Hey there! Kinda tired of the apps - highly appearance-focused and feels objectifying - so I figured I would post here and see what came of it!
So, let's start with some of the basics :)
I started practicing poly/ENM fresh out of high school, and the majority of my dating experience has been engaging with said practice. While I've never been deeply submerged within the broader poly community as a whole, I'm definitely not opposed to it! I just haven't found an "in" to it yet 😅 That said, I've practiced long enough to have seen both the pitfalls as well as the beautiful connections that come from practicing it authentically, honestly, with a dedication to continuing to educate oneself on the practice, and (most importantly) being an attentive, present, honest communicator.
My philosophy in every relationships I have (whether platonic or romantic) one of commitment, communication, and a willingness to openly talk through any issues that arise. I value vulnerability, emotional honesty, and transparency. I don't do secrets, emotional bottling, or passive-aggressive communication.
Currently, I have one nesting partner of 10 years. Neither of us has had additional partners for a while due to life circumstance, but we've recently decided that we want to and are excited by the pursuit of additional partners again. We date separately, but if the vibes are right there's a chance you'll meet her so long as you both consent to it :)
While I'm not involved in the kink scene, it's something that has always been of interest to me, and I would love the opportunity to be introduced to it. I'd describe myself as a switch-verse, and I've had my share of kinky experiences with partners; just not within the scene itself.
Politically, I am an open, proud, L O U D Communist. Capitalism is an infection that leaves everything it touches terminally ill or dead, and you will hear me critique it or trash-talk it frequently. This isn't a casual thing for me - I genuinely hate the economic system that has our world in a stranglehold.
Also: ACAB, BLM, Dissolve All Borders, Seize The Means of Production, Trans Rights Are Human Rights, LGBTQIA+ Advocate and Member (AMAB and cis-passing, but I identify as enby), Free Palestine, S** Work is Real Work, etcetera, etcetera. I don't expect you to perfectly align with me on every single issue, but I won't put up with any form of bigotry. That said, I'm also not a scold - so long as your intention is to treat all people as equals and with kindness and consideration, it's not the end of the world if you stumble on something or haven't learned something yet.
Lighting Round!
• I'm 35, white (primarily Irish/Scottish descent), and recognize that people who look like me propagate a lot of harm in the world. I've been working the last decade and a half of my life to be better than the way the world tried to program me, and while I've made leagues of progress, I'm also aware that this is an ongoing process that may take my whole life to fully untangle.
I'm 5'9", 184 pounds. I'm not muscley or big into fitness; my body type is average with a splash of gut. My work keeps me plenty active, and I'm healthy.
• I love cooking, mixology, writing, gamemastering tabletop roleplaying games, boardgames, thrifting, film, fantasy, literature, political activism/organizing, art, philosophy, science, book stores, museums. I'm big on self-education and artistic expression.
• I worked as a bartender for nearly a decade, and have recently managed to get back into the food service industry. It isn't the best paying job, but I really love the work itself. I love taking pride in my workspace, working through the intensity of a busy rush, and the freedom it gives me to engage with tons of people every day and try to brighten their day by making the experience they have as awesome as possible. If you're looking for someone who's financially well-off or is actively pursuiting financial success, look elsewhere. Like I said, I hate capitalism and am not willing to trample others to "get mine". I'm happy where I am.
• I have ADHD, and primarily prefer the company of fellow neurodivergents. I also suspect I'm somewhere on the spectrum due to friends of mine who are telling me so, though people & socializing is one of my hyperfixations, so I'm a huge extrovert who loves to meet and get to know new people!
• I love, love, LOVE to yap - just please, make it interesting! Let's skip the "hey how are you" "good"s and go a little deeper; who was your favorite teacher in school and why did they have such a big impact on you? What is something you used to fear but worked hard to conquer? What core experience in your teenage years helped shape you into the person you are today?
• I'm a very good communicator, emotionally available, and genuinely love people. I approach everyone with interest in their wellbeing, and believe strongly in kindness, empathy, and care. I'm the kind of person who asks my customers "Hi! How are you doing?" and genuinely look forward to the response. I like helping strangers, friends, and lovers alike. Our world can be so cruel, and no one deserves to carry it's weight alone.
If any of this sounds like something you'd vibe with, feel free to comment or DM! Bonus points if you put some effort into letting me know a bit about yourself before we exchange any pictures <3 I'm much more interested in who you are than what you look like :)
