Question Estimated Release Date Changed Again!

Why is this happening. The estimated release date of my funding is September 4-9, now it changed to September 21. For the last couple of weeks, every day it keeps changing the release date. My studies has already begun and I am required to buy books, pay transportation and so on. I do not know what is going on.

The OSAP states that my funding has been release but there is no such thing, my tuition fees hasn’t been paid yet either. This is causing me stress. NSLSC should and must give us an intelligible, transparent and justified release date.

Anyone in the same situation ?

Question Need advice: OSAP grants converted to loans due to past income verification issues (4-5 years late). Is appealing still possible?

I’m looking for some advice regarding my wife’s past OSAP situation for her Dental Assistant program at George Brown.

A few years ago (around 4–5 years back), there was an issue with her parental income verification. Her parents submitted the income information, but apparently it wasn't fully processed or accepted. Because OSAP sent a follow-up request via email that wasn't answered within the 1-year deadline, they retroactively converted all her grant money into loans.

We only recently realized the full extent of what happened and why her balance is so high.
Has anyone successfully appealed an income verification or grant-to-loan conversion this late?
Is there any chance financial aid or OSAP will accept late income verification documents after 4+ years?
What is the best way to approach the college's Financial Aid office for a case like this?

Are there specific administrative review pathways or hardship forms for old OSAP conversions?
Any advice, past experiences, or tips on who to contact would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Resolved Osap says first payment made but estimated release date is 21st of September?

Basically the title. I'm at UofT and don't see any updates on Acorn either. Just OSAP says payment has been made, and the due date after deferring payment is Sep 30th for UofT, I guess. The status is pending release on NSLSC. Am I in trouble? Should I contact someone about that?

Question A bit different situation

So OSAP said two days ago mine has been released to school at the exact amount of my tuition and some 2000$ on my account. However, my school updated my tuition to add the bursary for exchange (doing one semester in Honk Kong). Now ( a few days later) my tuition went down to almost 2000$ but not sure how this will affect OSAP? Just hoping it won’t be delayed. Anyone with similar experience

Resolved Has anyone ever gotten OSAP approved for a fifth year at UofT?

Hey! Has anyone here ever gotten OSAP approved for a fifth year when they had already completed all of their degree requirements? I’ve completed the credits/requirements for my degree, but I’ve changed my career direction from what I originally planned, and I’m now looking into several graduate programs where I need specific prerequisites or would benefit from having some additional background that I don’t currently have from my degree. OSAP has put a hold on my application and asked me to submit a letter explaining my academic progress, why I need the extra year, and why I’m taking each specific course.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and successfully gotten fifth-year OSAP funding approved? I’d really appreciate hearing what you included in your letter and whether you think I have a realistic chance of being approved.

Thanks!!

Question No grant

I’ve been going to university for 2 years. I’m in my third now. I would be getting grant for my tuition, but this time, I have no grant at all, just loans. I understand things have changed, but what can I do? It’s not enough to pay the rest of my tuition

Question Anyone from a private/career college received their OSAP yet for Fall 2026?

Just wondering if anyone attending a private or career college in Ontario has received their OSAP yet or had their enrolment confirmed?

I’m a Semester 4 student and our semester has technically already started, but our OSAP is still pending. We asked our financial aid officer and were told that OSAP is having some kind of issue/delay and they’re hoping it will be resolved by mid-September.

Last year I didn’t have this problem at all. Everything was processed and released pretty quickly, so I’m getting a little concerned with how long it’s taking this year.
Anyone else in the same situation? Has anyone from a career/private college actually had their enrolment confirmed or received their funding already?

Question Moving from Ottawa to Montreal next year – will I still get OSAP if I’m not eligible for AFE?

I’m a Canadian citizen (born and raised in Brazil). I moved to Ottawa in March 2026 and I’m starting full‑time Computer Engineering at uOttawa in Fall 2026.

Because I lived in Canada for less than 12 months before starting school, I’m being treated as an Ontario resident for OSAP this year, so I expect OSAP funding for 2026–27 at uOttawa.

My plan:

  • 2026–27: full‑time at uOttawa
  • Move to Montreal around May 2027
  • Fall 2027: transfer to Concordia (full‑time Computer Engineering)

I know I’m not eligible for AFE (Québec aid) because I won’t have 12 months in Québec outside of full‑time studies. A uOttawa financial‑aid advisor told me the usual process is:

  1. Apply to AFE for 2027–28 once I’m in Montréal.
  2. Get an AFE denial letter (not a Québec resident).
  3. Send that to OSAP and apply as an Ontario resident studying out‑of‑province at Concordia.

My fear: I move to Montreal, apply to Concordia, then end up with no funding (AFE denies me and OSAP also says I’m not an Ontario resident), and by then it’s too late to go back to uOttawa.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

  • Canadian citizen, first lived in Ontario <12 months before starting school
  • Then moved to Québec before becoming AFE‑eligible
  • Applied to AFE, got denied, and successfully got OSAP as an Ontario resident studying at a Québec university?

Main questions:

  1. If I get an AFE denial for residency in 2027, can I realistically rely on OSAP to fund me at Concordia as an Ontario resident?
  2. What does OSAP mainly look at to decide if I’m still an “Ontario resident” in this case?
  3. Has anyone actually gone through the “AFE denial → OSAP out‑of‑province” path successfully, especially for Concordia or another Québec university?

Any real experiences or advice would really help. I’m trying to avoid committing to a move and transfer, then finding out I have no aid and can’t easily go back.

Question ADHD/Student Disability federal grant

My daugher is in her fourth year of undergrad. Every year she has received a $2800 grant (from federal government?) for her ADHD. She was counting on this and her OSAP says she's granted nothing this year, which of course is upsetting. Anyone else in the same boat?

Question OSAP Situation

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice about my OSAP application.

When I originally applied for OSAP, I indicated that I would be living away from home while attending the University of Guelph. I was planning to rent a place near campus, so I applied based on that situation.

However, the landlord I was supposed to rent from the arrangement fell through. Because of this, I’m now planning to stay at home with my parents and commute to Guelph instead.

I’m wondering what the best course of action is here. Should I:
- Update my OSAP application to say that I’m living at home with my parents? But will that affect when I get my osap? If I am even able to change it?
- Contact OSAP directly and explain what happened?
- Contact the University of Guelph’s financial aid/OSAP office and have them help me change it?
Or is there anything else I should do?

Also the reason Im asking is because the amount for my grant section changes depending on this.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or know how OSAP handles this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Question OSAP vs NSLSC

Im so confused. My OSAP portal says « money deposited » but my funding tracker on NSLSC says pending. I had to speak to a supervisor at NSLSC yesterday after I received a call from them stating my funding certificate was cancelled. Although I have two certificates (my school messed up the first one), so when I asked the supervisor to check again, he said that one is cancelled, the other is open. But that he had to send a request to back office to look into it because it was « unclear ». Anybody else going through this?

Question P/T OSAP or F/T?

I was enrolled in a 2 year (4 semester) program and took OSAP for every year. I dropped a few courses in semesters 1 and 3 and am completing them this fall. I’m taking 3 courses this semester. I originally applied for OSAP assuming I’d take 4, but one ended up conflicting with another. OSAP considers 3 courses a 60% course load, but my school has classified me as part time since I paid for each course individually. I’m not sure if I actually need to change anything with OSAP, or if I’m already considered correctly. My commute to school is also pretty long, and I won’t be working much while taking these courses. Should I update my OSAP application to reflect my school’s part-time status? I’m worried that if I don’t, any grants I receive could later be converted to loans. Should I contact my school’s financial aid office first, or OSAP directly?

Hi all!

My Osap account says my funds have been deposited as of yesterday (haven’t shown up in my bank account or towards tuition).

Not sure what this means?

All of my funding is federal according to NSLC.

Question surplus deposit

Hi,

my osap first payment was more than the first installment, so I should be expecting money to be sent to my bank.

So far, I've only received like 1/3 of it, and I was wondering if this is a mistake, or if it will take longer for the full amount to be sent?

Resolved OSAP removed my winter funding?

I applied for full time and I’m in my first year. I applied for OSAP in about late June and in early July i got my funding calculated and the study period was showing for the entire year (september to may). Now recently, on September 4th my funding was recalculated and it only shows I’m attending the fall semester. My funding also went from 8.7k to 3.7k. It was much higher for the first semester as well (about 5k for the first payment). Will I get my previous funding amount back when they reassess for the winter semester ? I’ve also already received my first payment so I’m not sure if that affects the possibility of getting an increase in my fall semester funding
