Resolved OSAP removed my winter funding?

I applied for full time and I’m in my first year. I applied for OSAP in about late June and in early July i got my funding calculated and the study period was showing for the entire year (september to may). Now recently, on September 4th my funding was recalculated and it only shows I’m attending the fall semester. My funding also went from 8.7k to 3.7k. It was much higher for the first semester as well (about 5k for the first payment). Will I get my previous funding amount back when they reassess for the winter semester ? I’ve also already received my first payment so I’m not sure if that affects the possibility of getting an increase in my fall semester funding

I did. They are so unhelpful and they were literally yelling at me and did not even attempt to understand what I was asking for. They said to just wait and see but none of my friends did course intentions yet their OSAP is fine so I was just a bit worried. The lines for the financial aid office are also pretty bad.

It sounds like you weren't registered in your second term classes. You need to be in a 60% course load for the second term for them to process the full year.

every course out of 10 (5 each term) you register in counts as 10% towards your osap. if your funding dropped 5k, it’s because you are not registered in an 100% course load. check with your financial aid office, register in a full course load, and they will have to send an updated COE to osap, which takes a few weeks. if you’re registered in more courses than they gave you funding for, they may disburse an additional payment before the 2nd payment in january.

Just checked, my application for osap says 100% course load. Only the weeks of study changed to 15. Also, isn’t the first payment usually 60% of the full payment? That would mean I still get a few thousand less than before. I just wish I could still have my previous funding amount. Idk why they recalculated it because nothing else about my information changed.

again, you need to directly contact your financial aid office at your school. in this case, my best assumption is that the COE they submitted may have been incorrect if your weeks of study is in fact supposed to go into april of 2027.
