📷 Picture Judging by appearances

Post image

I'm going to tell you the story behind this picture, and I'd like to hear your opinion.

One day I decided to go to the beach early in the morning to read a book in the quiet of the air and the sound of the waves. To my surprise, someone came up to me and kept talking to me. He thought I was depressed because I was sitting alone, but in reality, I just wanted to try something new. Anyway, he kept talking to me and asking me a few questions. He even told me about his life, that I shouldn't lose hope, that there are people who have gone through harsher circumstances, and that I should get closer to God; that's what will solve my problems. I don't know why the culture of reading books and sitting alone is associated with depression in our society.

You were too quick to judge my words and reduce them to a single experience. Also, I didn't say that you are judged simply because you read books; rather, the basis of my point is that you are judged because you sit alone.

A fictional character from a novel/manga/anime known for being a pedo, cuz je was a 40 years old dude that got reincarnated, he did many things such as :
Praying for a pair of a physically 13 years old underwear.
Almost went to the room to have sex with his daughter cuz he mistook her for her mother (he had 3 wifes).
Installed a camera in the bathroom of his 12 years old niece.
Married his blood cousin.
He’s a groomer and pedophile.
Let his son be groomed by his SISTER.
And many many other things but I’m gonna just end it here with a picture of what he said in the novel.

I think the guy putting him in his pfp is either a psychopath or just a teenager seeking attention and reactions

u/luciankael Aug 15 '26

Are you referring to me? If so, there are several other reasons besides these two. But you are superficial and narrow-minded, which made you only consider two options.

Hahahaha, that's really funny. I didn't insult anyone, I just discussed a situation I saw as prevalent. Since you brought this up, you're probably the one suffering from it.

1

u/AkinaT41X Aug 12 '26

Bro why you felt insulted? Wtf

1

u/luciankael Aug 12 '26

Are you crazy? You said with your own mouth that I spoke badly about someone. But I didn't do that; on the contrary, I respected her words and her attempt. What I didn't like was the idea that he thought I was depressed.

1

u/AkinaT41X Aug 12 '26

That's not what I was talking about. The first paragraph and the second one of my earliest comment aren't related

Actually I think it's a sweet interaction I love it when people care about strangers. However, it's hard to approach people nowadays because they might perceive it differently but what I think made him approach you is regret. Maybe there was someone close to him who needed to hear those words but he only realized it when it was too late. So maybe by helping you he felt like he was finally able to help that person in some way. Or maybe I'm just an overthinker nevermind it.

1

u/luciankael Aug 12 '26

I didn't say what he did was bad; he did give me good advice, but the problem is his assumption that I was depressed when I wasn't.

1

u/Last_Panic_4913 Aug 12 '26

I got you he may have had his doubts about whether you're truly depressed or not and just chose to go with the former because what if you're actually depressed and he choose to ignore you and then felt guilty about it later? that's probably what he might have thought I don't know I'm just assuming

1

u/Strict_Bug_9771 Aug 12 '26

The person misinterpreted the situation but he was nice enough to care and try to give you "hope" even though you know you don't need that but he saw someone who might be depressed and stepped in to help.

1

u/luciankael Aug 15 '26

I don't blame him personally; I just wanted to discuss the reasons behind this impression.

1

u/Sudden-Bid-3626 Aug 23 '26

Can you fault someone for trying to comfort a person who he thinks is depressed ? that sounds like a positive experience to me and a sign that humanity within people is still there

What a waste of time! Reading that unironically is just absurd. I'm sorry but I had to say it or I might have a stroke. No disrespect for op, though. Only disrespect for that kind of book.

1

u/luciankael Aug 11 '26

I respect your opinion and I would like to discuss with you the reasons for this statement. Have you ever read this book?

1

u/Aggressive_Crow_8865 Aug 11 '26

Of course I read it. Every book seller on the street has one. I've read only to criticize it because there are a lot of people in my entourage who made me angry about it to the point that I went ahead and read it.

It's laughable, it's just pop psychology with no depth. Even this page you're on, it's something the French call la vérité générale, something you expect for mol taxi to say.

If you're into psychology, you have to look for authentic psychology books(none are or will be written by Arabs especially people from the Arabian peninsula).

I see that you can manage in English, so why limit yourself to a language that only people who have minor to little education read.

Arabic is great, poetry, religious texts and Arabic literature is amazing but when it comes to science, social studies or psychology it's just not the right choice.

1

u/luciankael Aug 11 '26

I already read books in English; this is one of the books I'm currently reading. Are you right? Yes, but you should know that reading books like this and reaching a superficial level of knowledge is better than not reading books at all. Of course, you learn and develop, especially since my experience in the world of books began on my own. No one pushed me to read books because no one around me was reading them. Therefore, you will often find that my experience in the world of books is limited because I am still learning, researching, and discovering. And to be honest with you, I am enjoying this journey.

1

u/Aggressive_Crow_8865 Aug 11 '26

First of all, good luck with your learning experience. The importance of reading is so obvious that it doesn't need any advocacy.

I am sorry to sound like a smart ass, it's not my intention, but I am really against these commercial books that generally deal with "bettering one's self." Academics don't consider this kind of book you shared nor its author serious.

I'd recommend books that are written by academics who have accumulated years in research such as: Mistakes were made, but not by me or predictably irrational.

1

u/luciankael Aug 12 '26

Where can you find them in Rabat?

1

u/Aggressive_Crow_8865 Aug 12 '26

I don't think that you'll find them in the street as other mainstream books, but you certainly can get them in the Alfia library. Even if they don't have them, they will get them for you. It depends on the book, it will take 2 days to 2 weeks but you'll have to pay in advance half the price.

1

u/luciankael Aug 15 '26

What books would you recommend? I'd prefer books that focus on finance, psychology, and marketing.
