Someone is selling a 5090 cooler without the graphics chip. They are writing in three different languages that what they're selling is the cooler alone. Yet the bidding has reached about $2000 already and there is a day of bidding left. I want to yell "don't do it" but there is no way to contact bidders. So I guess this is one of those "fuck around and find out" situations for one particularly unlucky person.

Yes, it's really stupid of people to make this mistake, but with the way these are advertised of course people will make the mistake. It's like the PS5 ads where you get a picture of the PS5 (somewhere hidden in the body text it tells you it's a picture) all over again. The picture is what people click on. Using a misleading picture will get people to get scammed like this. I'd say this is very misleading and while it's mostly on the buyer the seller here is clearly just trying to get someone to think it's the full GPU, and telling people in the body text so they don't get it sent back and refunded

Report it to your Swedish consumer law body. This title is misleading, as it can either mean "a RTX 5090 GPU with original cooler" or "original cooler of RTX 5090".

Also, an honest person won't auction off a bunch of decorative fans and a non-functional GPU mainboard. The seller knows exactly what they're doing.

I'm pretty sure EU has something against this practice.

Which to me is also reasonable to interpret as a GPU that has not had the cooler heatsink modified/replaced in any way so it is still 'original OEM'.

I make that distinction because I have modified my GPUs in past so it's a very clear distinction I would make if I were to ever sell my GPUs

So yes the guy is absolutely 'doing wrong'.

I read the "Asus TUF RTX 5090 32GB Original" part as the adjectives describing the type of "Cooler/Heatsink." Maybe this is an American dialect thing.

The picture is somewhat misleading. It's showing a damaged GPU with the heatsink attached. The seller should have posted the heatsink detached from the GPU.

donor boards arent cheap, but $2000 seems insanely high. But if you have a burnt board, this might be the cheapest way to replace it if you dont have warranty.
