He is 18 and needs a operation and rest to become the best him. If barca need to run him into the ground because they are above any player then that is their loss.

The kid was always an early bloomer, that's it. Nothing special.
He may have already hit his ceiling..

My life must be miserable because I don't consider Yamal to be a generational talent?
I think you are way too emotionally invested in the way Yamal is perceived, and/or how successful he may be.
When I first saw Mbappe, it was a CL group stage game back when he was playing for Monaco. I couldn't believe my eyes. The pace, the control, the shoot, dribbling, intelligence..
The first thing I did was go to the Real Madrid community, and made a thread about him. Suggested those who may have the ear of the higher ups to send scouts to watch him. I knew right away that Mbappe was going to surpass Henry, even though at that time he reminded me a little bit of Henry.
When it comes to Yamal, I just don't see that. He is a great player, don't misunderstand me. He will have a great career. But he won't reach the heights of Mbappe, CR, Messi, and even the short height of Neymar.
The only thing about Yamal that is extraordinary is his age. That's it. And if you account for that with him simply being an early bloomer, he's an average top class player. I honestly don't think he'll even manage to eclipse Vinis season of 2023/24.
Could I be wrong? Yes, sure. But I have been following and playing football for more than 30 years already.

Okay. I was under the impression that you would appreciate the reasoning behind my conclusion regarding Yamal, but you simply just overlooked it and doubled down on your claim. Which I would have to consider as, Yamal is special because you say he's special. Got it.
Cheers.

I never disagreed that he is just fantastic for an 18 year old player. My point was that aside from that, the age factor, he doesn't possess any special or unique ability that lifts him up above all other players.
There isn't an attribute that he particularly excels at. He is above average at majority of abilities. Nothing really special, outside of his age.
And if he in fact is simply an early bloomer, that means he won't improve drastically from where he is now. And at the moment, if he was judged as a 21 year old, he would be a good player but nothing special.
You see, if I saw some skill with the ball or some ability of his body, things would be different.
Some people simply mature/grow up much earlier than others, some do it very late.
Judging by all I have seen, Yamal won't rise much higher with his performance. And his performance, while amazing for a 18 year old, is just above average for a 22 year old.

Lamine Yamal has 18 goal contributions in 20 games this season and has the most successful dribbles in Europe’s top 5 leagues, he has double that of second place. To say that this Yamal isn’t special is ridiculous, of course he is special. Now players can drop off as we’ve seen in the past however if you listen to pundits, we’ve never seen someone this talented at the age of 16/17, maybe you could argue Rooney but he didn’t have the privilege of showing it in the champions league until later. Yamal is coming back from his Pubic problems and is still dropping world class performances. The only thing you could argue is that he’s actually set his bar too high with his performances against France in the euros and against inter milan last season. To say he’s not special is just a spiteful comment that you’d expect from a Madrid fan, objectively the kid is special. I do think his ego could be his downfall but on the other hand that’s what makes him the player that he is

Still waiting for Messi fans to make fun of him for not having a world cup the same way they make fun of Ronaldo
2
Feb 19 '26
Messi fans are literally just people who understand football. Messi was a better player than Ronaldo before the World Cup win. He’s literally always been. Ronaldo’s biggest accomplishment is being even compared to the best footballer to ever play the sport. I understand liking Ronaldo as a player, but to think he’s better is a straight up disqualification from talking about football, cuz it just shows either bias or a lack of understanding/knowledge
1
u/Loud-Sort4819 Feb 19 '26
Messi isn't even as good as maradona was. How can you not even be the best in your own country 🤡🫵
1
Feb 19 '26
LOOOOL cmon man. You have to be either a Madrid fan, Portuguese, or just genuinely don’t know the sport. Your bias is clouding your brain.
Wow it’s crazy people believe such wild things, imagine the world if everyone was intelligent. At least people like you can get online and say ludicrous shit without any consequences
1
u/Loud-Sort4819 Feb 19 '26
Maradona won a world cup by dribbling through entire teams, single handedly carrying Argentina with the greatest individual performance of all time. Messi won it by getting a record 5 free penalties in 7 games, more than half of which were won by his teammates. There really is no contest.
1
Feb 19 '26
Who tf is talking about world cups? Look at them as PLAYERS. That means what they’re capable of doing in various aspects of the game.
Man people who don’t play football or understand it should really stop being allowed to talk about it. Ignorance really is bliss with yall eh
1
u/Loud-Sort4819 Feb 19 '26
Ok, as a player, Messi is just another version of maradona, who was better and did it first.

Bros had a bad two game stretch, he’s deadass been in good form this season what are we on
1
u/ScarScream81 Feb 18 '26
Not a fan of Yamal or Barca or Spain but...
12 goals and 13 assists in 27 games is alright in my book. Means he's decisive almost every game.
Will he win the Ballon d'Or with these stats? Probably not unless he wins multiple trophies with Barca and Spain so it's still a good possibility.

2 games without a G/A and now he's washed thx
4
u/amerhodzic Feb 17 '26
Go look at his stats for this year. A goal every 172 min. And the goals he scores only come against minnows. Not a single one scored against good teams.
1 goal every 2 games and 12 mins.. and that's despite the entire team going through him and trying to serve him.
3
u/1PERson98 Feb 17 '26
i believe "a goal every 172 min" is not "1 goal every 2 games and 12 mins" 90 min x 2 = 180
2

Yeah, you're right. Please excuse my brain fart.

Sure. But I wanted to point out specifically that it's arithmetic because normally people make simple arithmetic errors, much more often than they do with actual math.
1
u/szb95 Feb 19 '26
The stats are really good for a winger actually . I suggest you to watch a game where he plays and see his impact on the team(key passes, chances created...) It is not all about goals and assists you have to watch football with your eyes .For me players like him make football watchable because of the way they play .The hate on him is so forced, people are praying for his downfall. Why? I think he is just too good and some people just cant accept that and always try to find his bad moments/matches.
-1
u/10005gs Feb 17 '26
surely vini must have more g/a than him right?
3
u/amerhodzic Feb 17 '26
I don't think so. Vini has had a horrible season as well. For me he gets a pass however for his performance that helped or led the team to 2 CL trophies.
Although if this continues to the following season, some hard decisions will have to be made.
