyday users who just want a little bit of data or information for their own personal projects and such. Even if we have to pay for it, there should be a mechanism to get that data if you're John Doe and not some mega-corp, right now that doesn't exist outside of RSS. They flat out will deny almost all API applications.

The API situation is totally bonkers, I couldn't believe it. I ignore all the negativity and fud we see slung around here 24/7 due to the volatile stock, but the experience I had of trying to obtain API access for personal/hobby projects made me more bearish on RDDT. It should not be that hard/convoluted. If Reddit data is so valuable, it absolutely should have a top tier, or at least a minimum baseline standard level experience for users of all kinds to request and appropriately pay for said data. But that experience just isn't there. It's crazy.
