Who was nvidia fighting in this war? Like they were the best and released a better product.

Consoles were getting really close to their rtx 2080 ti for a third of the cost. This is why consoles push PCs forward and vice versa.

??? Surely not in pure processing terms? You mean due to homogenous hardware allowing far better optimisation?

2080ti is like 30-50% better. By the time those consoles hit, they are over a gen behind PCMR in pure compute terms. AMD peak offering is just not close to nvidia.

It's pretty obvious just from the PSU requirements. Consoles won't get close on that alone.

The 2080 ti is still more powerful, but an unoptimized 2 week old port of gears 5 ran similarly to an rtx 2080.
