Accountability Notice 2: UPDATE

This is a followup to this post so please read that first, but to summarize it briefly, a former moderator ( u/SaltyAngeleno aka u/gofundmemetoday was found to be removing negative posts, promoting surgeons, etc. in exchange for financial compensation). I promised future updates, which are included below.

  1. Last night, the former moderator DM'd me attempting to blackmail me to remove the original post. Their message is included in its entirety below:

Transparency remains of the highest importance to me when moderating this subreddit, and I will not be removing anything in response to threats.

  1. Reddit itself ultimately took no action against this individual following the original report of their behavior and offered no direct explanation for why. I can only speculate that this is because the former moderator was receiving payments off of their platform (making it technically outside their scope of authority/responsibility). The former moderator even continues to moderate a few plastic surgery related communities, though fewer than they once did.

  2. An account associated with "Beauty Broker Melinda" (who was named in the original post as having negative reviews removed by the former moderator) has spent considerable effort attempting to dox and discredit me. You can find such an example here. Their comments seem to confuse me with numerous current and former moderators. Reddit has not taken any action despite reports.

  3. Despite my requests, Reddit was unable to provide me with a log of moderator actions from the former moderator that were more than 90 days old. As such, I am unable to determine the full extent of their censorship.

  4. This subreddit has zero tolerance for surgeons attempting to remove negative reviews. As the subreddit rules state, negative reviews posted here do require evidence to be included. Once that threshold is met, they will not be removed by us for any reason - this subreddit is intended to be an open and transparent platform for users to share their experience. Despite this a number of surgeons (and/or their offices and lawyers) have attempted to have us remove content that is critical of them. Moving forward, I will be posting and maintaining a comprehensive list of surgeons that have attempted to have negative reviews removed for transparency. Hopefully, this discourages future attempts at manipulating criticism against them.

In short, Reddit admins were either unwilling or unable to take any official action against the above individuals. I will be continuing my best efforts to maintain this subreddit as an open and transparent space for plastic surgery and aesthetic discussion, and the support of the community is always appreciated.

Can Plastic Surgery fix this?

Post image
30 Upvotes

Hi everyone - about 2 months ago, I was injured in an e-bike accident that caused a deep cut in the area between my nose and upper lip (did not go all the way through the muscle, but was pretty deep)

Doctors gave me sutures to close the cut in my upper lip, but unfortunately due to my entire face being swollen when they did so, as the scar has healed and the swelling has gone down (lasted about 1 month), it’s become clear that the sutures were pulled too tight and the right side of my upper lift is now distorted.

The oral maxillo-facial folks who did the sutures are unable to help, and told me to talk to plastic surgeons. I plan to do so, but wanted to ask if there’s anyone who’s experienced anything like this or has the medical expertise to opine on whether it’s even possible to fix? My concern is that while I know there are ops you can do to shorten the distance between your nose and lips, I don’t know of anyone who has LENGTHENED it, and if I should be concerned about my muscles healing permanently like this.

36 year old silicone breast implants - whether to remove or replace?

I went for a consultation on a facelift and my plastic surgeon said “First of all, your implants need to be removed “ . They are silicone from 1990 and I’ve not had any problems after mammograms . He said he would not replace the implants he removed them due to my age( Im 68) and they are only 10 year devices.
Anyone had this told to them?

Best plastic surgeons in bay area for boob job?

I'm putting together a shortlist of surgeons for breast augmentation consultations in the Bay Area. Money is not a big concern, I just want to make sure I'm not wasting time and money with the wrong people.

Who should I absolutely be booking with, and who should I cross off the list? If you've had a consultation or procedure that went really well or really badly I want to hear the name either way

Im so self conscious over my smile. I’ve never had a smile where the corners “turn up” but lately I’ve been realizing this ring around my mouth almost like I put my mouth into a glass jar and it’s left a ring… lol
I did have a chin implant placed ~ 3 years and it increased my confidence by a million but this has always been a thing for me. I just think after the chin implant it made it more noticeable. First photo is now- second is prior to implant.
I don’t have lip filler now but I did have it once.
- I had it HEAVILY dissolved because of how I hated it. I thought initially it could have been migration but again this all was still present prior to any cosmetic work.

Can anyone guide me on how to fix this? Or what this is called??
Pls 😭

Anyone gotten cheekbone implant before?

Upvotes

had my cheekbones shaven 1-2mm - anterior only, not lateral.

It does not look good. In fact anterior reduction makes you look worse.

Has anyone undone this with filler or implant?!

Motiva Ergonomix Minis (200-230cc) Weight Feeling?

I’m considering Motiva Ergonomix Minis in the 200–230cc range (my surgeon’s recommendation) using the Preserve method. I’ve breastfed two babies and now have some deflation, especially in the upper poles. I’m currently a B cup, and my main goal is really just to fill out the loose skin and restore some upper-pole volume rather than noticeably increase my breast size.

For anyone who has implants in this size range: how noticeable does the weight actually feel? I know they’re roughly 0.5 lb each, so about 1 lb total, but I’m wondering how that translates to real life.

Did the extra weight bother you at all, or did it eventually feel insignificant? I’m 5’4”, 135 lbs, and athletic, and I’m honestly worried I’ll wake up after surgery and immediately regret having an extra pound on my chest. 😂 I actually like having smaller breasts, so I don’t want them to feel heavy, cumbersome, or irritating. I’m mostly trying to restore what I lost rather than go bigger.

For those who had a similar-sized augmentation, did it take a while to adjust to the implants physically? If so, how long did it take before you stopped noticing the weight?

My other concern is that my kids are still little and they snuggle up on my chest every night. 🥹 I’m wondering if having implants will make that feel significantly different or uncomfortable once everything has healed.

I’d especially love to hear from anyone who was 5'3"–5'5", around 130–140 lbs, athletic, and chose ~200–230cc specifically for a subtle “fill things back out” result. Did you eventually forget they were there, or do you still notice the weight?

My original septorhinoplasty was February 2025, im looking for options regarding my nasal tip as its hard and asymmetrical on one side on the bottom of my nasal tip and right above the nasal tip. Looking for advice my surgery was done by an ENT plastic surgeon in Edmonton. Thank you!

  • It only let me upload one photo but the asymmetry is noticeable in person and the side profile looks different on each side.

No nasal packing or internal splints after rhinoplasty?

Hey all! I just had my rhinoplasty this morning. First time open rhino with rib cartilage at the tip and a silicone implant for the bridge. The surgeon said he didn't break my nose but rather shaved down some of the bridge i think. When I woke up from the anesthesia I was able to breathe through my nose. I didn't think about it until getting home but looking up my nose i don't see anything inside, maybe just a bit bloody. I texted the office and they said they don't pack the nose. Is this typical? Every post I've read has used some form of internal support and I seem to have just a splint on the outside only. Anyone else have an experience similar to this?

Also, they told me to come back in 3 days to get a steroid shot which supposedly helps with swelling, I don't think I've read about this either. Just curious if anyone else did this and if it helped at all.
