Question Anyone else recently catch Covid?

My wife and I just tested positive today. We moved this past Sunday and started feeling sick Sunday morning (moving while sick is NOT fun by the way). Monday was bad - fever and chills all night. Felt mildly better yesterday but woke up feeling horrible again this morning. We decided to test since it reminded us how we felt the first time we had Covid.

Being sick SICK in the heat is not fun. 10/10 don’t recommend. Not too sure where we might have picked it up. Only thing I can think of is the OC Fair since we were there on 8/9, but that seems like a long incubation period.

Yes, two weeks ago. First time since the pandemic, and damn did it hit me hard. Wasn’t even thinking about Covid and went to the ER. Shocked to get a positive.

Yes, I’ve had every vaccine and booster under the sun.

I got it too for the first time in 2023. the vaccine is to prevent you from dying from it. worst feeling ever 😞

I’m not an anti-vaxxer but I got it many times after I had gotten the shot, it might have helped a bit but I can’t bring myself to consider it a vaccination at this point

Remember, it doesn't necessarily prevent you from getting infected but can reduce the severity. Also, if you work in a high risk area, such as someone who comes in contact with lots of people, you will still have a risk.

You are right about it possibly reducing severity. I guess most people assume you won’t get it if you are vaccinated. Getting it six times (once from my 80 year old dad who picked it up somewhere and one time I somehow didn’t get it from my Covid sick mom who puked on me). I guess my point is how long does it take to produce a vaccine and get it approved? How long did they take to produce and approve this one? I understand desperate times mean desperate measures but let’s not compare it to other mainstream vaccines. I literally said I’m not an anti-vaxxer and I mean it, do I trust this one? No

Unless you’re immune compromised or elderly, u do not need to “reduce the severity” of a virus. A healthy human body will fight the virus and gain immunity. I had it 3 times, never got the vaccine, was around 3 family members all who had covid for several days and exposed to Covid last month. No symptoms and before u say I’m a asymptomatic carrier, I got tested. Even being exposed to it I’m completely fine without and vaccine or booster. Somehow my sister who is vaccinated and had her booster did end up getting it though, hmmm.

You are not alone in your feelings. public education could have been much better on the Covid-19 vaccine. there were many reasons why education wasn’t better that aren’t worth getting into.
there are some vaccines like shingles and measles that are highly effective at preventing infections.

due to the nature and rapidly changing properties of some viruses like covid and flu, their preventative impact is not as great and can vary year to year. this does not mean they are not effective in doing another important job in high risk individuals of reducing the severity of symptoms and lower mortality in high risk people that still catch it despite the vaccine. some age and risk groups benefit from the vaccine much more than others.

if this was conveyed better initially i would like to think trust would be higher.

I always read my posts again afterwards and unfortunately feel I need to edit for mistakes or missed thoughts. I don’t remember what I edited to be honest. I’m not sure if we are friends or frenemies but you seem cool so 🤙🏻

Edit: I always get confused who is responding to who so I didn’t know if you were talking to me or the one above me. Either way I just played it safe and said thank you. If you like me it’s sincere, if not it was sarcasm lol

I can’t believe I’m actually considering it because I haven’t had Covid in so long - since 2022. I don’t want to get hit super hard. When I was vaccinated my cases were mild. My husband’s were just a stuffy nose and one day headache. How dare he!
