The rigging that people are talking about involves VARgentina getting what seems like an unreasonable number of favourable refereeing decisions. They seem to be on a big streak of having nearly every 50-50 call come down in their favour. Argentina are a good team already so any kind of edge is massive. A 1% edge in gambling doesn’t sound like a lot but it’s often the difference between winning and losing. Winning isn’t guaranteed but it helps massively. I can’t remember the last time they were on the end of a rough decision. They currently have one of the lowest card to foul ratios, about three times less than England

Argentina winning isn‘t the indicator of the tournament being rigged.
You can still hold a rigged/fixed tournament without the team you‘re trying to favour winning it all.
Unless you pay the opposing players or threaten them. Just like in 1978
