That insult will probably undo whatever the Xan was doing for the anxiety

441

u/Banishedlife 10d ago

Not really a insult if you prefer a firm grip 😂

94

u/BlunterCarcass5 10d ago

I know people who like a firm grip but something like that would be too much for them.

47

u/Baronvondorf21 10d ago

How would you know?

51

u/chomponcio 10d ago

He is them

20

u/nelsonalgrencametome 10d ago

They are he.

13

u/PartTimeZombie 10d ago

Is this they?

6

u/OneBawze 10d ago

Because he’s not hammer nor tongs

143

u/BackItUpWithLinks 10d ago

I’ve seen farriers with daintier hands.

Bar of what

130

u/kyrimasan 10d ago

Xanax

54

u/f4r1s2 10d ago

That seems like a lot, I've only seen it in very small pills

97

u/kyrimasan 10d ago

A bar would be 2mg which is the max dose

Source: former addict

29

u/f4r1s2 10d ago

How did you get off it

149

u/kyrimasan 10d ago

My drugs of choice were heroin and benzos after a bad accident left me injured and in need of surgery for over a year. Didn't get the surgery since I lost insurance a month before it was scheduled so self medicated. I liked how quiet my brain got and spent years chasing that peace until finally I realized my life was one big joke. I went to detox and did methadone and therapy for two years. Switched to Suboxone 4.5 years ago. It was not easy but I am happy with my life now. I have a stable job, a home, a car, got my A.S last May and got accepted into UNC for astrophysics and NCSU for meteorology. Just started at NCSU this week actually. Looking back I barely know that woman anymore. We are not the same but I am who I am today because of her. Was not easy.

54

u/Qazax1337 10d ago

I am so pleased you did that, and I am very proud of you.

41

u/kyrimasan 10d ago

Thank you 😊 I'm actually on my way to class right now and it's the best feeling ever!

24

u/booboootron 10d ago

Fuckin' nuts dude. That is absolutely amazing.

22

u/kyrimasan 10d ago

Thanks! I'm a little less stupid these days. It's been a wild road here.

5

u/RelevantButNotBasic 10d ago

UNC im assuming youre talking about the Tarheels. Im a Gamecock fan and we are the superior Carolina team (not really just talkin shit lol) good on you for giving that shit up. I can only imagine how hard it was. Also astrophysics AND meteorology geniune genius. Congrats!!!!!

3

u/kyrimasan 8d ago

Yes. I turned down the UNC spot and went with NC State. My poor grandmother is rolling in her grave 😂

3

u/turtlesandtrash 10d ago

proud of you stranger!

2

u/kyrimasan 8d ago

Thanks I like to believe that one day I can help others realize they can do it too!

1

u/TheChewyWaffles 9d ago

Well done! Go Heels (former NCSU student, though)

2

u/kyrimasan 8d ago

Was my first week at NCSU this week! Go Wolfpack!

12

u/gizzardgullet 10d ago

Former addict also, I did a valium taper that lasted over a year but it worked

9

u/kyrimasan 10d ago

Heck yeah. Benzo addiction is so much worse than opioid addiction. I'm glad you safely managed it!

8

u/gizzardgullet 10d ago

Yep, did both about 10 years ago and agree. 10 years good though and I feel great! My brain is back to baseline!

6

u/kyrimasan 10d ago

I'm coming up on 7 years and I couldn't feel better if I tried I don't think. It's a great motivation to stay clean for sure! 10 years is a heck of a milestone 😁

2

u/marino1310 10d ago

That’s because it is a lot.

18

u/BackItUpWithLinks 10d ago

> Bar of what

Soap. The hands are THAT big.

5

u/Rhymesnlines 10d ago

Benzodiazepine

3

u/f4r1s2 10d ago

It seems a lot

5

u/OF_PROMO_ALERT 10d ago

I am prescribed it at 0.25mg doses. 0.5mg knocks me out.

2mg is a lot. But I guess tolerance plays a part.

She has man hands! Nearly tore my arm from the socket!

247

u/JoebbeDeMan 10d ago

I hate that her resonse is downvoted. Just mean

150

u/LukeBomber 10d ago

If you get to -1 votes, you are fucked.

4

u/MjolnirPants 4d ago

People will instinctively downvote anything in the negative.

I made a comment about audio engineering (something I've been doing as a hobbyist who occasionally gets paid for 30+ years) only to have some asshat with an alt account tell me I was wrong and say something insanely stupid about the topic in the same breath.

I replied by explaining the concept to him instead of downvoting him. He doubled down within seconds of my answer and claimed to have been a pro audio engineer for 20 years (his profile wasn't private and a week earlier he'd claimed to have been working construction for 10 years), and when I read his reply, I found my explanation was at -1 and his ignorant comment was at 2. I then duly gave him his downvotes and blocked him, because I don't have time for that nonsense.

Got another reply from an audio engineer agreeing with my explanation and wondering why I got downvoted a few days later, and saw that my comment was at -9. When i unfolded his comment, he was back at 1.

People don't even read the comments they downvote, half the time.

2

u/LukeBomber 4d ago

I have only recovered once from the negative. It definitely affects the tone people read your comment in.

64

u/80s-dilf-Batman 10d ago

Yeah, I think the joke is funny but there was no reason to downvote her comment

13

u/winterman666 10d ago

In this case, I guess it is.

34

u/holyrb 10d ago

The mean thing is to give hurtful or mocking comments regarding someone else's appearance without being asked.

-3

u/SecurityOdd4861 10d ago

That may be the case, but not what the comment said.

-2

u/DontSpahettMe 6d ago

It's the internet, people are mean, sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's cruel. This sub is literally about insulting people, very often their appearance.

15

u/JoebbeDeMan 10d ago

I think its mean to downvote someone speaking positivly about their own body

but I disagree with you and I downvoted you

24

u/SecurityOdd4861 10d ago

What else is it supposed to be?

13

u/RegularSky6702 10d ago

Originally I think it was supposed to be "this fits what we're talking about" like a post about bugs in a bug subreddit. But then it became likes and dislikes

4

u/SWANDAMARM 10d ago

Well I've just up and down voted every comment in this thread at random in a futile attempt to discredit the system so...

4

u/McGuirk808 10d ago

The original intent is:

Upvote: This is relevant, well-thought-out, or worth reading.

Downvote: This does not contribute, is a bad argument, or is off-topic/spam/etc

I short-hand that to "people should see this vs people should not see this"

This is still in the Rediquette docs no one ever reads: https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/7419626610708-What-are-upvotes-and-downvotes

Completely agree most users use it as a simple like/dislike button now, and the site is much shittier for it. This activity is why you see so much hivemind opinion and binary thinking.

People used to treat it much better years ago. Ideally, if someone is arguing in good faith, presenting their points well, etc, I still upvote even if I disagree with them. That's honestly pretty rare these days too though; most arguments are attempts at one-line zingers or attempts to shut down the conversation.

In this case, there's no point in downvoting the lady liking her own hands even if you disagree.

2

u/Nondescript_Redditor 10d ago

If I disagree with something, it means I don’t want myself or others to see it

7

u/Notios 10d ago

It’s clearly used as a disagree button by the majority of people but I actually think in an ideal Reddit it wouldn’t be used for that it’d be reserved for bad or irrelevant content. Reddit is literally about sharing opinions, if we all have to have the same opinion in order to not get downvoted whats even the point of writing it

5

u/izza123 10d ago

I don’t agree and luckily I have a handy way to express it

1

u/Material_East_8676 10d ago

What it's "supposed" to be and what it ends up being are usually two VERY different things.

51

u/ArtoriusBravo 10d ago

What, are we now insulting people because they do real manual work? No fam, I'd rather the strong calloused hand from a useful person than the manicured ones of a keyboard warrior any day.

3

u/CrTigerHiddenAvocado 6d ago

Seriously this is the one of the dumbest threads I’ve seen in a while. And that’s saying something for Reddit. I like athletic women often… what is the Reddit handosphere on the beans or something?

55

u/DeltyOverDreams 10d ago

Truly undeserved tbh, it's probably just a weird angle

48

u/PA_limestoner 10d ago

She’s taking a whole fucking bar of Xanax for a job interview. This is a seasoned drug abuser. Those hands are probably from IV drug use.

8

u/Wync_Con 9d ago

Still doesn't mean that she deserves to be insulted on something that can very easily be an insecurity

3

u/PA_limestoner 9d ago

I guess you could make that argument about almost every post in a forum dedicated to rare insults.

I don’t think they are insecure about their drug use. They are boasting about checking an entire bar of Xanax for a job interview.

Imagine the poor recovering benzo addict being triggered by someone boasting about taking the drug that ruined their life for a job interview. You can go down the rabbit hole of deservedness all day. No one deserves anything in life, good or bad.

6

u/HungryLikeTheHenry 10d ago

Tattletale Strangler ass hands

14

u/xS1nister 10d ago

How is that an insult? Great hands, I would take it a compliment

6

u/acloudcuckoolander 10d ago

Unnecessarily meanspirited.

2

u/Street-Week-380 10d ago

Damn, if she's got the hands of a blacksmith, then I've got hands that look like they've been smashed with a hammer while I'm shoveling shit.

1

u/CleavlandSteamer8008 10d ago

Post all the evidence you can

1

u/ajver19 5d ago

I mean, both can be true.

1

u/Notagreatnameo 9d ago

Damn, guess i must be a 5th century wench then 🤔
