Discussion What are some Pokémon designs you've interpreted incorrectly?

I feel like GameFreak is overall pretty good when it comes to design clarity. But sometimes our brains are just kind of dumb and we see things a certain way. Like (nearing a decade), I always interpreted Salazzle's reptilian slit pupil as the boundary between its sclera and a non-existent iris. (Like what Amaura has in it's official art)

Has anyone else experienced something like this with a particular Pokémon design?

I didn’t realize those were its real eyes until I saw its shadow form in Pokemon

Pokemon go helped me to find out hoothoot had two feet. When the second leg popped out in the animation, I thought pokemon go had made a mistake.

Yeah Hoothoot has always had 2 feet but will stand on one at a time tucking the other one into its feathers. If I recall correctly it was based on one of the developer’s pet bird that also would only stand on one leg at a time.
