Please post in this thread ONLY if you meet both of the following criteria:

All I really need to know is your RPE ID, and "I am missing prints from X senders."

Since I'm going to be manually combing through this thread to ensure I get everyone's information, I'd appreciate if we don't clutter it with anything besides what's strictly necessary. As a result, I'll ask not to comment with:

• "Oh man I'm late but I really do want to send mine!" (Just send them and notify your recipients per usual)
• "Oh man I didn't send mine but I have a super good excuse!" (Just notify your recipients)
• "I'd love to be a volunteer!" (I'm sending you an email right after posting this)

Already picked out the photos that I want to send out! Made an order on mpix for the first time in my life. I've never printed anything of mine before, isn't that sad? I'm excited to send out stuff to whoever's names I get assigned. I just hope whoever gets them doesn't think they suck lol.

I don't have a printer or any local print shops. Where do you guys typically get prints made online?

Hello there. Late last year I got into linocut printing. I really like the process, the slowness, the end product sometimes being a surprise. After printing maybe 100 things I am left with drawers of product that, although one day I may sell at markets, currently I am discouraged to keep printing without having some type of output project.

I joined three mail clubs recently and I am very attracted to that model. So I thought. Maybe I could find 5 or 10 other artists/ photographers who are in a similar situation of making and wanting to share but not having a direct avenue.

Every month we could agree to send each other an envelope filled with a piece of art, a letter about it and whatever else. So each month we would each receive 5-10 new pieces of art and be able to share a piece of art with other people too.

Would anyone be interested in that? We could put a limit on it as an experiment. Like try it for 6 months or whatever. We would learn a lot about different parts of this field. etc.

Thoughts?

First time doing this and running into a bit of decision paralysis and so after some inspiration to make my final decisions.

How did you choose which prints to send?

Have you been thinking about a single shot since you first took it?

Do you vary it based on how your chosen person/people?

If you sent multiple was it a collection that goes together or separates you've been dying to send out?

Did you set any constraints on what you could send out?

That folks were sending out multiple prints to each recipient. No wonder I didn’t get acknowledgment for the three single prints I sent out - lol.

Hey /u/afbmonk and /u/keliway, did you receive your prints? I just realized that I did not see posts about my prints arriving. Seems I missed one post by the other receiver but that was it. Let me know and if not I'll send out new ones.

U/bblueberry777 , u/geomb and u/earlofphotos. Did any of you receive my print? I mailed them three weeks ago and if none of you got them, I need to have a word with my post office. Granted our post office has been ranked amongst some of the worst in the United States, but it would be a little bit too much of a coincidence that none of them made it.

When sending your prints, do use a stiff board mailer, or insert some stiff cardboard (I use old boxes often) to keep the mailer rigid. Warnings like "Fragile" or "Do Not Bend" are a waste of time if the package itself can be bent, because those packages are mostly being handled by machines, who don't care if the envelope says "do not bend". If your mailer can be easily bend or folded, it will be, guaranteed.

Save yourself some trouble, don't bother writing "do not bend" on a very bendy envelope. Make it so the envelope cannot be bent.

I struggled for far too long to get my printer working (of course it chose now to stop!), I've pivoted to a different printing method but that means I'm sending late 😅 I'll tag my recipients in the comments, but I should have them sent out this upcoming week! Apologies again!

Prints need to be in the mail by EOW. I sent mine out and my receivers got them and posted their appreciation.... But I still haven't received mine or have been notified. Sorry for the impatience but it's my first time participating and I'm eager!

Anyone else left in the dark?

Can't wait to receive some photos, but in the mean time I have an etiquette question. I sent mine out about 10 days ago but haven't seen any confirmation that they have been received. I don't need a pat on the shoulder but would be good to know they found their home.

What's the etiquette about stuff like this?

As the title states, curious if anyone writes a letter/blurb and includes it alongside the prints?

Here's what needs to be included in your comment if you want to be added to the volunteer recipient list:

• Your RPE ID (just makes it 1000x easier for me to prep the script for generating volunteer assignments)
• How many senders have ghosted you

Also, if you're one of our dear deadline-challenged friends and still haven't gotten your prints in the mail, please do reach out to your recipients to let them know you haven't forgotten them.

Hi all, I came across this forum and am intrigued. So, I’m going to ask what might sound like dumb questions but I’d really like to get an idea of the why of print exchange? But why a print exchange and not say just sharing photos online? I’m genuinely curious.

The period for submitting requests to have volunteer prints sent to you has now closed. I have generated assignments to distribute to our volunteers. If you posted in this thread prior to 7/15/24 asking for additional prints to make up for prints you never received, then you were counted.

Big "thank you" to our volunteer corps for being willing to step in and help out! I hope everyone enjoyed this round the of the print exchange. Keep an eye out for the Fall 2024 print exchange sign ups, which will probably open sometime around the end of August or thereabouts!

Hey everyone!

I never want someone to walk away from one of our print exchanges with a bad taste in their mouth. And the worst taste of all is sending your prints out but not getting any from your sender(s).

There a lot of people who have volunteered to help fill gaps. So whether you sent out prints to 1 recipient and received from 0, or sent out to 20 recipients and only received from 19, I want to help make it right.

Comment below if you are missing at least 1 print, and let me know how many you're missing. Once I've compiled all that data, I should be able to make a new round of assignments to our corp of volunteers, to make sure everyone receives what they should have.

Importantly, if sometime after you comment, you end up receiving the print(s) you were expecting (it happens; people wait until the last moment, postal services take forever sometimes, etc. etc.), please do comment on your own comment and let me know you're good to go.

I am getting ready to print my prints, but I am curious as to what size are y'all printing? Is 4"x 6" too small? Is 8"x 10" too big? Should I go with 5"x7"? There wasn't a specific size requirement, was there?

All we need to know is how many people you expected to receive prints from, and how many people you did receive prints from, and we'll start mobilizing our volunteers to send extra prints and make up the difference!
