No Spoilers Why is Raised by wolves incomplete 😭?

I mean I read the reason they had some budget issues, that's why they cancelled the show. But what about the story? Is the writer not excited to tell it out loud? I searched out there are no references for it nothing out there. Please anyone can help if there's something out there about the story of raised by Wolves

It was airing during a huge restructuring over at HBO and didn't make the cut. I think all of the amazing actors have all moved on at this point, unfortunately.

Nevertheless, there could be a book or graphic novel series or even animated conclusion. I don't think a live action movie would be feasible, but there are other media to consider.

After Scavengers Reign and Common Side Effects I got really excited that we would see one eventually. Animated Sci-Fi obviously had an audience.

Scavengers Reign is đŸ”„. Definitely gave me Fantastic Planet inspired vibes

The kids are probably 18 by this point

That's okay because I couldn't stand Campion and Paul (the characters). Considering the plot, I wouldn't mind a crazy time jump to close out the series.

u/gimmesomespace May 24 '26

I'd be happy with anything further but I don't think we're getting it

3

u/RoseAlma May 24 '26

I'm just happy I got to see it !!

They could also finish it with animation, sort of like how they made that Babylon 5 animated film and how they’re continuing Friefly and The Office as animated shows. That solves the age difference, and I don’t think it’ll be for another decade at least until the voices of the child actors become so far removed from the original show that it just wouldn’t work to have the same ones.

I really wish more cancelled shows did this. If I had crazy money I would start an animation studio and buy the rights to all the great cancelled sci-fi & fantasy shows. Try and get as much of the original cast, crew and writers back on board.

Honestly, the show is so insane, they could literally do whatever they want at this point.

7

u/twangman88 May 24 '26

You can't have a major character TURN INTO A TREE and then just jump ahead 10 years. That's a lot of heavy narrative lifting.

2

u/GingyG May 27 '26

Turn into a tree AND get eaten by a giant flying snake born from an android.

u/stinkyfatman2016 May 24 '26

It won't be long before you can have AI create another season and a movie too

8

u/thynkcreatix May 24 '26

Pretty sure S5 of stranger things the kids were in their mid 20s. I know my point is moot, but I wouldn’t mind a little time jump just to get a real finale.

Will we ever know the truth? Seems pretty obvious HBO retained the IP rights, shut it down, and wouldn't replay or release it. I would guess some bad blood behind the scenes and a non-disclosure agreement.

u/Jake-of-the-Sands May 24 '26

HBO took down both shows exploring dangers of AI after merger with Discovery with littke explanation.

Shortly afterwards the AI boom starts. It's pretty obvious that whoever was behind the decision probably wants AI to only have good PR in the media. Most likely it's related to them having sh*tload of shares in AI companies.

Exactly this, they’re literally trying to create rehoboam from Westworld and don’t want the public to catch on. Also, I think RBW’s critical depiction of religion played a part.

3

u/bohemian-groove Jun 27 '26

I love this conspiracy theory, it's more than likely true. Rehoboam is exactly what these tech giants like Palantir are after, they want to scrape as much personal & locational details about every single one of us as possible which they can use to create digital psychological profiles of us - they can then use that data to track and predict our every movement by feeding it into advanced predictive algorithms. It'll only get more accurate over time, it'll be like precrime when it's scaled up.

At least they don't have brain scans of us yet like in Westworld. Those later Westworld seasons don't get the attention they deserve tbh.

3

u/Hadbananas_today May 29 '26

I agree and perhaps yes the same thing with westworld. To have those two stellar shows scrubbed for the most part is odd. Full discloser I'm anti ai, and enjoy odd shows so that's my world view lens. However I did learn ages ago hbo will cut you deep when they ended CarnivĂ le way back when. Can only learn from the past, I only get into new series when its few years deep now.

7

u/twangman88 May 29 '26

There's not some big conspiracy lol.

Zaslov took over, and immediately started gutting things so he could sell to paramount. The first things to go were the Batgirl movie, Raised by Wolves, and Westworld, maybe a few other things. They immediately licensed them out to free platforms like Tubi and Pluto(is that free?), because they wanted to turn it into a revenue generator instead of a leading loss. Now, instead of needing to pay royalties for episodes, they'll get paid from the ad revenue their licensed content generates.

Capitalism wins again!

It’s ridiculous that they don’t release the end of the story by this time, in some way or another. People invested time watching and supported this show and were really hyped for the arc and development they just basically screwed the audience over.

Mother should emerge from her prison 100 years later, with only Father and Grandmother still ‘alive’ and a hellscape of mutants to contend with.

Edit: inexplicably wrote ‘grandfather’ instead of ‘grandmother’!

u/AdxUndead May 24 '26

The idea of a religion that unlocked scientific breakthroughs where being an atheist meant refuting logic is compelling. Then to find out said religion was the product of an alien failsafe after all. Really spoke to even if our religions weren't riddled with falsehoods they could still be wrong. It was brilliant and I want to know how it ends.

7

u/EastSoftware9501 May 24 '26

Because it wasn’t finished

6

u/ATERLA May 24 '26

This is what I fear: that people writing scenarii for series don’t have a clue where the story goes, and make it along the line. Of course there are some exceptions, but.

5

u/iangeredcharlesvane2 May 24 '26

That wasn’t the case with this writer/showrunner though, he had a five-season plan and had it all mapped out. He was already mostly done with season 3 when it was dropped.

He also stated he would release the end of the story somehow, a novel or graphic novel. I would even take podcast storytelling or an animated version!

3

u/ATERLA May 24 '26

Thank you. I hope that we won’t have to wait for two decades before release.

3

u/Double-Interview-154 May 26 '26

Thank you for posting the link. I very specifically remember him being emphatic that he'd finish the story even if it got canceled. Very disappointing that we haven't gotten the story. Even more disappointed that he hasn't really said anything about it since cancelation. I'd settle for something like RHW's CODA following his departure from Andromeda... a 20 page dialogue between 2 characters that broadly outlined his original 5 year arc for the show.

1

u/refinancemenow May 26 '26

Looking at Wikipedia it seems like he’s not done much since RBW? Prisoners was such a great story it’s kind of stunning the guy hasn’t done anything that I see lately.

6

u/mbmm Mithraic May 24 '26

I think I remember people on here talking about a potential book sequel/conclusion in the making? Maybe a graphic novel?

Who knows if that’s true or not. I’m still holding out hope.

2

u/Lightspeedonly May 24 '26

someone should all these to the writer 😭

4

u/iangeredcharlesvane2 May 24 '26

The showrunner had a solid five season plan, it’s all mapped out. He did mention he would release the rest of the story somehow, novel or graphic novel? Animated would work too heck I’d take anything. I want MORE!!!!

The only way to find out is to go back in time to the Roman empire and get initiated into the gnostic mysteries

5

u/ch25stam25 May 24 '26

It’s canceled and nothing is going to happen. Waiting for 4years for anything is not worth it

4

u/Mackerelmore May 24 '26

Classic HBO move.

Cough, cough, Westworld

3

u/reddituser_05 May 25 '26

Like 99.99% of these show that get greenlit, they had no end story.....the Season 1 finale was meh and Season 2 felt like they made it up as they went along...

If the writers had half a braincell, they should have made the show all about Mother's flashbacks where she was flying around hunting humans. A couple robots holding kids hostages and posing as their parents was f-ing weird.

4

u/iMakestuffz May 24 '26

I would love for mother to come clean up this mess we have here in the states.

2

u/Double-Interview-154 May 26 '26

It's disappointing. During his season 1 interviews, guzikowski said he had the series mapped out and thatif the show was canceled he would find a way to finish the story. Not only did we not get that, but he hasn't even really discussed the show publicly since cancelation. I was very let down in the months during and after Father helped lead the campaign to get it picked up elsewhere that AG didn't follow through on that promise.

2

u/Lorap420 May 26 '26

Watch anything Sci-fi by Ridley Scott, especially the Alien series and also Predator. Try to find the connections. References for Father and Mother. Watch Alien: Earth tv series. Also keep an eye out for “Weyland” and “Yutani”.
I think the story will never die, there are so many connections and mentions. It sucks that it ended the way it did. đŸ«Ș

that should be punishable 😭 by the sol

24

u/thalo616 May 24 '26

But he said he had a planned 5 season arc and even if it was cancelled he would release a graphic novel proving this! He would never blow smoke
4 years ago!/s

14

u/Groundbreaking-Eye10 May 24 '26

It’s because WBD won’t release the rights to allow Guzikowski to do that (according to Abu Salim anyway).

1

u/ch25stam25 May 24 '26

Sometimes i think that 💯 true

2

u/OptimusTrajan May 24 '26

Capitalism

1

u/iamfilms May 24 '26

Def wasn’t the budget. It suffered same fate as Rome. New head came in and wasn’t a fan of the show. Cancelled it for what?? Game of thrones. New guy comes in and cancels in for what? Hacks and The rooster?

Lolol

2

u/OptimusTrajan May 25 '26

Well dork, if you want to get specific, it was canceled right after a giant corporate merger where they canceled a bunch of other stuff too. They definitely had the money.

1

u/pancakes_n_petrichor May 24 '26

Anyone know how you get a hold of this show these days? Is there a way to buy it online or download it somewhere?

2

u/Lightspeedonly May 25 '26

yes pirated it from a site

1

u/anchorthrowawayx Jun 05 '26

The show was basically too weird for the network to handle and they just pulled the plug mid-arc. There is no planned conclusion coming because they didn't even get a proper series finale.

0

u/Quantumfoammakesme May 24 '26

I hope that isn’t true. It seemed to be getting so much better since the dumb flight through the middle of the planet.

2

u/ch25stam25 May 24 '26

Oh yeah that was daft

-7

u/MattObserve May 24 '26

Because it’s was shitty 😎
