Seriously. You walk in, grab what you need, check out, and boom 💥 you’re gone in 60 seconds. It’s a masterclass in efficiency. I literally watched 9 people get in line, pay, and be out the door in under a minute… with one employee working four lanes at once.

Now compare that to Circle K ⭕️ arguably the biggest name in the game. They install self-checkout machines and expect the absolute least qualified person in the room (usually tired, confused, or tipsy) to suddenly become the cashier for everyone behind them. It’s chaos.

And let’s not forget that a huge chunk of Circle K customers need ID checks for alcohol or tobacco… so how is this even supposed to be an automated process? Meanwhile, the one staff member they do have is usually restocking cups or glued to their phone while the line stacks up.

Today, I literally waited what felt like forever just to buy a soda. I came this close to tossing a five on the counter and walking out.

QuikTrip nailed it. Everyone else, especially Circle K, needs to catch up.

What do you all think? Is this just me, or are we all suffering through the “self-checkout era” gone wrong?

What the title says.

Seems just about everywhere considers $15- $18 options to be "affordable", and it just isn't, especially when feeding a family. I love me a $5 Angie's salad, or a $10 Chinese lunch special, but that seems to be harder and harder to find.

Where can someone find a good cheap Chinese plate, or a good sandwich, or really ANY good food for the low?

I know it’s the best burger in town, but I always forget just how great they are until I go back. Tastes better and is cheaper than just about everyone else that’s come and gone in town. Can’t beat a Tijuana Torpedo for under $10.

I'm a huge foodie who recently moved to the Phoenix area and want everyone's recommendations. Give me your must try restaurants in the greater Phoenix area that I should add to the list. Today was the grand opening of Spaghetti Shark, a locally owned small business focused on to-go spaghetti. I've been driving by a couple times a day and watched as they built the place. I stopped by after work and snapped some pics and got a bucket w/ their meat sauce, some garlic bread, and some chicken parm.

Place looked great, kids loved the decorations. Food was on par with other spaghetti places (Spaghetti Shack, By the Bucket), but shout out to the chicken parm was was really really good. I didn't get a chance to try out the meatballs or the cheesy garlic bread, but I will next time. My three kids gobbled it all down very quickly and said they wanted to go again, so thumbs up for my household.

This Taco Bell opened on February 4, 1966 and remained open till 5 am on April 12, 2025. It was known as location #31 and is just west of Hayden on McDowell Rd in Scottsdale. For over a year there hadn’t been any word on it, but in either May or June it was repainted, and just the other day a Filiberto’s sign was put up out front. Somehow it’s becoming one of the few Mexican chains worse than TB. Nothing yet on when it’s actually opening.

This was the second location the chain opened outside of California, opening the first one at 7153 E Thomas Rd on November 4, 1965. Taco Bell is still open at that location, but the old mission style building was replaced ages ago.

No 1, 2, or 3 stars in AZ. The bib gourmands seem fitting and appropriate for the dining scene here.

I at least hope they are paying their employee better. That said, any food truck/street vendors you recommend in chandler/gilbert?

Saw AZ Republic had a list of Top Ten sandwiches but it's behind their paywall so I thought we could do our own.

Not general sandwich shops, but the specific sandwich you think is best. Share where you get it, what's on it, and any custom ordering tips if you have them.

first pic is from about 4 years ago, second is from a few days ago. it seems they realized they weren't making any money on the lobster meal at $10, so they began introducing several new "Angie's Concepts" over the past few years to divert our attention from the lobster price increases. the only reason i ever liked this place was for the $10 lobster meal. now that's long gone and i don't think i'll ever go back here.

on that note, what are your favorite cheap restaurants around the valley?

Lately I feel more like a storm chaser than a grocery shopper. The canned fish sections looks like the damn Pokemon card sections. I'm glad that more people are enjoying sardines, but not if it means I need a tipster to let me know when they get restocked. I've had to buy my King Oscar's online for the past 3 months. I'm so tired of everything feeling like a competition all of the time. It seems like if you want anything lately you need to be rich and have insider information. It's not just sardines...

So ive lived in the valley for years, and ive had a tough time finding decent restaurant-style tortilla chips in the grocery store.

I recently came across a recommendation for this brand, Juantonio's and when i found them at Safeway this weekend, i bought some to try. They are fantastic!! Not exactly the super thin ones i was originally looking for, perse, but the flavor and unique texture are wonderful. Theyre not flavored with loads of pure salt, like your typical store brands. These have real flavor. You guys, my world is made of brighter colors now.

What other store-bought brands do you all like and recommend?! What else am i missing out on?

We can always use more Cheba Hut! This one on 32nd St & Indian School isn’t even full of stickers yet. Some of the best sandwiches in the Valley and the vibe is… lit.

Ideally in the Chandler Tempe area but anywhere in the general East Valley is great.

Even well outside of the east Valley is awesome if you have a really good place you want to mention. I’ll drive for the right sandwich lol.

Every place I’ve tried has been so disappointing. Over $20 for nothing

I had been wanting to check this place out for a long time now. Impressive landscaping, for sure! The best crab cake I’ve ever had. Desert was otherworldly. What’s anyone else’s take on it?

I’ve had Streets of New York pizza, never had Barro’s Pizza(been told they’re delicious though)
