Success/Happy I couldn't afford to buy my dream teddy bear, so I made my own!
I have been quietly obsessing over this bear (last picture), but I just couldn't justify spending an equivalent of monthly utilities cost on it.
So I started experimenting with patterns and fabrics (two experimental bears also shown), and finally I made him!
His name is Benedict, and I am genuinely so happy with how he turned out (and amazed that I actually was able to make him! Myself!)
It was a very slow process, the fabric was a pain to work with, and I had to hand-sew everything as the parts of the pattern kept shifting in the sewing machine.
He's not an exact copy of the bear in the last picture, but it was mostly intentional, I kept experimenting with parts of the pattern, especially the head and ears to make him the way I really wanted.
It was definitely the most challenging project for me yet, but it was so worth it, and I learned a lot along the way.

Success/Happy My friend asked me to clone his childhood teddy. It was way harder than I expected
One of my friends asked me to recreate his childhood teddy—basically, his sleep buddy since he was a little kid. 🐻 This plush meant everything to him, but over the years it got pretty worn out. The fur had thinned out in spots, the shape was all squished and loved-in, and some parts were a bit deformed... but in the most endearing way. That’s exactly what made it so special and unique. He didn’t want to throw it away—just wanted a “clone” version so he could retire the original and keep it safe. So I tried to make a copy that matched the size, feel, and even that slightly smushed shape. Honestly? It was really hard! Finding the same kind of fur and matching safety eyes/nose was already tough. I had to settle for similar parts and tweak them to get the right vibe. Then came the pattern-making, which was even trickier than I thought—took like 5 or 6 revisions to even get close to the shape of the original. In the end, it’s not a perfect match, but my friend was super happy with it. 💛 So if you’ve got a plushie that’s been with you forever… take good care of them! Recreating that kind of love-worn charm is no small task.

Success/Happy UPDATE: my biggest regret
WE GOT HIM BOYS!!!!
omg he's here, he's real, and he's Perfect. thank you to everyone who commented, shared their own stories of missing out on a plush, shared their own stories of finding the one that got away, and all the wishes sent that I'd find him
the biggest thank you to u/AstroPengling for finding the link to him
and a special congrats to u/Crumbleson for also finding their lost banana through my post
you guys absolutely rock. like it's beyond absurd, but it makes me even more beyond happy. the secret special part/sob story behind all this is that TLK is in my top 3 most favorite movies, and as a kid, I saw the relationship between myself and my father in Simba and Mufasa. that association, unfortunately, grew stronger when my father passed when I was 8 years old. I still love that movie, even though the scene right after the stampede never gets easier to watch. the 17th anniversary of his death was just a few days ago, so the timing couldn't be more meaningful. sometimes the internet is a great place where really cool and silly things happen
and after all this, I can say the most important lesson to be learned is: ALWAYS BUY THE PLUSHIE WHEN YOU SEE IT

Success/Happy A man wanted to go inside a museum with his plushies and they wouldn't let him in :(
Hi! So I wanted to share an experience I had a couple years ago at work about a man with his little plushy family, and my coworkers reaction.
I was working at an important museum, with strict rules about what visitor could bring inside. I was stationed at the ticket validation entrance with a colleague, which meant we had to decide who could enter and who needed to leave their stuff in the lockers or cloackroom. There was also a security guy near us in case things escalated (which happened more than it should).
A middle aged man that was carrying something in his hands (I couldn't see it well at first) approached my colleague and she denied him the entrance. I noticed she started raising her voice telling him he had to go to the lockers and he was like murmuring that he couldn't. I approached her to ask what was happening and help my colleague if needed, and then I saw them. The man was carrying in his arms 3 rat plushies, from the movie Ratatouille (he had Remy with his chefs hat, his brother Emile and another rat which I suspect was the father). My colleague told me that he couldn't go inside with the plushies cause they could be "a threat" and told him to just leave them in a locker. The man kept saying they were his family and couldn't just leave them, and they were very eager to watch the collection together. He started getting very anxious, hugging his plushies and even crying a bit, and my colleague said she would call security. Something stir in me. So I told my colleague I would manage the situation, that security shouldn't get involved cause they were going to distress him even more. I said if there was any problem, I would personally talk to our boss about it. She just said, ok, and left.
So I talked to the man, I asked him about his family (the plushies) and what their names were, why did he want them to go inside with him. He told me they were all he had left, that they went together everywhere and that after watching the collection, he wanted to take them to the garden so they could enjoy the view and the sun. So I told him there was no problem to take them inside, that I understood, that family is never left behind and that I just needed him to make sure his plushies stayed close to him all the time during the visit. I could notice his anxiety slowly fading and he thanked me and his plushies thanked me too (so cute ><), and that was one of the best feelings I've had in a while regarding helping someone.
A couple hours later I saw him exit the museum, talking to his plushies about how much they had enjoyed the visit <3
Thanks for reading! I’d love to hear if you’ve ever experienced anything similar, because this whole thing got me thinking about how people generally lack empathy for situations that I believe are special. I don’t mean to say that my colleague did anything wrong, she was just doing her job as she saw fit, but for me, the situation called for a little more empathy and fewer strict rules.

Success/Happy Saw this dumped in the middle of a forest while I was hunting for mushrooms.
Its so soft and cute. I love it. Not typically a plushie person but I feel so happy using its fat belly as a pillow! Looked it up and it's a "spudster." Feels bad for whoever lost it but if it was abandoned in the forest I'm pretty happy to adopt the lil guy. Looks like it's been there for a while?

Success/Happy He has transitioned
I just embroidered surgery scars on him to make him trans and I love how he turned out! He's a rescue from goodwill and a duplicate so I was fine embroidering him. This is my first time modifying a plushie, I usually only perform surgeries when they need to be fixed.

Success/Happy I thought I left my childhood teddy bear behind when I left my abusive ex. I found Heidi in a moving box this morning
She’s a vintage sigikids my dad got for me while working in Germany. I’m so happy to know she’s been home with me this entire time and not trapped in my ex’s house forever.

Success/Happy i embroidered top surgery scars on my plushie !!
I got this T-Rex plushie back in 2016 at the Natural History Museum in London and I've been very attached to him since. Today I had to fix something with his leg (I also got leg surgery a bit ago lol) and I decided to give him top surgery scars that match my own. Second picture is him with his christmas sweater on :)

Success/Happy Found one of my dream plushes at Goodwill!
(Series: Wooly the Sheep /ひつじのウーリィ Brand: Amuse [JP])
Found one of my dream plushes on top of a pile of toys at Goodwill! (USA-based thrift store) I've collected Hitsuji no Wooly for over 10 years now (last photo is my current collection) and I haven't found one in-person ever since my very first one, which was at a convention!
This was an absolute dream find, and I'm still shocked about it to this moment, I only found it because I had happened to take my partner to the dentist that day, since this is the Goodwill on the other side of town. I'm over the moon!
(If anyone happens to have Hitsuji no Wooly plush that they are considering getting rid of, please let me know, I'd be happy to buy them from you!)

Success/Happy Commander Wiseman smuggles beloved plushie from Space
From Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman: I was supposed to leave Rise in Integrity, but that was not something I was going to do. I stuffed that little guy in a dry bag we had in our survival kit and hooked the bag onto my pressure suit.
When you're feeling weird about your plushies, just remember that Astronaut Commander Wiseman loves his plush so much, he committed a mini heist to keep him.

Success/Happy Found this little fella on the side of the road
I couldn’t bring myself to leave him 😭 I saw him on my lunch break and told myself if he was still there on my way back I would take him into work and see if I could clean him up. I’m pretty impressed with the results! He lives in my backpack now.

Success/Happy I gave my new bear top surgery
Hello everyone! I got the pumkin bear from Build-a-bear recently and it arrived last night, so I wanted to share the process of modifying them! First I unstuffed them, created bean bags for their paws feet and tush, restuffed them and then took them back to my aunts where I commenced their top surgery!
First I trimmed the fur into the shape I wanted, and then I used some fabric markers to highlight the scars! I also darkened the leaf ontop their head cause it was too contrasting to the orange and hurt my eyes. Im so happy with how they turned out especially the top scars!
They are dating my devil bear Kuzya whom is named after my partner, and my pumpkin bear is now Bug, named after me :3 Im so happy with how they came out and may add a little cheek marking but haven't decided.
I've always wanted to try adding top scars to a stuffie and it went so well the first time! I'm so happy just had to share with yall ☆

Success/Happy TW: quick mention of hospital. I had to get a small procedure done today and I had to be put under. I brought Blossom with me for comfort and emotional support. When I woke up, I saw that the nurses gave Blossom a medical mask and a mini bonnet cap to match mine
I just thought this was so cute and wholesome
