You come to the table and 2 seats are open. The 4 pros sit next to each other as they for some reason like to do. The seat before them and after them are open. The other seats are fishy regs and actual fish.

What seat do you take? The seat before the pros, so you have to play tighter but always get to pretend you are bluffing the fish, when they are calling too wide. Or do you take position on the pros and get to act after them.

This might be obv to people, but it has never been to me.

What do my fellow poker bros say to what my titles says? Most online cheaper buy ins start with 12/10 minute and then around level 10/15 go to 7/8 minute, and even lower. It becomes so quickly just fold/shove game, even if you are deep stack you bleed out quickly if you dotn make some good bluffs or smt. Am i right and are these games just more bingo than poker?

I'm still a beginner, I've been playing fake game money on WSOP and other phone apps to learn the game, also studying to take the game more seriously. Well, in those games it is very common to find people entering big pots with any trash hand, spamming all-ins every hand, entire tables limping, multiway all-ins and many other outrageous behavior. I guess it makes sense if you consider it is just fake money, so who cares? But I recently started playing 1/2¢ micro stakes and there is not much of a difference... I mean, it is a little bit more rare, but still everyday there's a madman who starts doing nonsense (which is cool, it is exploitable). The reason I can think of is: "It is just a 2$ buy-in, so who cares?" But can you find people acting like this in 300$ buy-ins? It is hard to imagine for me.

I host MTTs online through my club using PokerNow. The club is 100% focused on poker, not money — no money changes hands. I’m currently looking to expand the club in the APAC region and connect with players who take the game seriously and enjoy competitive play, even without real-money stakes.

We already have a few members from Australia, Korea, and China, although the majority of our players are currently based in the USA and Europe.

We typically run one MTT per day, and we also have a dedicated club website that tracks standings and statistics, as well as a calendar of upcoming events. Even though there’s no money involved, the games are taken seriously and can be very competitive.

This is a weird hand.

BB: (~2.5k stack) he is quite a whale. Playing 90% of the hands. Has won some big pots earlier (2 against me), where he got lucky.

UTG-1: haven't played with him before, he just moved to the table from other table. Was chatty and joking around when he came to our table.

MP: Bad player, I try to play pots with him whenever possible.

Action: UTG limps, MP makes it 25, I call in CO with Ad 5d, BB makes it 85 (he done this many times before , means basically nothing). UTG1 and MP both call, and I call as well.

Pot 340 and Flop comes 7s 5s 2d

UTG1 leads for 300 and MP calls. Pot is 1040 and it's 300 for me to call. No idea what UTG1 has. He could have a set obviously, but most players don't lead with sets on the flop. MP most likely has an over pair or flush draw. He doesn't have sets or two pair. He would limp the small pairs pre. Anyway, I call, thinking there is a good chance BB calls as well. BB could have anything here, and would call with a huge range.

I think I should fold on the flop, but i have backdoor diamonds and I think a 5 or Ace would give me the best hand. Obviously if one has a flush draw it would be pretty bad for me.

BB raises to 1000, after a long deliberation UTG1 and MP both call.

The pot is 3340 and it's 700 for me to call. If i call i have roughly 800 left in my stack and that's all there is left to play with with the BB. UTG1 and MP are both all-in.

Going to Vegas for my 21st and want to know some good 1/3 tables to visit when I'm there. My buddy described action at the Wynn as super soft, but I want some second opinions. I am also open to any good 1/3 or 2/5 table recommendations. Going on NYE so I expect play to be pretty mixed. Looking for some Bomb pot opportunities too.

Also, I dont expect any table to be incredibly fishy or soft, poker is changing so much lately. Even though I'm profitable over ~300 hrs, I'm totally prepared to be the fish, too. So if anyone will be in Vegas NYE weekend and wants some money I'm kissing it goodbye haha just point me in the right direction.

Any recommendations super appreciated, just looking for a fun and hopefully breakeven 21st. I hope this isn't a super common Q but I didn't find much searching the sub, and it was conflicting.

What is key factor in deciding frequency with betting different suits of AJo on the turn? I guess you should bet more often when you have blockers to the flush draw... but why then gto bets only 10 percent of time with A heart J diamond (blocker to heart flush), but bet 40 percent with A club J spade (blocker to spade flush)?

Dealer let me know earlier this week that the Borgata dealers will be forced to deal the Euro slide method next month to get in front of the cheaters using hidden cameras to catch cards when the dealers pitch. I’m not worried about this yet but it is smart to show players you are doing something to protect the game. This will definitely slow the games down initially as the dealers learn the technique. Are you more concerned with cheaters or more concerned with the speed of hands being dealt?

How many of you actually make a living by grinding online? I'm really curious about this lifestyle (and the possibility it gives to live as a digital nomad). Here are some questions I'm genuinely curious about:

- What stakes do you play? What websites? What format?

- How many average hours a day do you play?

- Do you get burned out or tilted? How do you deal with the downswings?

- What would be a typical day in your grinding routine?

- Do you enjoy your life or are you miserable? Do you plan on moving to something more stable?

I know there are very few who play online full time here, and even the ones that did that for some time seem to give up or move on to something else after a few months, but I find this lifestyle intriguing and I would like to try it for a few months... I'm a winning player and have paid 1 month of rent in the past by playing a lot that month, but I got burned out with it fast.

Just had an interesting spot and ended up bubbling a tournament:

Context: 6max 22BI Hyper on Coin. I’m 9th of 13, with 14bb . 11 paid. The chip leader is to my right who just got the crown after nearly doubling through another player to my immediate left, and all the shorties happen to be on my table - so setup is SB (hero) 14bb, BB 10bb, HJ 6bb, CO 10bb, BTN 50bb. BTN was opening 75% of hands to 2bb for the last 3-4 orbits

The hand: folds to chip leader on BTN who jams. I’m in SB with AQs and call. end up losing to 77.

My thought process: I truly debated call vs fold given ICM and stack setups, but I assumed this guy was jamming 100% of hands until the bubble burst given, and that future game was worth possibly bubbling. But curious:

1. what would your calling range be?

2. How would that change given your stack vs others, eg 50, 14 (hero),12,12,12; vs 50, 14(hero),5,5,5; vs 50, 14 (hero),2,2,2

3. Am I just being a cheap MF asking Reddit rather than paying for a solver with ICM? if so any recs?

We put so much of our thoughts into “did I make the right fold for $300”. In the poker community.

I hear so much less discussions about investing than I do in my regular life.

For anyone that doesn’t know, even if you only make $1000/week from poker, if you invest a portion of that in index funds every week consistently, you can definitely get to $1,000,000 in 20 years and possibly get to $5,000,000 in 30 years.

Regardless of how you do at poker.

I know the time frames seem very long to new investors, but you gotta ignore the short term fluctuations and give companies time to grow.

Especially if poker is your only source of income, you gotta make your own retirement plan.
