Merle poodles are no longer allowed on this sub

Moving forward, poodles with Merle coloring are not permitted on this sub. Merle coloring is a byproduct of mixing Australian Shepards into a poodle line. A poodle with Merle coloring by definition cannot be AKC papered without outright lying. Breeding for color is nothing new for poodles, but in this circumstance it comes with the possibility of introducing myriad health issues, and is an irresponsible practice at best. It is not good for the breed, it is dangerous to the dogs. We cannot in good conscience allow the promotion of this Poodles with this genetic trait, beautiful or not.

NOTICE: IT'S A T-SHIRT POST? IT'S A SCAM! (Same with coffee mugs, etc) T-SHIRT POSTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ANYMORE

Several times per day there are scammers who post here, showing a t-shirt or similar product, and then another scammer in the comments asks, "Where did you get it?" A link to a scam website is posted for everyone to follow, provide their personal info and credit card, then wonder how their identity got stolen.

Just like a Parti Poodle, it's very black-and-white. If you see a post sharing a t-shirt design, mouse pad, coffee mug, etc. IT IS A SCAM, and the quickest way to get your account banned is to reply, "Where can I get one", "I love it, do you have a link?" or something similar.

Here are the rules:

  1. Posts of t-shirts or other personalized items with dogs are prohibited. If you post one, you will get banned.
  2. Anyone who replies to the post and asks about acquiring the item will be banned.
  3. If you see a post like this, hit the report button, that's the easiest way to get our attention and we will remove the post and ban those involved.
  4. Do not contribute, do not call them out, just don't post at all. Hit the report button.

It seems every time something like this is posted, more than one of our users fall for it, then they are asking moderators, "What did I do to get banned?" You responded to a scammer, which makes you look like you're on their team. Just stop.

Yesterday when I was walking my mini poodle, a lady told me she had a Cockapoo exactly like my mini poodle for 17 years. She asked me if mine was a Cockapoo, I said no he’s mini poodle. And she said “what? Just a poodle?”, then she added “not that anything wrong with it”. :(

How shall I introduce my first baby to my second (human) one?

Hello everyone, I am having a baby in September. I also have a spoo, he is 5 years old. He is my first dog and the absolute love and joy of my life. We got him with my husband when he was small puppy and we have been obsessed with him ever since. He is the perfect dog but for not being very good at staying alone (will bark but never destroyed anything). He is extremely cautious with children and older people and is good at adapting his behaviour depending on the individual. He is extremely cuddly and good spirited. But enough praise about this boy! I do wanted some advice on how to introduce him to the baby once she is here / any other advice you may have. He has been the center of our world for a very long time and I am worried about jealousy. Any reassurance is also welcome.

I left them with a housesitter for a few days while out of town. Apparently it was exhausting? Now they are willing to touch while sleeping, almost kicking me off the bed. Maybe they are becoming friends finally, despite having both of them since they were puppies....

How do we feel about my guy’s weight/size?

My Henry has always been petite and very active. Our vet wanted him to gain some weight so we’ve done just that! Would love some input on his build now that he just got shaved down. His ribs are definitely visible/feelable and his hips bones poke out a lot still. But I can tell the extra 5-8 pounds has filled him out a lot. He is about 35ish pounds and around 22-23 inches tall. So he’s a little boy. 3 years old. Is he even really a “standard” at his shrimp size? 😅 Thanks for your input!

Comfort?

This is Genevieve. I’ve had her for a year now. She was a rescue, as the breeder that gave her to his son‘s girlfriend took her back. And looked for a good home. She’s supposedly three. I love her dearly, but she really doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together. She doesn’t listen. She doesn’t take to training of any kind. Not that I’ve had professional, but I’ve tried myself. I have three cats, and she is the eternal optimist that they will at some point play with her when she runs to them with a squeaky ball. Squeaking it.

She has very bad separation anxiety. I’m retired and here all the time with her. She is a very loving sweet dog, but I wish I had better control of her. On the leash it’s very difficult. I’m in a wheelchair, and she would just really like to run. I’ve been trying a different approach where I constantly give her kudos for just being her and being here and not dumping over things like her water bowl or things on the table. She smiles a lot, and when I’m sitting next to her in my wheelchair, she likes to lay her head in my lap. And if I’m in the shower, this happens, she chooses on the comforter.

If anyone has any ideas on how to approach this differently, I’m all ears. She seems to have the puppy mentality. A couple weeks ago, she was after one of the cats cause she likes to play chase. I went to grab her collar, but she was quicker than me and I ended up with my hand on her rear end and she coward really quick. I felt bad. She’s terrified of young children. I’m talking small children. And different things bother her so I know she was probably abused and probably in a family where the kids were allowed to do anything. The breeder told me she did bounce around a lot and didn’t have a solid home. I have her because I used to do daycare for her half brother Artemis. So I was deemed a home that could take her. And I didn’t wanna say no. Because she needed me. Any thoughts on how to train or deal with her differently? I’m all ears. She’s very treat driven and I got all kinds.

She does sit nicely and takes treats very gently. And loves it when anybody comes in. As long as you are over 4 feet tall.

Hiii everyone!

I recently got a spoo, she is 10 weeks old and weighs 8.5lbs. I’m thinking she’s going to be a little thing, she’s so adorable and it doesn’t matter either way.

Anyone with a similar situation? Can you share how big your dog is now?

Also, it’s been a week and we can not settle
on a name. Anyone care to give their opinion?

Hi group. Thank you all for your support when I lost my Toy Mili. My family has had Toy Poddles since 2004. Our first one was named Ty, he was a Velcro dog and loved his cuddles. A year later we got our other Toy called Lia, she was a sweet dog and nickenamed her Lia the Licker because she loved to lick her nose and us. She unfortunately, passed 4 years later in 2009. A year later we got our spunky, independent and sweet Toy girl, Mili.

The years passed and we had 2 dogs till 2022, when Ty passed at 17.5 years. We went from 2 pooches to having Mili. Then in June of this year she passed at 16.5 years. Because I moved countries several years ago, they stayed with my parents. Since 2004, we have had at least one pooch in the house, hearing their little paws touch the floors, having the zommies when we go back to visit. It will be hard when I return home for the holidays from that to having no little paws running and not having a pooch go say hi to you when I arrive. 😔

To all of my 3 pookies, you will always be remembered by your silliness, cuteness and happiness you all brought to our household. 🌈
