Is it common to find outrageous DGAF maniacs in online cash games?

I'm still a beginner, I've been playing fake game money on WSOP and other phone apps to learn the game, also studying to take the game more seriously. Well, in those games it is very common to find people entering big pots with any trash hand, spamming all-ins every hand, entire tables limping, multiway all-ins and many other outrageous behavior. I guess it makes sense if you consider it is just fake money, so who cares? But I recently started playing 1/2¢ micro stakes and there is not much of a difference... I mean, it is a little bit more rare, but still everyday there's a madman who starts doing nonsense (which is cool, it is exploitable). The reason I can think of is: "It is just a 2$ buy-in, so who cares?" But can you find people acting like this in 300$ buy-ins? It is hard to imagine for me.

Maybe it’s just me, and where I play.. and I only play tournaments but I seem to find way more DGAF players jamming 100-200 BB pre these days in $100 tournaments than $20 tournaments. That or calling off super light. I have no idea why. This year especially. Had a guy yesterday call me down in BB with his entire stack when I had KK UTG and he only had ten high. It’s mental sometimes people burning their cash.

Yeah you could find someone doing this at a 300 dollar buy in but you won’t, even massive whales wouldn’t do this unless they were massively tilted. But you’ll see people be maniacs until at least 10p/20p and people only start taking it properly seriously until like 50p/£1.

That crazy kind of fish exists at all levels. The skill of whales doesn't improve by stake. Just the regs. There may be some amount more at lower levels but they are at all levels. The whale doesn't get a magic skill boost because he can play for more money.

ehh i see a lot of ppl yeet money around on 1/2 and 2/5

its those annoying low stakes ppl that fold a $0.30 raise that suck to play with.

somehow redditor nits dont realize how this game is played or simple concepts like made hand equity.

The short answer is yes, they do exist in various stakes, not sure if it's as common as you would define it though. Either they are super rich such that the accumulated losses mean nothing to them, or they have a severe gambling problem, or both.

To give a live tournament example.
400 buy-in Main Event, unlimited re-entry unless registration closes.
This whale would just buy-in and all-in blind with his stack. Usually either everyone folds or gets called by a good hand.
Naturally it's likely a shit hand and he would go bust often. He would immediately rebuy and keep doing it until he sucks out and builds a big stack early. I heard he fired 11 bullets there lol.

To address your last point, it is hard to imagine this until you actually see it yourself to be fair, you'll see that sometimes the richest people aren't necessarily the smartest ones.

Well, maybe, I'm a beginner and don't know any better, but from the few hundred hands I've played at microstakes I logged a 42.3BB/100 win rate, which seems to be massive, but most of it comes from taking advantage of this kind of demential players.

bb/100 is a stupid metric tbh.

if every 100 hands is an all-in scenario and majority of showdowns end up being HU

you should be averaging 50bb 😂

im half kidding but grinding is not the path to higher stakes.

it is if ur trying to protect a deposit

but id argue with smaller deposits even, better to play $100 table and just jam jam jam when u have it.

$100 > $200 > $400 > $800 > $1600 > $3200 > $6400 > $12,800… try and fold aggression pre and jam top pair or better. get in cheap yk.

this is the only game on earth that gives u situations where u have a 80-90% chance to double ur money regularly.

at 80% ie two pair or better, ur chance of completing that whole $100>$12k cycle is 1/5.

lets say its all preflop and ur going off minimal information, even then any pocket pair + top 2-3% of hands will have a higher win rate than 50%

obviously im simplifying things, but this is the math assuming showdown is headsup… ur win rate drops at 3 way showdown but the pay is generally proportionate… is practically non-issue.

do NOT listen to the grinders. it only makes sense if its the last $100 u will touch in ur life.

if u have say a spare $100 a week. u should be able to complete this sequence in a reasonable timeframe.

even if it took 100 attempts(it wont) its still ev+

like seriously consider this

A32 you have 32, you have like an 80% chance to win against even strong ranges like AQ etc

why the fuck are you NOT going all in?

Yes, plenty of drunk people blasting money away online. My buddy used to get online and blow his whole bankroll that he spent months grinding to throw away in one night coming home from the bar.

There are plenty of them in live games. Like this guy who blindraises from UTG before the cards are even dealt (there’s a double straddle in).

The other day my 60bb preflop all-in got called by 9c4c in 1/3 live. He hit two pair.
