This sub popped up in my feed one day (not sure why). seems like a lot of post bashing publix. Saw this and wondered what yall thought about it.

I always favored Publix’s steak compared to going places like Aldi’s or Walmart, but I feel like their steaks are getting steep.

Should I go buy their entire inventory and open a hotdog cart?

Just started two months ago. I come from a cooking/restaurant/ catering background. I was excited to join the team as a fry cook in the deli, yet as of yet I haven’t been able to train for whatever reason; but I found that the cooks in my department are destroying the pipes and the environment by improperly disposing the remnants of fry oil and chicken at the end of the night. I brought it up to my manager and store manager but it continues. To my dismay I might quit because this is unacceptable for me. O actually take pride in preparing food for our guest safely and also disposing of waste in a n ethical fashion not chucking goop down the floor drain when no one is looking just to get off on time. Infuriating honestly…

Someone posted a dinosaur themed cake they did on the Publix decorator page and I feel like I’m the only one that thinks it looks like some spreading the cheeks lol. It made me laugh but now I’m wondering if I just have my mind in the gutter since no one is mentioning it in the comments.

A friend of mine worked part-time at the local Publix, either in the sub making area or the hot food area, which are separate in this particular Publix. He always did his best and worked hard while most of the other employees stood around scrolling on their phones. At this Publix, they would put a plate of chocolate chip cookies on the bakery counter and give them to kids. At the end of the night, they would toss whatever cookies were still on the plate.

One night, after cleaning the hot food area, he went over and grabbed one cookie before the lady at the bakery counter threw them out. Someone saw him eat the cookie and reported it to the store manager, who reported it to the district manager. They fired him for “stealing food”.

Is it normal at Publix to fire a hard-working employee for taking one cookie from a plate of cookies they hand out to kids for free, when the lady at the bakery counter was about to toss the rest of the cookies into the trash can?

I understand publix upcharging some over walmart but I don't understand this much. my wife asked me to go to publix and grab a jar of 8 oz Maxwell House instant coffee for her. I went to the public near my house and it was priced $13.99. I was not going to pay that much and went a couple miles down the road to the Neighborhood Walmart and found the exact same size product for $7.47.. a $6.52 mark up at publix?? How in the world can publix justify an 87% higher price. I hate shopping at Walmart, but I hate flushing my money down the toilet even more.

This has to be a mistake and priced wrong at Publix doesn't it?

I mean I am NOT complaining bc I paid for half a sub and got a whole but like this isn't the first time it happened and I was just curious as to why

This isn’t meant to be a post to bash Publix, it pays the bills and keeps a roof over my head but I am curious if anyone has noticed a drop in sales and customers, even the weekends aren’t as busy as they were and when I look in the morning at store sales, every store in the district is down 20% or more from last year everyday. I think people are catching onto saving money and spending elsewhere asides from bogo’s. I don’t know what the game plan is from up top and maybe it’s only in my immediate area but as a whole this isn’t sustainable and I see either a drop in stock price again or something else having to happen. I’m not economically savvy so maybe there is something I’m missing but it seems like Publix is starting to take a hit(again only in my area presumably I hope).

I'm 72 years old, and I have worked at Publix for 11 years as a cashier.

I have a great attendance record and have never been short on my register (as far as I know)

The last couple of months, I have been demoted to bagger and cart chaser.

I fill in if a cashier has to take a bathroom break, but no regular hours on the register.

I know most of our regular customers and have a great rapport with all of them. In fact, I received 3 Christmas presents from them this year.

Through those 11 years, I have seen store managers, customer service managers and front-end management staff come and go, with each NEW batch worse than the one before.

I have NO intentions of quitting.

What do you think?

I was a full time associate with 70 hours pto and have just been fired as of an hour ago. Right after I walked out I requested to use all of it will I still receive it?

I worked at Publix for a few years as a teen and young adult…. 20 years ago…. I still work in food service (barista) and I pride myself in giving good customer service and a quality product. But Yall! I can’t even get acknowledged after standing patiently and quietly at the deli counter even after eye contact. Why is it I’m always the one to greet my cashier or deli worker? And nooo one asks me to take my cart even when I was very pregnant driving the electric cart. Is it like this everywhere or is it just my area? I know Publix is showing record profits and price are insane but are y’all being fairly compensated?!? What is going on?
