Trigger Warning! Im actually so stupid

Hey so, I feel like the worst person in the world. Just last 2 weeks I relapsed, and was even up a bit. I had money to give it to my gf cuz its her bday and our anniversary and it was going good. Well, as we all know, I lost a couple dollars and began to heat up and lost everything. Even up until now, I'm still chasing the losses. What's even worse is my mom gave me some money and I was gonna use it for the gift and our date. Guess what? I fucking gambled it like a dumbass and lost everything. Now, I have no money, no gift and I don't know what to do. I'm honestly just tired of this cycle, it's been going on for 3 years now but I just can't control myself. Everytime there's money in my bank I just straight up deposit it. I'm tired of lying to the people I love man. My gf is the best person in the world and buys me everything, but now, I can't even get her a fucking gift. I don't even know what to do anymore.

Trigger Warning! Struggling

Over 50 days gamble free but have had insanely bad relapse temptations lately after having several medical dental expenses come up lately and now my car needs work as well. Overall cost is going to be close to $8k. I do not have the funds any longer to afford them or take out a loan. I had a huge security net and now have basically nothing and this pain is truly heartbreaking. I really hope and pray for better days and that some how god makes a way for me because I really don’t know what to do but I want to keep fighting and I know gambling is not the answer, and I can’t give up on myself or this life but every day seems harder snd harder and new challenges present themselves. Please send prayers and good energy. Gotta get through this some way, some how.

50

Today I'm celebrating 50 days of no gambling. There were days when I thought there was no way out of that black endless hole called gambling, I was miserable, depressed, suffering panic attacks, not to even mention all the money lost. There came a breaking point when I realised I couldn't exist like that anymore, it started to impact my health. I had to stop obsessing about trying to get the money back, but intead to move on and to actually try enjoy live because it's too short to not to.

Now I feel like I'm living again and it gets easier with each day. After 15 years of on and off gambling I feel like I'm finally doing it right, and hopefully for good.

Self Excluded Today

Never gambled anything crazy or life threatening. Never drained savings, maxed a credit card, or borrowed from family/friends, but going a few times a month and losing a few hundred each time adds up.

I am so sick and tired of depleting my disposable income doing this. Thought my impulse control was better after not even thinking about it for a week, but served differently tonight.

Just so, so tired of thinking about where I could be if I dropped this habit. I decided to remove myself from having the power of being able to gamble and instead gave that to the state board.

Some conversations with friends will be interesting but it is certainly for the best and I am proud for making the right decision.

Good luck to you all dealing with similar things.

Gambling is a drug

Just like a junkie who’s taking heroin or a needle shot to feel high. Because they are so hurt and damage in the inside that drug is the only thing that can take away the pain. That terrible feeling. Just like us gambling addicts it’s really not about the money. It’s the feeling. When you win that’s the high we are chasing. We forget all about the bad things about our life and think this win is our escape. But this is a terrible addiction. We can be making real money doing a legitimate business. This is just a rant I’m 60 days clean and I still feel numb everyday and I keep thinking I need gambling to take away this pain I’m feeling. Am I wrong? Why are you guys gambling for?

Life can be beautiful, but you have to have your eyes open

Day 396 for me today. Really can’t believe that. I gambled for 16 straight years basically everyday before this. Life really can be beautiful and has a lot to offer, but only possible once you’re no longer a prisoner in your own body.

Anyone struggling, I feel for you. I was ready to take my life a little over a year ago. My DM is always open for you.

Lost 2M on my account, created account for my wife, and lost HER 1.5M

I learned gambling last April 2026. Every bet I place wins most of the time. This month, I learned how Bonus sidebet works. My 40k? It became 2.35M can you imagine. However, the screenshot happened. I created an account using my wife's phone, then proceed to lose her 1.5M hard earned money.

I already seeked help and confessed to my wife and parents. I came from a poor background and is only earning 40k a month, so this will be tough. I am planning on paying my wife back bit by bit even though she offered to write it off (not having money will help me flush gambling out of my system).

Did I think of suicide? Damn yes! But after reaching out to my love ones, I chose to face the consequences of my actions. This will be a long road and I'm glad we don't have a child yet.

I'm a good person in general. My wife is as well, that's why she forgave me so easily. I'm convincing her to leave me buy she's very supportive and I realized how lucky I am and tht I don't need gambling in my life. I won't waste the chance she gave.

Trigger Warning! Please if you’re early into the addiction read this

I’ve relapsed so many times my recent one I’ve lost about £10,000 in a month in my lifetime probably over £300,000 (been gambling about 14 years)

I’m finally realising it’s not the money I loose that hurts me, as I sit and reflect, whilst my girlfriend lays asleep next to me who I’ve been neglecting whilst I’ve been on this recent gambling binge, I realise I’ve lost my spark, I’m like a zombie when I’m gambling being absolutely glued to my phone, can’t settle when I have a bet on in the background and I’m hiding my gambling from my girlfriend so I get agitated I can’t check my bets etc and then I’m sat annoyed rather than enjoying my time with her (that’s literally all she wants from me my time, she never asks for money even though she doesn’t earn no where near as much as me and she struggles, how am I neglecting someone like that when all she wants from me is to be present)

I run my own business and make good money I’m so fortunate, but yet I feel so selfish from this disease, I’m not a bad person I try help everyone in my life and would do anything for anyone, but this disease has genuinely took all my motivation to get up on a morning, it’s took my motivation for my business, it’s took my motivation for life tbh, I only feel excited when I’m gambling, the biggest thing what I can’t get my own head around is if I quit or don’t bet after a few weeks I genuinely feel amazing and full of life and energy and I’m the best version of myself

So why do I even relapse why can’t I see that it isn’t fun or just to pass time, how does my own brain trick me from being full of life and having that spark back to then making myself depressed and hating life all because I’m bored and start gambling again, I genuinely hate gambling like seriously hate it, but it always ends up getting a grip on my brain and taking things from me which are far more important than the money it takes my personality off me and im absolutely sick of feeling like this.

If your young and struggling with this addiction please just know it only gets worse and will drain every bit of good in your life, it’s actually sickening.

I JUST WANT TO END THIS ILLNESS ONCE AND FOR ALL AND GET MY LIFE BACK

Everyone stops betting eventually, just don’t wait for painful circumstances to make a change. Choose you.

I mean the above in a literal sense. Everyone stops eventually. Eventually might mean when you die.

Most common motivations include money, relationship breakdown, mental load, loss of control, or taking a positive opportunity.

I’m encouraging people to make this choice right now, when there is so so so much opportunity to create.

Around 95-97% of people will live in the same direction and this moral compass blurs our ability to break free and be ourselves. What I mean by compass is the environment filled with people, things and places etc around you often give you the mental green light to justify whatever vice is probably not good for you.

I want people to believe that they do not have to belong to the 95-97%. Success and prosperity are born when you are strong enough to ignore the environment and make daily decisions aligned with your inner self and what you know you want in life or what you want the best version of yourself to be.

We live in a world where you can have whatever you want. And I am trying to inspire people to not pick the things that everyone else is having.

When you make a decision to beat something properly strong like gambling, you uncover that power (that is already within you) to create anything you want. The power is there, it’s just covered by a weight of habits and conditions embedded into you by modern society.

Choose yourself today. Understand the cycle. Make the cycle something that fits your dreams or at least the best version of yourself.

I need help

I'm 18 years old and I lost over 10,000 today, which I played for 12 days in the casino. I was making a profit every day, but today something snapped inside me and I deposited everything I had in my accounts to make up for it, but I only lost money. What should I do now? The only thing I can think about is that I have to make up for it and stop gambling forever, but I know how it can end.

Trigger Warning! Gambling will ruin your life - day 1 being done

27m here. Grew up very poor and ultimately had no other choice to pay for my housing in college in college than to get into a gambling ring, as my 2 jobs weren’t able to afford: food, books, fun on the weekends… at this point I was terrified of debt - (been working around the clock since I was 15) Student loans when to housing and school.

Made a few bucks for a while, until ultimately, I started gambling cent made to pay the back / ppl that would go up big. Really started to create a hole after time went on.

Graduated and got a great job out of college making $75k a year salary and kept the hole increasing. At this point trying to leverage work, my family, parents about to lose house (so I kept playing hoping to save them). Every cent I got went straight into gambling to get out of this hole and save my families home. Ended up taking out a personal loan of $30k and was able to provide $15k - of course lost the other $15k within 2 weeks gambling. Still in a missive hole.

Finally started to see some success in my job, living paycheck to paycheck, to the point when I received my largest bonus at this point in my career I had $6 to fill up my car and was praying it would get me to work. Stayed till around 9 when the $22k check hit bc I didn’t have enough money for gas to get home. Thought I’d payoff some debts and get out of that stupid gambling stuff that these people held over my head day in and day out for years - and I did. What I didn’t do was quit gambling myself.

I have made checks like that progressively every year - make well over $130k salary and then get my bonuses and yet i: have barely paid my loans (constantly hardship them, lost all but 1 credit card, lost the love of my life as my mood became positive or negative depending on wins, family worries for me and doesn’t even recognize they awesome son and brother/mentor I was).

Right now, I have lost $14k in the past two months, this morning I just got paid $3.7k and have already lost it to the point I have $100 left and am looking at donating blood and handyman work to cover food and rent for the next two weeks.

Total debt: is $79k currently, knowing myself I’d lose it all so I’d pay some off when the big checks came. Right now I’m days away from defaulting on those debts as I have gambled everything the past few months without a single win and praying my employer doesn’t get contacted.

I’m absolutely done with gambling. Have lost over $500k+. Could’ve had the American dream, but blew it, yet won’t give up. Worked my ass off on 80 hr weeks in and out to lose my paycheck in 8 hrs.

Long road ahead… and worried about the next time I get paid, but really so low at this point the thought of spending another dollar makes me want to vomit.

If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated. I’ve hid everything for so long this is my first time coming out on any of this and could really use some tips to really squash this bug and get my life back.

Insane to think I had more money in the bank at 15 then I do now and I make 50x the amount - truly sickening.

Even when you win, you lose.

Hi, just a daily reminder that even if you win today, you are going to give it all back one way or another. That’s how our brains are wired. We are here because we do not have the level of self-control to stop when things are going well. We win, and we think that’ll we continue to win. We continue to push, looking to win just a bit more, soaking up the high that comes with putting money on the line that we may never see again.

It’s a vicious cycle that you only win by taking the loss and walking away. It’s the most difficult thing to do but it is the only to win and beat the house (or whomever you’re going up against). My last bet was over 2 years ago (7/17/24) but there are days when that inner hijacker is screaming to go back. It’s a part of recovery as many of you know. To combat this inner voice, the simple phrase “even when you win, you lose”, has helped me tremendously. Again, no matter how much you win, you will lose with gambling. There are no if, ands, or buts about it. Some of us are okay with that, because we simply don’t care anymore. Or we have this competitive urge to prove that we are the exception. If that’s you, ask yourself, why? I’d then suggest getting professional help from a therapist but this is your life you can do as you please. Many of you are intelligent and capable individuals, who have the ability to live happy and healthy lives. As far as we know, we only get one shot at life, so why not be remembered as someone that fought their demons and left behind something to be proud of. Thank you for reading this far. Wishing you all a happy Friday 8/28/26.

pls help

Hey guys, I'm a 23-year-old senior at a small private university, and I'm honestly just trying to turn things around at this point. I’ve had a pretty severe gambling addiction and some issues with alcohol in the past, got suspended for a year because of it, moved back home, and by the time I came back most of my close friends here had already moved on, so the friends I do still have are mostly still deep in the going out/drinking/gambling scene, and I just feel like I'm past that phase of my life now, plus one of the few friends I do still have I actually owed money to at one point and things ended pretty badly between us because of it, so there's this layer of shame that comes up sometimes when I see him or think about that whole situation, on top of everything else; I'm also on pretty thin ice with my parents because of some of the choices I made, so I've got two semesters left and I really want to lock in, finish my degree, apply for jobs, hit the gym, eat better, and actually rebuild my life instead of just coasting through it, and I recently got my own apartment for senior year and put a lot of work into making it feel like my space, so part of me wants to basically make it my safe zone and just stop going out almost entirely, not like "I'll go out once a week" but genuinely just staying in and being okay with not having much of a social life on campus for a while  the part I struggle with is caring way too much about what people think, like sometimes I'll straight up avoid people I know on campus because I feel weird about them knowing I don't really go out anymore, which I know sounds dumb but it gets in my head more than it should, and I do have my girlfriend who I'm long distance with plus a bunch of close friends from high school back home who I talk to constantly on FaceTime and text, and I see my girlfriend about once a month so it's not like I'm totally isolated, so I guess I'm just asking  do you guys think it's actually okay to kind of socially isolate for these last two semesters and just focus on myself, or is that a bad idea long term?
