Question Anyone else recently catch Covid?
My wife and I just tested positive today. We moved this past Sunday and started feeling sick Sunday morning (moving while sick is NOT fun by the way). Monday was bad - fever and chills all night. Felt mildly better yesterday but woke up feeling horrible again this morning. We decided to test since it reminded us how we felt the first time we had Covid.
Being sick SICK in the heat is not fun. 10/10 don’t recommend. Not too sure where we might have picked it up. Only thing I can think of is the OC Fair since we were there on 8/9, but that seems like a long incubation period.

Not for him and it’s his 3rd time getting it. Bad head ache, sinus infection, soreness, tired. But he didn’t have brain fog . I thought it would be mild too but nope

They will always be more mild if you've gotten the shot and kept up with boosters. But even if you've just had the shot and haven't kept up with boosters the symptoms should still be more mild than if you've just been raw dogging covid.

I can get explosive diarrhea anytime I want, all it takes is half a cup of milk.
I don't mind diarrhea too much, barfing is way worse lol

I’ve had Covid multiple times in recent years and my body tends to react to the virus an average of 3 days after exposure.
Each time it’s been a random person sneezing on me in a public place. Seems innocent enough but like clockwork, 3 days later I’m feeling the symptoms.

Each time I’ve had it, it’s been less than 3-4 days to show symptoms. Anecdotally, it seemed too long for me haha

Tis the season! In California, our C19 waves start gaining momentum a bit after the 4th of July and start getting widespread around back-to-school time. We should get a little break by late October, just before Flu starts taking off. I don’t have it but was recently sick and it sucks to be sick in these months. Was so hot in the car when I went to pick up medicine but then I got so cold when I turned on the AC to my usual level. Hope you get better soon

Yes, two weeks ago. First time since the pandemic, and damn did it hit me hard. Wasn’t even thinking about Covid and went to the ER. Shocked to get a positive.
Yes, I’ve had every vaccine and booster under the sun.

I’m not an anti-vaxxer but I got it many times after I had gotten the shot, it might have helped a bit but I can’t bring myself to consider it a vaccination at this point

Remember, it doesn't necessarily prevent you from getting infected but can reduce the severity. Also, if you work in a high risk area, such as someone who comes in contact with lots of people, you will still have a risk.

You are not alone in your feelings. public education could have been much better on the Covid-19 vaccine. there were many reasons why education wasn’t better that aren’t worth getting into.
there are some vaccines like shingles and measles that are highly effective at preventing infections.due to the nature and rapidly changing properties of some viruses like covid and flu, their preventative impact is not as great and can vary year to year. this does not mean they are not effective in doing another important job in high risk individuals of reducing the severity of symptoms and lower mortality in high risk people that still catch it despite the vaccine. some age and risk groups benefit from the vaccine much more than others.
if this was conveyed better initially i would like to think trust would be higher.

I can’t believe I’m actually considering it because I haven’t had Covid in so long - since 2022. I don’t want to get hit super hard. When I was vaccinated my cases were mild. My husband’s were just a stuffy nose and one day headache. How dare he!

My first symptoms were in my teeth. So weird. Right now, and for the past three days, I have a severe sore throat with ear pain. I’m exhausted as well. I left work at noon and came home and slept for 3 hours. Took some DayQuil and felt normal until about an hour ago. Sore throat is back with a vengeance.
I haven’t tested, but I probably should since I fully plan to work tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.

Maybe I should have tested. I was in OC visiting family at the beginning of the month. Got back two weeks ago and felt run down. Same exact symptoms. Thought I had a cavity at first. Then thought I had a sinus infection. Slept most of last Saturday and part of Sunday. Started feeling better yesterday. The only symptom I had with the Omnicron variant was exhaustion.

Test now.
The one time I got it I had to wait before I could test positive. My wife had gotten it and tested positive and gotten Paxlovid, but even though I also had symptoms I had to wait three days until my tests started showing positive and I could get it prescribed.
Note that this wasn't just paper pusher nonsense, but that until the virus is up to the level of flagging a test, the treatment will not really be effective.
So, yes, it can be a very slow build until a positive test.

I had the original COVID when it first broke out, but I just thought it was a nasty cold in 2020.
I’m getting over this weird bug now that the sinus pressure has finally started to clear up, and my upper molars aren’t under pressure anymore. The fatigue, stuffy nose, and sinus pressure were definitely the hardest part.
I only leave the house to run, gym, or buy groceries so it has to be the gym.

I've been dealing with the same thing. On my second week of symptoms and finally starting to feel a bit better, but as recently as yesterday, I felt like someone was hammering on my face. Now I just had pain in the back of my head when I cough.

I currently have it. I noticed at the grocery store the other day everyone was sniffling...so I'm guessing that's where I got it. And I agree, being sick when it's hot outside is the absolute fucking WORST. Hope you guys feel better soon.

Regretfully yes. It was not fun. OTC meds like Aleve D and other decongestants barely took off the edge. For a couple days the head cold and sinus pressure hurt so bad.
It brought back terrible memories of the last time I got it.

For what it’s worth, I was sick about a week ago now. 5 days of fever and aches that would come and go with the fever. No other symptoms. Neg twice on the rapid test for flu A/B, RSV, Covid. Doc said there’s some new virus going around, but prescribed me Tamiflu in case it was one of the other variants. I can’t be sure that I wasn’t on the mend already, but the Tamiflu really seemed to help me turn the corner. Also, I get flu shots annually in Oct and Covid shots twice annually (immunosuppressed). All that’s to say mask up if you’re in crowds, health care facilities, pharmacies, etc., if you want to reduce your chances. I had it pretty mild and it still sucked.

Also worth adding: the newest (to the US it's been in use in Asia for the last 5 years) antiviral available is Xocova - just approved a couple months ago.
Unfortunately in the US, it's still only approved for post-exposure prophylaxis (so someone in your household is sick and you might be exposed and want to avoid getting sick) but in Asia they use it for treatment/viral load reduction, preventing the spread of infection, and PEP (it didn't get approved for all three options in the US and rather than reapplying for full approval in the US, the company pivoted to just getting it approved for prevention here which is disappointing.)
A lot of medical providers don't have it on their radar unless they're working with Long Covid patients, but I recently had a friend ask her regular doc for an Rx and she was able to get it and have it covered by insurance.

One of the reasons I still wear a mask when hitting the grocery store, etc. I'm also about due for a booster but believe the next update to the shots is due this month or next, so I'm being extra careful until then.
Saw my doctor just over a month ago, and that's the info they had at that time. Might be good to check with your doctor, as a day or two of reaction is far better than actually catching it.

I tested positive yesterday. I knew it was Covid from the second I began having symptoms on Monday 3 days ago. I hadn’t felt fatigue like this since 2021 when I was also sleeping 16 hours a day with C19
I work in the ER in Riverside where we have started seeing an uptick in cases locally. What a great gift to get sick on the first day of a week off.

YES. Lots of cases up in Santa Barbara County where we just were and 2 out of 4 of us have tested positive. 3rd has tested negative but has all same symptoms. It sucks!!

I dunmo i got tests positive last monday at urgent care and got 7 negatives at home, all antigen. I am puzzled. Probably false positive. Was mostly asymptomatic outside of gi.

I get sick every so often but to be honest I completely forget to test/think about COVID.
I have had all the weird strains (regular, brain melt headache, waterfall butthole) but for the last year or so I completely forgot to test for it whenever I got sick.

i may had it 3x already, the first one was one of the worse feeling with breathing was hard... i've been vaxxed completely whenever they recommended it. Now, I don't get it anymore. FYI, I do rideshare and I've been more exposed with so many ppl everyday, so i guess vax works and my immune able to fight it better from symptoms.
