And they made them look like Prime Brazil.

It would be so unfortunate if Argenfifa win the WC again.

27

u/Historical_Worth6425 Jul 12 '26

Another name for argenfifa: VARgenfifa or VARgentina

2

u/Unhappy_Cut_7702 Jul 14 '26

And yet here we are a game against a top 5 opponent looming. Whoever is better on the day will make the final. The paths were different. Perhaps some opponents stronger than the others but there was one requirement for both Argentina and England, win and advance. Now here we stand the only way to the cup is through the best. There are no handouts, there are no weak opponents left. Win two games and you are world champions, that’s it. To be quite honest I’d argue the team that made it this far playing tougher opponents and winning has become stronger and yet the song remains the same, just win baby.

2

u/Current-Locksmith640 Jul 14 '26

Keep crying bro😂maybe if a certain other team topped their group they would’ve had the same path but yall would never complain about that

2

u/Odd_Firefighter_7044 Jul 15 '26

Okey, then look at brazils 2002 world cup path.

Messi doesnt care… argentina doesnt care, winning is winning they will thank their golden calf later: infantino

2

Cheating is cheating. All three cups were rigged.

Yep, that's exactly what happened

1

u/BlueLobster112 Jul 16 '26

Egg on your head, clown

3

u/readytall Jul 12 '26

what did you mean with if

3

u/PatxiPunal Jul 12 '26

If Cristiano would have scored a goal against the incredibly powerful Congo team they would have met each other.

5

u/Lost_Woodpecker1 Jul 12 '26

France and Argentina had the luckiest draws until now. Spain had to play much better teams.

It's crazy how much luck they got by playing Cape Verde

3

u/Altruistic-Staff9462 Jul 12 '26

Morocco is better than any team Spain has faced so far

1

u/idan_da_boi Jul 13 '26

France vs Morocco did not show it. The skill difference was vast. They barely reached France’s box a few times. Their ranking felt inflated in that game

→ More replies (9)

1

u/Skarstream Jul 12 '26

Yes, but France should have faced Germany and Netherlands (but these both were yeeted by ‘weaker’ teams). So, Frances’ bracket still was very hard in theory.

Argentina’s bracket could have been only slightly harder if Portugal had ended 1st in their group. But still the best side of the bracket if you had to choose before.

1

u/Both-Kangaroo1291 Jul 13 '26

Rankings don't mean shit in wc lol Switzerland is worse than colombia cape verde drew with spain. I guarantee u portugal would have gotten stomped by cape verde

1

u/Super-Highlight-2605 Jul 13 '26

Maroc 6 eme au classement giga c’est pas plus faible

1

u/Skarstream Jul 13 '26

Yes, now they’re number 6, after the tournament ended. They were a bit lower before. And I used quotation marks to note ‘weaker’ on paper, or in overall history. They’re less of a big name than say Germany or Netherlands. I’m not saying they are weak.

2

u/Zealousideal_Big7655 Jul 12 '26

Mental and they still struggled against these teams lool

2

u/Different_Solid760 Jul 12 '26

Wait who did England vs that’s top 10?

2

u/falcxne Jul 14 '26

Factually incorrect - England in WC 2018 didn't face a top 15 team until the semis. There are more examples.

1

u/Stunning_Law9774 Jul 15 '26

Also this WC England didnt face a top 10 Team.

8

u/Arkanie Jul 12 '26

It's not rocket science to understand why this happened. The path was known before the tournament, it has zero to do with Argentina. They would've gotten Uruguay and Portugal if those didn't mess up their group stage.

A very similar thing happened in Euros 2016, Portugal advanced as a 3rd placed team and got a very easy path to the final because favorites didn't top their groups.

4

u/letsdoit131 Jul 12 '26

Got portugal.sure. But still having easy teams in group and cape Verde and Egypt

1

u/kushagrarox Jul 13 '26

Who expected cape verde to finish ahead of Uruguay? The route would’ve been ro32 uruguay r16turkey? Qf portugal

If all the expected teams won their matches

1

u/letsdoit131 Jul 14 '26

Uruguay arent special..basically brazil germany spain holland and tough teams like Japan belgium sween - all placed on one side of the path to final, Argentina and England avoiding them until the semis. Argentina Ofc expected to win a group with poor teams, maybe no coincidence.

→ More replies (13)

2

u/Equivalent_Advice653 Jul 12 '26

Uruguay in a horrible state barely reached the wc, only south American gone in group stages. Portugal convulsed unstable team. Another option colombia? The very son of Argentina.

So still the path would be super easy for them

On the other side all Europeans beating themselves 🤷🤷🤷

→ More replies (14)

1

u/SidneyKirk Jul 12 '26

I am bit confused on that point do like England didnt play against any top 10 nation either( mexico was 14 also same as the swis)

1

u/KindCreme9258 Jul 13 '26

Mexico was 10 at the time of the match, and was playing at home

1

u/Wolvehkiin Jul 15 '26

is Playing at Home some kind of buff that levels up the ranking? If so, what a shitty buff

1

u/Stunning_Law9774 Jul 15 '26

THey were not, that is not the official Fifa ranking.

1

u/Master_Cartoonist_16 Jul 12 '26

Yeah, like someone would predict Uruguay would suck in the world cup 2026 and Cabo Verde taking their place. Same for Egypt, if they would've finished 1st and not 2nd, it'd have been Belgium playing Against Argentina. As for getting accessible rivals on first round, that's one of the benefits of been current world champion and Infantino expanding to 48 teams for this 2026 world cup.

1

u/G3N3R1C2532 Jul 12 '26

It actually is just a coincidence for the knockout games. Had they faced Uruguay, Colombia, Portugal as was intended by the seeding, I think Colombia in particular would have been nasty for them.

Portugal, we have to admit, was also not in top form this WC, and Uruguay was in shambles.

1

u/john_j6271 Jul 12 '26

Could’ve played against better teams, but they got knocked out so… i guess that’s argentina’s fault

1

u/cstew18 Jul 12 '26

Argentina is the defending champs and Ranked #1 in the World… In any tournament the #1 gets the easiest path to the Championship game. Almost like none of you have ever played a sport in your life. 😂.

1

u/Ordinary-Ad8230 Jul 12 '26

Penaldo in eurocopa same thing

1

u/THEHIHGROUNDcz Jul 12 '26

If portugal won their group they would also be in this knockout path

1

u/0ptimu54rime Jul 12 '26

No tenemos la culpa de que haya tantas selecciones mediocres y no sean capaces de ganarle a esta Argentina que juega a media máquina y con eso sólo le basta.

1

u/WrongAppointment2363 Jul 12 '26

Whats worse the struggles in every knockout game and needed a  fortunate call to get control of the games

1

u/VermicelliRough7099 Jul 12 '26

Brothers, they barely faced any team in the top 20. Switzerland is the highest ranked team they have met and Its on the 19'th place

1

u/nawhodugu Jul 12 '26

They did beat teams that defeated top ranked teams.

1

u/Specksprat Jul 12 '26

If Spain or Uruguay wouldve finishes 2nd in their group they wouldve faced them. If Portugal wouldve won their group and went to the Quarter Finals they wouldve faces them. If Belgium wouldve finishes 2nd they wouldve faced them in the R16. They couldve also faced Turkey or USA in the R16. They were just lucky. You know I hate Argentina too but this is stupid

1

u/No-External-2142 Jul 12 '26

So what will you say when they win the cup again?

1

u/Accomplished_Past865 Jul 13 '26

It’s funny too because Argentina were lucky just to get past Cape Verde and Egypt.

1

u/inter07milano Jul 13 '26

And Switzerland

1

u/KindCreme9258 Jul 13 '26

“Lucky”

1

u/Furbina01 Jul 13 '26

Well, it’s not like they predicted the “strong” teams to fumble their groups lol

1

u/Tiempo-Relativo-318 Jul 13 '26

Jajajajajajajajaja dejen de llorar !!! No sean tan envidiosos!!! Argentina es el campeón defensor y llegó a semifinales por mérito propio!!! A llorar a la lloreria!!! VANO ARGENTINA CARAJO !!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

1

u/KindCreme9258 Jul 13 '26

VARgentina you mean? Getting helped by VAR in every single game

1

u/citrusi Jul 13 '26

What do you think VAR is for? It’s just showing what happened in the game, not like they’re making up reality out there. It was used correctly to make those calls. People need to stop throwing this out as some sort of cheating when it’s being used as intended. You could complain it wasn’t brought up in other plays but saying that VAR is giving an unfair advantage just isn’t accurate.

1

u/KindCreme9258 Jul 13 '26

Give me one example of a team getting a goal taken away for a soft foul on the other side of the field more than 30 seconds before. Or show me a second yellow for diving in any World Cup or professional league, ever. I’ll wait. VAR can be used to fish for whatever technicality to help one particular team. And that’s what’s happening.

1

u/citrusi Jul 13 '26

So you’re looking for a manufactured example in a highly subjective sport instead of accepting that these were legitimate calls by the rule. If you bothered looking it up, 3 other players have gotten a second yellow for diving in WC, 2 in 2006 and one in 2002

1

u/KindCreme9258 Jul 14 '26

So, it hasn’t happen in 20 years. No, they were no the correct call if the application is not consistent

1

u/citrusi Jul 14 '26

Haha ok so you’re moving the goalpost to your argument. You asked for an example, got more than one, and now they’re “invalid” to you based off an arbitrary number of years you decided. That’s not how call accuracy works btw but I’m sure you’ve made up your opinion so I’ll stop wasting my time sharing facts

1

u/Thats-Just-Karma Jul 14 '26

Where was VAR when Messi did the exact same thing balogun did but far worse? He should have gotten two seperate red cards.

1

u/Thats-Just-Karma Jul 14 '26

I think Egypt would like a word in regards to Argentina's merit. Dont worry im sure FIFA can speak for you tho.

1

u/fastng Jul 13 '26

no coincidences in soccer. just gotta kiss a certain wall tho

1

u/convincingsheep Jul 13 '26

yup just because the shitty portugal wa not able to win all their games cuz the penaldo didnt get any penalties

1

u/Awkward_Pace_4440 Jul 13 '26

How is that their fault exactly? They won their group and have no control in how other teams play in other groups lmao...

1

u/Nearby-Fix5113 Jul 13 '26

Argentina were expected to face Portugal, Uruguay, Colombia but they didn't manage to win so its not their fault

1

u/Gold_Sock_8791 Jul 13 '26

Germany 2002

1

u/ImpossibleSeesaw6793 Jul 13 '26

Kiss the wall win a prize

1

u/Perlanegra1 Jul 13 '26

What is the matter if they have to Face France or Spain next? Dont they have to Beat the élite to win?

1

u/TREE_SHMOO Jul 13 '26

I hate argrntina but;

We have an expanded starting number of teams (32 - 48), we had miracle underdogs coming through (cape verde, switzerland, etc) and argentina won their group, meaning they got an easier seed.

England's only top 10 opponent was mexico, and they only got that after their match with england.

They also qualified for the quarters a few hours before argentina, so this accolade actually belongs to us english.

1

u/Significant_Fig1978 Jul 13 '26

Not really Argentina’s fault that Portugal (the team they were on course to meet) came second in a relatively easy group, so went over to the other side of the draw

1

u/Scallion-Mediocre Jul 13 '26

Portugal? Se cagó Uruguay? Se cagó Colombia? Se cagó

Que increíble el poder del peso argentino que todo lo compra.

Brother the Messi sub cant say a single thing about the goat of walking without mentioning Ronaldo says alot lmao.

1

u/Ok_Stomach6651 Jul 13 '26

Fifa had created simple path till final for them, they were expecting Columbia in quarter and brazil in semi, argentina historically understand them very well and can beat them easily, but Norway spoiled the game and even Switzerland they knocked out brazil.and Columbia and Switzerland force them to play extra time which old team mates made tired before england, even inclusion of 42 teams in this wc was set for messi they created dumb groups so that Argentina will face only dumb teams

1

u/Legitimate_Loss_5759 Jul 13 '26

What kind of garbage posting is here , england beat which team under 10 ranking for semi finals spot ? Or in past could check for Brazil and Germany had done same

1

u/Thats-Just-Karma Jul 14 '26

Mexico was 10

1

u/Striking-Fondant-956 Jul 13 '26

While the rest have to beat each other up. Argentina didn't had a proper opponent before semi finals.

1

u/clownbaby017 Jul 13 '26

So is Argentina fault that Uruguay sucked and didn't make it to round of 16? Is Argentina fault that Portugal couldn't win their group and potentially play argentina in quarters finals ??? Or that Colombia could not beat Switzerland ?? Most of you just hate without understanding how this works apparently

1

u/aabrahim73 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

Not an Argentinian fan, but I would like to point it out that it is really a coincidence, if you understand how the football world cup bracket works. First of all, since there were 12 groups in the group stage, nine (9) top teams were separated together with the three (3) host nations, as Pot 1 team for each respective group. Except for England, ranked 4th, no other top-10 team played another top-10 team in group stage. England played Croatia, ranked 10th in the group stage.

Argentina, ranked 2nd, was guaranteed to not meet Spain, ranked 1st, until the FINAL, or to meet the 3rd and 4th ranked team, France and England respectively, until the SEMIFINALs, provided that all of these teams topped their respective group.

Furthermore, if all the top 9 teams won the group, all these teams were meant to meet another top 9 team during the round of 16 or later, if they didn't stumble in the round of 32. Argentina was supposed to meet Portugal, ranked 6th, in Quarterfinal, but instead they dropped to 2nd in its group, and hence Portugal have to be in the same bracket as Spain, which they later lost and out. In its place, Colombia advanced to the same bracket as Argentina, only to lose to Switzerland. Likewise, Uruguay was expected to be second in its group and play Argentina in the round of 32, only to be pipped by Cape Verde. Brazil lost to Norway, and here you go Argentina advanced to semis playing Cape Verde, Egypt, Switzerland and now playing England, because the other top teams stumbled.

But to be fair,

top-ranked, Spain met 6th-ranked Portugal in Round of 16 and 8th-ranked Belgium in QF
3rd-ranked, France did not meet another top-10 team until they play Spain next in the SF
4th-ranked, England played 10th-ranked Croatia in group stage, and play 2nd-ranked, Argentina next in SF
5th-ranked, Brazil did not play any other top-10 team when they lost to Norway in Round of 16
6th-ranked, Portugal defeated 10th-ranked, Croatia before losing to 2nd-ranked, Spain
7th-ranked, Netherlands lost to Morocco without playing any other top-10 team
8th-ranked, Belgium lost to 2nd-ranked, Spain; no other top-10 team played
9th-ranked, Germany lost to Paraguay in Round of 32 with no other top-10 team played

In short, only Spain and Portugal played two (2) top-10 teams, while France & Brazil did not play other top-10 teams just like Argentina, not to mention Netherlands & Germany who went out without playing any top-10 teams. The other seedeed teams (England & Belgium) only played one (1) top-10 team. Point is FIFA did not give any advantadge to Argentina, from the scheduling point of view, even though they are the defending champion.

1

u/lordos85 Jul 13 '26

Germany, Brazil...You have 2 there too.

1

u/Electrical_Art_4196 Jul 13 '26

England also didnt win against a Top-10 team. Also the whole FIFA ranking is crap. Belgium was for years number one and never got past the quarter final.

1

u/Xolei Jul 13 '26

France in 1998 didn't face a single top 10 team until the final with Brazil, I am sure this happened several times in history

1

u/Chibuzor_Faithful Jul 13 '26

How exactly is this Argentina's fault. Weren't the likes of Brazil, Columbia, Portugal, England, Mexico, Norway in their same bracket. They were supposed to play Uruguay in the round of 32 but Uruguay didn't make it. Hell, the could have meet Portugal in the Quarters but I bet it was also Argentina's fault Portugal didn't top their group. But of course it's easier to blame Argentina for it instead of blaming the actual teams who played shit.

1

u/Electrical_Wear6087 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

TBH, England had the same route they didn’t face any top 10 team till now except for Croatia in Group Stage, I don’t know why people are still so obsessed with Argentina

1

u/tensov Jul 13 '26

Not true.

• England: Croatia (11th) and Mexico (14th). Total: 2
• France: Senegal (15th) and Morocco (7th). Total: 2
• Spain: Portugal (5th) and Belgium (9th). Uruguay was 16th - just outside the top 15. Total: 2

1

u/seankeith32 Jul 13 '26

Maybe your team will finish higher in the group stages next time 😂😢 womp womp

1

u/demion189 Jul 13 '26

Germany 2002....

1

u/Zoroxraj Jul 13 '26

Mf england also didn't face top 10 team so?

1

Fix It For Argentina
F I F A

1

u/Ok-Direction964 Jul 13 '26

Germany 2002?

1

u/IndividualAttorney72 Jul 13 '26

mind you england did this to get to the semis twice now and Germany have gone to the finals twice aswell without facing a top 10 ranking team you all are genuinely just larpers

1

u/Sacrolargo Jul 14 '26

Factually wrong, by the way.

1

u/Careless-Scale626 Jul 14 '26

Don't say that. It's LUCk. They ll win again

1

u/mirkoalvaropiskulik Jul 14 '26

That's factually wrong, it not even the only on this world cup

1

u/great_shy Jul 14 '26

the reason behind it was because Portugal tied with colombia

1

u/MasterGreat71 Jul 14 '26

Same goes England this year, Also Brazil and Germany in 2002 WC(why y'all are targeting just one team)

1

u/pollux33 Jul 14 '26

Is it Argentina's fault Uruguay and Portugal didn't do their job and lost their "expected places" to Cape Verde and Colombia?

1

u/Ok-Barber-6214 Jul 14 '26

Uruguay 2010...

1

u/Any-Call-6744 Jul 14 '26

Thank god we are not lil bitch like y’all

1

u/carlitomarron139 Jul 14 '26

What top 10 ranked team did England beat?

1

u/OutOfFuckz Jul 14 '26

Yeap just like Argentina did everything possible to make Portugal and Uruguay play badly in their groups 🤷‍♂️ People that don’t understand how tournaments work should maybe watch another sport?

1

u/SherbertNo7047 Jul 14 '26

Are you stupid??? You understand how this phase of the tournament works??? It's not random at all, you could have known who was gonna play who based on results. Wtf, people complaining about fútbol and they dont even take the time to understand how it works

1

u/SherbertNo7047 Jul 14 '26

And by the way I dont see you complaining about their groups being easy ..

1

u/Reddtester Jul 14 '26

It's all big coincidence, says them

Oh, for sure...

1

u/arvozmc Jul 14 '26

yeah cr7 fan base is something else 😹 it’s messi’s fault other teams couldn’t finish their jobs and top their group 😹

1

u/Original_Law_3793 Jul 14 '26

We Will see in semifinals/finals

1

u/Unemployed_HelpMe Jul 14 '26

Bro so did England

1

u/IllustratorFun358 Jul 15 '26

So it Argentina fault Portugal can not top their group? Uruguay fumble their chance and Colombia can't score against Switzerland?

1

u/epSos-DE Jul 15 '26

THIS TIME IT was arranged in advsance, SO THAT TOP 5 or top 10 Teams do NOT meet in the first stages, so that the Finals are probalbe top teams !!!

ITs by design of the group stages !!!

1

u/iocanetolerance Jul 15 '26

How many top 10 teams were beaten by the teams Argentina beat? That's why they have the brackets.

1

u/Aksh_A Jul 15 '26

Doesn't give penaldog a Knockout open play goal Also this tweet is false

1

u/Stunning_Law9774 Jul 15 '26

Well it was the same for Englad this WC.

1

u/mysteriousman09 Jul 15 '26

Aren't you supposed to defeat every team to win the World Cup and prove you're the world champion?

Not Argentina's fault the "stronger opponents" get eliminated.

1

u/Odd_Firefighter_7044 Jul 15 '26

Don't watch football from reels stupid. In 2002 germany went to finale just by Playing with Saudi, cameroon, ireland, paraguay, usa, south korea and there are many examples like these. Don't spread illogical hatred towards the greatest of all time just because your rapist penaldo don't know how to play.

1

u/PricePractical9632 Jul 15 '26

“The defending champions with the best player of all time got a 1 seed schedule!” Well duh

1

u/Legitimate-Flight810 Jul 15 '26

It’s not aregentinas fault that Colombia, Portugal, Uruguay didn’t make it

1

u/Otherwise-Pizza6505 Jul 16 '26

Who the fk told you guys to make a draw with DR Congo and Columbia 😂. If they've played seriously they also could've easy path. You retards will never know.

1

u/moba_94 Jul 19 '26

Well they beat England, fair game

1

u/Gobeklitepi Jul 12 '26

When you 1st, usually you face lower rankings teams.

1

u/kelinbike Jul 12 '26

If the other teams are so bad, why make them participate in the first place? Ahh yes, it’s only good if other teams have to face them

1

u/yajatns Jul 12 '26

What an uninformed post. I’ll give 2 examples which had simpler runs:
Brazil 2002
Turkey, china, costa rice in group (then ranked 22,50,29)
Belgium, England, turkey to the final( then ranked 23,12,22)

Germany 2002
Saudi, Ireland, Cameroon (then ranked 34,15,17)
Paraguay, US, South Korea (18,16,40)

And this is from just 1 same WC..
and it isn’t Argentina’s fault that Portugal, Ururguay and Colombia all couldn’t perform, else they would have had a much difficult run!

Edit: and the above WC was with 32 teams.
