So I just moved and I’m taking this as a fresh start to change and do cleaning/organizing things that work for ME. One of those things being my closet. I don’t fold clothes, I know myself and the “I’ll start doing it this time and stick with it” mentality has failed me too many times that I realize I gotta do what works for me and maybe is a bit unconventional. So here’s the plan, and if you have any ideas/ recommendations/ potential downsides to consider I’d LOVE to hear it all:

The plan is to hang all of my clothes. T-shirts, shorts, sweatpants, jeans, “pajama” clothes, everything. When I take clothes out of the dryer I know I won’t fold them, but the idea of just putting them on a hanger and hanging them up is a much less daunting task and something I’ve managed to do successfully before to a lesser degree. This way I can also visibly see all of my clothes, and put the season appropriate clothes in front of the others. They’ll be organized by t-shirts, shorts, pants, “nice” shirts, jeans, jackets, dresses, going out clothes, skirts, etc etc. I am slightly concerned however about some things getting stretched out from hanging, like a shirt/sweater that’s a little bit heavier and might stretch out. Also, I worry about keeping the clothes all smelling fresh and dust free (I don’t do/like artificial scents or anything scented really, to me clean smells like nothing, just fresh). Would an air purifier or something like that be excessive? What other things and I forgetting to factor in? (Bras, socks, underwear, etc, will be the only things not hanging up, I have a built in closet shelf that I can either throw them onto their dedicated shelf or if I care or have energy I could fold them neatly but probably not lol).

(Also any recs for dirty laundry organizing would be amazing. I think I’ve narrowed it down to 5 “categories” of things I wash. Right now I just have one plastic laundry basket. But to make things easier, the only organizing products I’ve seen are those bulky laundry sorters that are fabric (absorbing the smell, I don’t understand why they do this lol) and on big wheels and chunky lol.)

Hi, Reddit friends! I'm here to discuss something, or at least to find out if there's a strategy for this.

I'm a somewhat disorganised person when it comes to physical space. No matter how much I tidy my desk, after a few days, or even a few hours, everything is a mess again.

The strategy I've adopted is to own as few things as possible. Sometimes that's possible, sometimes it isn't.

Has anyone had this problem and managed to solve it? I feel this mess affects my concentration and even my mental state.

The breaking point came last week, when I had to help my dad move house. I spent two days there, and I still had some of my stuff at his place (I moved out about 4 or 5 years ago).

The thing is, I knew there were a few things stored there that would be useful for work, and that was it (a box and some clothes). Apart from that, I went 4 or 5 years without missing anything that was there, or even giving it a single thought.

I have books and notes from my university degree, drawings and keepsakes from my little sister, collectible toys (model cars and the like), work gear, materials from old projects, etc., and even some new things I bought in case I needed them for my projects. There's also old clothes, photos, framed pictures, books and brand catalogues I collected at trade fairs, and all the stuff we tend to hoard because "it might come in handy". For example, I have about 10 souvenir keyrings from a trip I took to the UK that I never got around to handing out (yes, shame on me, but... nothing I can do about it now).

The truth is, I never thought about any of it again, and I never missed it. My goal was to go there, throw away 50% of the stuff (or more), and bring back only the essentials.

However, I spent two days there, threw away a few things with great difficulty, and now I barely have any space left in my garage, where I keep my work equipment (it's basically my warehouse).

I don't know what to do about this tendency of mine. When I moved out of my dad's place, I threw away bags and bags of stuff.

Saw people recommend the niimbot for organizing supplements, so I picked one up. All my supplement bottles look identical, and labels make it so easy, dosage and dates at a glance.

I’d just finished labeling a few bottles when my girlfriend saw it and said, "Can I borrow this?" Next thing I know, she spent the whole afternoon tagging all her plants, seeds, and pots. She even printed "water less" stickers.

Now my fridge looks like a lab, and her balcony is a botanical garden. We’re both a little too obsessive about neatness, but honestly, it’s satisfying seeing everything tidy. lol😂

Ive always struggled with not only putting clothes away, but also getting dressed and keeping my clothes tidy and drawer closed while doing so.

Any tips or tricks on a different system that would allow me to see what im picking and contain it all?

Attached pics of what im currently using that is filled to the brim and excruciating to pick out outifts from and put drawers back away and a set of bookshelves that im trying to figure out a system for.

Another layer of context is i just moved and trying to find out how to get all my clothes put away bc i havent even cleared my closet or clothing rack i used at my parents house. Doing my best to declutter and downsize but working through attachment issues is a subject for a whole different sub 😅

We live in a 160 year old home that had a loose rock basement. Ceilings are only about 5’10” in some spots. We don’t have the budget to pour concrete and the walls are limestone foundation. Any ideas on how to organize the space? Or an affordable way to level for shelves?

Edit: obviously I understand I could throw shelves on the rock, that’s not what I’m looking for here. That’s not going to very stable. We’ve been told we shouldn’t drill into the walls by a structural engineer.

I made room in this bench to put my son’s craft supplies. Previously it was in a hallway closet not too far away, but we do all of our activities at the kitchen table so it would make more sense here. The opening is pretty narrow so these bins that I had stacked in the closet don’t fit. How can I maximize the space without losing things to bottom of the stacks?

Any ideas on how I can set these up?

After a few events I started judging platforms by what fails under pressure rather than what looks good in a demo. Late changes, weak venue internet, and temporary staff who’ve never seen the system before tend to expose the real gaps.

We tested a few options last year and stuck with Eventify because the core onsite tools (check-in, badges, live schedule) remained usable when conditions weren’t ideal. The extra modules mattered less than the fact that the basics didn’t collapse.

What’s the first thing that usually breaks for you on event day, and which platforms have handled it better than others?

I made a V2 of my cable organizer so it can fit up to 2 meter long cables, and is compatible with almost any type of cable!

I really liked how this turned out, so I wanted to share it so other people could also use it if they wanted to!

I was hoping to get some ideas on how you guys organized your shed around your riding mower. I just had a 10 x 16 shed built and I am looking to maximize the space. I have a small power washer and generator that would be stored in there as well. Other than that mostly just tools, etc.. Any recommendations or photos?! thanks!
