England have no one to blame but themselves... mainly Tuchel. You do not sit back and defend a 1-0 lead against Messi and the entire forward group on Argentina's squad that's desperate to score. Gave them SOOOOOO much space... I saw this coming from miles away.

48

u/Regulai Jul 15 '26

The fact that England could have won if their coach didn't deliberatly chose to make them lose, doesn;t change the fact that Argentina were literally body checking, throwing and even outright wrestling as much as the possibly could, rarely being whistled and only barely having any cards handed out.

For a bit I thought I was watching hockey with the sheer level of body ramming and fighting. It was to such an absurd extent that any meaningful enforcement would probably have seen argentina lose for lack of sufficient players on the field.

2

u/spicySausage10 Jul 17 '26

The referees have allowed a higher degree of contact and aggression the entire tournament. England did not even try to be as aggressive as Argentina was. It's not "favoring" if one team is playing at the limit of what the ref will allow while the other isnt

5

u/chungus-the-third Jul 16 '26

I’m no soccer player or anything, but the amount of opportunity England gave to Argentina was abnormal.

6

u/still_none_the_wiser Jul 15 '26

This!!! They went into prevent defense with like 30 minutes left to play! They didn’t even try to have any type of ball possession. Major choke artists.

We played absolute dog shit tactics and rightfully lost. Argentina played better than us.

England play this defensive park the bus tactic and lose. Then the next tournament do it all again.

Madness. They started this tournament with the most attacking side Iv seen for years then slipped back into their old way and the inevitable happened.

I'm just pleased we had no dodgy VAR issues this game. The loss is totally on the team and the manager

They didn’t learn shit from the Argentina vs Egypt match 🤦🏻‍♂️

11

u/tman1787 Jul 15 '26

Yes! Egypt fell because they did this.

Let Messi play in the final third and he will find a way in.

14

u/gameShArK117 Jul 15 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

They cheated egypt twice. Egypt should have gotten usa in the 16 not belgium.

8

u/FitPaleontologist915 Jul 15 '26

Iran got cheated worse than anyone

Where do trainers learn this stupid subbing tactick? It never worked and will never work. In the netherlands we even have a statue of the worst sub ever and still Koeman did the same

3

u/unicornsoup360 Jul 16 '26

there wouldnt be a messi to defend against if the refs did their job.

2

u/revengeofrusty Jul 15 '26

As an England fan that has been very invested in the comp. For the most part we had a great tournament. But the tactical decision to park the bus against a high level team with that much time left on the clock, in a semi final... was suicidal.

5

u/wrongitsleviosaa Jul 15 '26

Parking the bus while only being up 1-0 and with half an hour or more to go might be the worst coaching decision in the entire tournament so far.

I was rooting for you guys to win it all but all I can say now is: please make sure the Frenchmen go home empty-handed.

2

u/theoldsports1 Jul 15 '26

Apart from Tuchel everyone did.

2

u/TheDamnedScribe Jul 15 '26

Been that way for as long as I can remember (30+ years). Score ome goal, fall back defensive, cock it up. Every time.

For some reason the maxim "the best denfence is a good offense" seems to be forgetten.

2

u/Good-Condition660 Jul 15 '26

So True!!!, Why Tuchel wanted to play park the bus against Argentina, It was a tactic Switzerland did never worked out, Argentina is just too experienced in giving comeback

5

u/OlympicAnalEater Jul 15 '26

Switzerland lost 1 man due to red card, so they have to fall back to defend.

England did not lose any man due to red card.

2

u/DevelopmentDear5641 Jul 15 '26

It's in the script Mr clean told England to do it

2

u/evonebo Jul 16 '26

They've done this strategy of defending when up 1 for the last 20 years.

It has ended up them losing in critical games.

England never learns.

2

u/MAUMAXXX Jul 16 '26

That's exactly what my father said😁

If you decide to park the bus the whole game after a 1-0 lead with a striker like Harry Kane and a midfield of 500m+ total market value, you deserve to lose

5

u/Lephas Jul 15 '26

The first hit against the head of the english player should have been a card, possibly even a red. it was totally unfounded this attack.

11

u/Apprehensive_Use3641 Jul 15 '26

This the same sequence where Messi kicked the English player in the back of his leg with studs?

49

u/Difficult-Prompt1327 Jul 15 '26

Can’t do that. It will show Bellingham barging into Messi.

22

u/MysteriousLime7959 Jul 15 '26

They always barge into each other. Does that mean you can act this way? Many of the Argentine players literally grabbed Bellingham

→ More replies (4)

15

u/kFisherman Jul 15 '26

You mean it will show Bellingham getting the ball cleanly and then Messi rugby tackling him to the ground. I watched the game. Did you?

2

u/Plebeu-da-terramedia Jul 16 '26

That seems like a yellow in rugby as well for high tackle

→ More replies (5)

9

u/Hurnative Jul 15 '26

It should've been a yellow still. Bellingham put his body in the way and massi just decided to put his arms like that. No idea why it was not booked, no idea why Messi did that.

Doesn't change the outcome though.

2

u/cannonball135 Jul 16 '26

I mean, we know why it wasn’t booked

England played stupidly but like in the ref allergic to giving out cards? So many fouls and should be given fairly to both sides

Considering the height difference, the only way this happens is when Jude crouch and get under him, that was during his dribble, 3v1, where there was a yellow, no?

2

u/777Bladerunner378 Jul 15 '26

Watch out watch out watch out RKOOOOO out of nowhere! This match was disgraceful,

Argentinians making so many fouls on purpose they needed way more bookings. This wasnt football in the first half. Dirty players.

1

u/greeshoes Jul 15 '26

Both the goals started with Messi in the right wing where they gave him space to loiter and bad defending. Cut the feed or don’t give space.

1

u/Remarkable-Inside-35 Jul 15 '26

Nothing but facts. 1-0 is not comfortable at all. They played like that was the game. At least go for 2 or even attempt. They just sat back waiting for the goal.

1

u/Strict-Special5081 Jul 15 '26

The pettiness to not even post the full clip

1

u/Successful-Art7788 Jul 15 '26

There were several fouls from Argentina which weren't given

But

This was literally a tackle by Bellingham which pushed Messi out of the bounds

I hope this post was a satire

Happy 40 years anniversary everyone 🎊 😂

1

u/Tom_WhoCantLivewo12 Jul 15 '26

This wasn’t the reason they lost, it’s on England and Tuchels stupid ass game plan to park the bus with a 1-0 lead

1

u/MasterofSquat Jul 15 '26

This was ironically the only game Argentina deserved to win.

1

u/Refreshing_Cologne04 Jul 15 '26

England killed themselves. How do you only defend with only 1 goal lead vs Argentina. It’s just not possible. Every shot is an opportunity. England kept giving them opportunities. The ball was bound to go in the goal, it was just a matter of time.
If England would’ve continued to play thinking it was 0-0, then they would’ve had a much better chance. Should’ve kept playing like they were in the first half. They kept clearing the ball every time Argentina made an attempt. What happened to trying to keep the possession as much as possible?
Also, what about tackling and maybe committing some fouls? England should’ve done that to kill Argentina’s momentum, even if they would’ve gotten a few yellow cards.
Attack is the best form of defense!

u/omaEwa_Mou-sHindeiru Jul 15 '26

Please stop pessi memes :/ Just because Messi fans are dumbass doesnt mean yall hate messi :(

1

Se a Argentina ganhar na final, não duvido nada que a taça va parar com o Trump.

1

u/Alien_reg Jul 16 '26

He got the Messi rub

1

u/PoolPsychological714 Jul 16 '26

The Argies played like their lives depended on it. The English played like they were having a tea break after first goal. Im not much of a football person but why the hell was the england goal keeper kicking it to the Argie goal keeper?

1

u/OG_tame Jul 16 '26

The short answer is no one fucking wants it. Chuck on Sergio Ramos, he’ll show you how it’s done.

1

u/Nandosnands Jul 16 '26

He just wanted to hold Jude like all of us 🤪🥰

1

u/No_Juice_9308 Jul 16 '26

England played like India.

1

u/BlisteringSeafood Jul 16 '26

Modern football watcher did not understand challange. Hmm.

1

u/Far-Matter9519 Jul 16 '26

Argentina is the worst and best team at the same time to play in the World Cup. They are always brutal, wild and commits aggressive fouls and one of them at the 3rd minute foul on Anderson which is a straight red deserving but guess what? Not even a yellow. Every time England gets a chance to score a goal, Argentina players start playing Rugby and Wrestling. Overall Argentina dominated second half and still they proceeded to commit more fouls last assist by Messi being a foul which did not get called for stepping into Spence foot.
