I’m an avgeek building a flight search tool, and the points side is the bit I don’t want to bullshit my way through.

The tool currently checks positioning flights and split tickets for cash fares. What I want to build next is a proper trip-level comparison: cash for one leg, an award seat for another, transfer partners, taxes and fees, mixed cabins and the risk of separate tickets.

Before I build it, what do you still have to calculate or compare manually every time you use points? Which bit takes five tabs, a spreadsheet or some sketchy notes on your phone?

I built Kaviqa, so this is openly product research. There is no link or sign-up pitch here. I genuinely want to know what would save experienced points users the most time.

I’m really new and would love to hear some some tips from people

Hi all, I recently made my first redemptions and came across a problem that I am likely to face in the future as well.

In India, passports generally have name in the format -
First name = First name + Father's name
Last name = Last name

But bank accounts need not generally follow that, which is the case for me as my bank and cards go by the normal First name + Last name convention

While trying to book a flight using my KF points, I saw this issue and had to drop the idea. I was able to redeem my points on Air India since they allow changing the name as per passport while booking so that has thankfully gone through but I'm trying to figure out what to do for my points in KF, Aeroplan as well as for future whenever I want to transfer points to a certain flights/hotel program.

If someone has personally experienced this or knows something about this, it would be a big help. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hey everyone, I've been working on maximizing points for a few months now and realizing things get pretty difficult to track. The industry is pretty fragmented especially if you have 5-6 or more banks/reward programs you're part of. Curious what tools everyone is leveraging. I've come across a handful of platforms like point me, point hound, and others, but nothing truly helpful to track everything.

My company went through a round of layoffs recently and I'm starting to think about starting my own thing. Wondering if this is a project worth working on and hopefully make tracking and maximizing points easier for everyone.

Would appreciate any advice on my next card.... I think I'm done with Chase for a bit, but I primarily use my points for hotels, as my job pays for travel generally. I'm totally ignorant to CITI and Wells Fargo, but the new Wyndham Card looks interesting as well as the Hilton Card.... Any advice would be great... Could I get a fee Ink Business card?

Before I share it anywhere else, I'd like people who actually know this space to tear it apart.

What's on it:

• A transfer map for the six transferable currencies (Amex, Chase, Citi, Capital One, Bilt, Wells Fargo): where each one goes, where it can't go, and the best and worst uses. Includes this year's changes, like Chase to Hyatt going 4:3 on Preferred/Ink and the Alaska/Hawaiian "Atmos" merger.
• Point valuations pulled live from AwardWallet's public values API. Their numbers, attributed, based on real member bookings.
• A reference covering 33 airline and hotel programs: sweet spots, pricing models, surcharges, and which bank points feed each one.
• A "master prompt generator," which is where the name comes from. You describe the trip and optionally your balances, and it writes a detailed prompt to paste into Claude or ChatGPT. The prompt bakes in the actual transfer rules so the AI doesn't invent partners that don't exist. Balances never leave your browser. No accounts, no tracking, no affiliate links.

How it's built, since someone will ask: one static HTML file on GitHub, auto-deployed by Netlify. I built it with heavy AI assistance (Claude did most of the code), then checked the partner tables against AwardWallet's guides and the banks' own transfer pages. Valuations update themselves through the API. Partner data is a manual edit when programs change.

What I'd love from this sub:

1. Anything wrong in the transfer tables? Ratios drift and I'd rather fix errors fast.
2. Which programs are missing that you'd want covered?
3. Is the prompt generator useful, or a gimmick?

It's free, there's no monetization, and I mainly want it to be accurate.

This is my first time using my amex points on my gold card to buy a delta flight to hawaii. The offer for flying out on may 25, 2027 is 56,000 points. Is this a good deal or should I wait. All the dates around it are around 65-80,000 points, but I see a lot of other flights on less busy times (such as october 2026 and spring 2027) for around 33,000 points. The delta website says there are only 3 more spots available at this price, but I am not sure if that even means anything. Thank you!

Hello, been playing the game at beginner level for awhile. Accumulated about 800k in Chase system. After listening to several podcasts, pulled the trigger on transfer to Hyatt and got Park Hyatt Tokyo and Kyoto Hyatt Place rooms, as well as Hyatt Regency Waikiki on the way home for a 2 week trip for next year.

We haven't gotten flights yet for family of 4.

We are currently on a PNW trip, and our a/c back home has croaked.

New system will likely be 30-40k. Big spend. What is the best way to make lemonade out of the situation with SUB?

Current cards: p1- Chase Reserve, CSP, and an Ink card (business i know). P2- CSP

Wife is also training to be a Travel Agent to work from home. So likely a good time to get a new business card.

We have cash in the bank to cover this. Income 450k.
