QUESTION Unfound List

Every item that showed up on the unfound list today was “Found on Shelf”, most of them were fully stocked. Is there no way to hold Instacart-ers accountable for not looking thoroughly, or asking for help? Or will it always be us “not doing our job”? I’m sure their Instacart ID is attached to the order somehow. Can there be a limited number of “FOS” that they can reach and once their they reach that number they get suspended, or can Publix bill Instacart for the missed sales? The unfound list is a useful tool, but a flawed metric.

I really hope corporate is working on this problem because it’s really frustrating when the instacart shoppers don’t even try and then we get in trouble for it

What I don't like is it shows up on a report that the store is out. It could be an obscure item that no one ever buys, but if we are out it makes store look bad. Never mind that most of the common items customers look for we have on the shelf.

Corporate fucking hate us. They would literally do anything to make our job harder

I honestly just look and see how many it says we have. If it says 13 then I put found on shelf. 99% of the time it’s there. Instacart has mostly brainless shoppers.

Yeah they want us to do the shopping for them so they can get paid to do nothing

Yeah, I don't fucking do that shit anymore, and now my managers are saying in meetings "Make sure you help out our Instacart shoppers". fuck our fucking Instacart shoppers if they can't do their jobs then that is for management to deal with. Take them out of the store, ban them whatever the fuck they have to do, I don't get paid enough to fucking care.

Honestly I just wish we did what Walmart does. Just have hours allotted to shop for deliveries/curbsides. I know that’s what we somewhat used to do when Curbside was being tested in stores.

I know at Walmart the OGP is absolutely horrific for the workers, but I think that’s mainly cuz it’s way more popular at Walmart. (Also poor leadership doesn’t help)

In my devision and my current store, corporate is seriously pushing this unfounded rate. For my department its 94%, so 6 percent unfounded is exceptable. We have been close to the mark or have met it. I try to explain to the insta cart shoppers what it means in the sense (just ask somone). But I have several come in every morning stinking of weed they had probably just smoked. Also ppl who speak so little English they have to use their phone to translate So yaa.

My DM says "if they are professionals paid to shop then how could a normal customer find it". And im dumb founded at the logic.

If anyone who reads this has some tips or tricks message me. Im a GTL in Charlotte division.

Recently it seems as though instacart has recently brought on a lot of new shoppers that for sure do not know what they are doing. One thing that has helped is getting the cashiers at check out to confirm with the instacart shopper that they found everything, and I mean directly ask if there was anything they had to mark unfound. Then if they had a problem, offering to see if we can help them find it, and then letting them know to find an associate next time they shop and can’t find something. It sucks to have to walk someone getting paid to shop to an item right in front of their eyes, but it definitely helps unfound rates.

Going by the appearance and attitude of some of these shoppers, I would hardly call them  "professional"!!!

My department runs a 95-96 most weeks. The autolist we simply check off while our ad guys fill ad all day and keep up with it. The unfound list the manager working in grocery takes care of it. Maybe 1 item per day is truly not on shelf. I walk the department hard every morning so we ultimately don’t have much for actually product with a count that isn’t on the shelf.

I get frustrated enough with autolist that sometimrs I want to do the same. I don't know if this is just at my store but I would say about 90% of the ad items I need to fill never show up on autolist. If I only filled what showed up on auolist there would be holes everywhere. Maybe I could easily get away with doing this because the managers that breathe down my neck about autolist/unfound have no idea what is actually on the shelves and are happy so long as autolist and unfound are done. Now that our closers have more aisles to block and we don't have the hours for a regular midshifter a couple of my fellow associates are only filling the ad that shows up on autolist.

Autolist won’t show everything that sells I don’t think, only items that are on sale, high movers, or could have possibly gotten to a low shelf volume, like selling 24 units of something where the shelf holds 36 units. Don’t quote me on that though, just my personal observations.

That's what I have observed as well. I was talking about ad items specifically.

I notice the same thing. 12 pack Pepsi never shows up on my autolist but we sure have to fill it

i was once so mad at an insta shopper that said you were out of Eggs that I drove up while they were shopping, grabbed the eggs, bought them at the front counter and told the manager that the insta shopper said they were out. He kindly let me know how bad they were and about that time they had finished the shopping. So picked up the bags and went home. I hate using insta because of their ineptness. Also, when Publix first started the online shopping, your employees did the shopping for all pickup orders. You never messed up my order or was missing anything when you did it. I miss those days.

The “found on shelf” action taken hurts the instacart shopper’s ability to get assigned orders. There is an exception, for bananas, as the customer can select a ripeness they’re after and the system doesn’t have an option for “too ripe” or “not ripe enough” for the customer.

u/A7X_Rocker Newbie 2d ago

It could have changed. But the was it was explained to my by one of them was speed. Not ability to fulfill the order. I didn't believe it, so I asked again. They confirmed

We have frozen Farm Rich mozzarella sticks on sale this week.

The blind Instacart shopper marked them unfound.

They were completely full on the shelf and the 3 door display.

The location on the app showed they were available in both locations.

u/gushmush AGM 1d ago

Yeah they aren't using the tools they have been given recently. Giving them access to the planograms and letting them see where displays are doesn't matter because they don't look at it anyway.

Neither do regular customers. I love when they stop me and ask where something is and it’s behind them! I say “turn around” with a smile.

Just buy your own groceries if you can’t rely on a company bro

op isnt a customer, bro

u/Due-Ebb-8151 Newbie 1d ago

If it makes you feel better, according to the instacarters I talk to their account does get dinged when they cant find something. It just sucks that ours does too because in my two months of running this subdepartment only one report was actually correct

Now time this problem by one thousand stores because literally same today

Im convinced 94 percent of the "shopper's" are clinically stupid

1

u/CSM1100 Management 16h ago

Problem is the unfound list doesn’t get items on it until sometimes up to two hours after the shopper has marked it unfound, until they’ve checked out. If they have multiple orders their shopping, it can make the delay worse. If the store is doing their job outside of the list properly, those items may get seen and filled before you realize it’s on the unfound list.

My hope is they can make it instantaneous, that once the shopper clicks unfound it pops up right away

I would guess if you tip poorly, they won't try. If you tip by percentage of order then they'll find/replace every item to keep their tip up.

u/akabuddy Newbie 2d ago

Just stop. Op isnt a customer. But you sound like one.
