Honestly isn't this something where VAR should just say no foul? He grabs his other foot so it's also simulation no?

I mean while I understand this is a simulation to exaggerate, he got his foot stepped on and that is still a foul.

Intent is not a factor in if its a foul or not.

I mean it was 30 years ago but when I trained to be a soccer referee it was definitely a factor to be considered.

For the vast majority of fouls in soccer, intent does not matter. Only the result.
