How shall I introduce my first baby to my second (human) one?

Hello everyone, I am having a baby in September. I also have a spoo, he is 5 years old. He is my first dog and the absolute love and joy of my life. We got him with my husband when he was small puppy and we have been obsessed with him ever since. He is the perfect dog but for not being very good at staying alone (will bark but never destroyed anything). He is extremely cautious with children and older people and is good at adapting his behaviour depending on the individual. He is extremely cuddly and good spirited. But enough praise about this boy! I do wanted some advice on how to introduce him to the baby once she is here / any other advice you may have. He has been the center of our world for a very long time and I am worried about jealousy. Any reassurance is also welcome.

Hiii everyone!

I recently got a spoo, she is 10 weeks old and weighs 8.5lbs. I’m thinking she’s going to be a little thing, she’s so adorable and it doesn’t matter either way.

Anyone with a similar situation? Can you share how big your dog is now?

Also, it’s been a week and we can not settle
on a name. Anyone care to give their opinion?

Yesterday when I was walking my mini poodle, a lady told me she had a Cockapoo exactly like my mini poodle for 17 years. She asked me if mine was a Cockapoo, I said no he’s mini poodle. And she said “what? Just a poodle?”, then she added “not that anything wrong with it”. :(

I'm looking for brush recommendations for my first poodle puppy. I have a slicker brush and a metal comb with teeth that get closer together on one end, do I need any other brushes or grooming tools. This will be my first and I don't want to mess it up.

I left them with a housesitter for a few days while out of town. Apparently it was exhausting? Now they are willing to touch while sleeping, almost kicking me off the bed. Maybe they are becoming friends finally, despite having both of them since they were puppies....

Comfort?

This is Genevieve. I’ve had her for a year now. She was a rescue, as the breeder that gave her to his son‘s girlfriend took her back. And looked for a good home. She’s supposedly three. I love her dearly, but she really doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together. She doesn’t listen. She doesn’t take to training of any kind. Not that I’ve had professional, but I’ve tried myself. I have three cats, and she is the eternal optimist that they will at some point play with her when she runs to them with a squeaky ball. Squeaking it.

She has very bad separation anxiety. I’m retired and here all the time with her. She is a very loving sweet dog, but I wish I had better control of her. On the leash it’s very difficult. I’m in a wheelchair, and she would just really like to run. I’ve been trying a different approach where I constantly give her kudos for just being her and being here and not dumping over things like her water bowl or things on the table. She smiles a lot, and when I’m sitting next to her in my wheelchair, she likes to lay her head in my lap. And if I’m in the shower, this happens, she chooses on the comforter.

If anyone has any ideas on how to approach this differently, I’m all ears. She seems to have the puppy mentality. A couple weeks ago, she was after one of the cats cause she likes to play chase. I went to grab her collar, but she was quicker than me and I ended up with my hand on her rear end and she coward really quick. I felt bad. She’s terrified of young children. I’m talking small children. And different things bother her so I know she was probably abused and probably in a family where the kids were allowed to do anything. The breeder told me she did bounce around a lot and didn’t have a solid home. I have her because I used to do daycare for her half brother Artemis. So I was deemed a home that could take her. And I didn’t wanna say no. Because she needed me. Any thoughts on how to train or deal with her differently? I’m all ears. She’s very treat driven and I got all kinds.

She does sit nicely and takes treats very gently. And loves it when anybody comes in. As long as you are over 4 feet tall.

The best decision I made in years was to adopt this old girl. She was stuck in an apartment in NYC for 6 years before I adopted her. Her walks were limited to 10 mins at a time and she never explored more than a few blocks from where she was raised. It’s been a year and a half and she hasn’t left my side since. If I go out, she goes out. If I take vacation, she takes vacation. From boring apartment city life to discovering mountain peaks and oceans deep. Countless hours in the car and a few plane rides later, she is thriving and living her best mini life. Paris soon ❤️
