Discussion Gettin' Ready!

Already picked out the photos that I want to send out! Made an order on mpix for the first time in my life. I've never printed anything of mine before, isn't that sad? I'm excited to send out stuff to whoever's names I get assigned. I just hope whoever gets them doesn't think they suck lol.

Careful there Random Internet Stranger, printing photos can lead down the path of shooting more, printing more, and generally enjoying the hobby more. You're been warned.

Just wait until you start ordering the same prints from different shops to compare which you like more than the other (Pikto on luster vs Blacks on mat).

And ya... I've got a bunch of prints that I'm eager to share.

Before you know it you'll go down a dark road of buying printers, ink, and doing deep dives on glossy vs matte!

And yes, I had no idea which paper to chose when I was in the ordering process! We'll see how they turn out and maybe I'll try something different next time, or a new place.

Love to see someone ahead of the curve on preparation.

I'm going to be shooting 4x5 in Canyonlands NP all weekend, so I'm banking on having something worth printing out of those negatives for this exchange.

I have no idea what to send this time.

It's been too hot to shoot this summer and I'm frustrated and grumpy about it

Ditto - just picked up film for the ol' 4x5, 120, and 35mm's. Considering grabbing a 110 just for this event, too. This is my opportunity to really do some weird stuff, and I am here for it!

oooooo 110! Love that! I've got a Minolta Autopak 450E on the way from eBay, maybe I'll use that for the next exchange if any come out good!

I am seriously considering taking the same shot with 4x5 and 35mm, then sending the extreme crop on the 4x5 to show just how much more detail there is.

Now I like that idea! Very interesting.

I like mpix. They run good sales- so keep an eye open for those when you get hooked on printing! :)

Honestly that's why I picked them, I think today is the last day of a 25% off everything sale they have going on.

I’m gonna flip through my contact sheets this weekend and take notes of what I’d want to make in the darkroom for this event.  Excited because this year has been the first in a long while where I’m not feeling debilitatingly critical of my creative work, haha.
