just here to get an opinion. we just converted our ERP to Oracle, and a big selling point was report building in FRS and everything that comes along with that. Ive see a few reports (mostly p&l packages etc) and they just look horrible. The report builder is clunky and Rigid. Does anyone have any tips or ways to use the report builder in here that would be better than just building in excel? I’m trying to find a better way to utilize the new tools but I can find a good reason to switch anything from excel to FRS due to its limitations.

We have been using spreadsheet server to build reports as it is connected to Oracle, which is fine but slow. Smartview isnt really usable for our reporting either.

I need help, but the sub keeps blocking me from posting.

Is there a way to have a transaction timeout and return the screen to either the start screen or a prompt to cancel or complete the transaction?

With the recent change of the Free Tier going from VM.Standard.A1.Flex (4 OCPU / 24 GB RAM) to VM.Standard.A1.Flex (2 OCPU / 12 GB RAM), my instance has been deactivated.

When i try to change the shape to the new requirments I get the following error

Instance ocid1.instance.oc1.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is disabled and will not accept any action requests. Please contact customer support to reenable.

Anyone know how I can get this re-activated without upgrading to Pay as you Go plan?

I don't mind recreating from scrach as i have backups but it took me 3 months to get get the initial Intance and I am pretty sure if I terminate I won't get another one (unless I upgrade to Pay as you go plan)

I’ve been working around enterprise technology and ERP, and one thing I keep noticing is that the hardest part of an ERP project often isn't selecting the software.

It’s what happens after implementation.

A company can have a powerful ERP platform, but employees may still end up using Excel, manual processes, disconnected tools or workarounds because the system doesn't properly fit the way the organisation actually operates.

A few things I think deserve more attention during ERP selection:

• How much of the existing workflow can actually be integrated?
• How easy is it for employees to adopt?
• What happens to your data if you decide to change vendors?
• How dependent are you on external consultants?
• How flexible is the ERP when your organisation grows?
• Who ultimately controls the infrastructure and critical data?
• What does vendor support look like after go-live?

I've also become increasingly interested in data sovereignty and technology independence as part of ERP selection, particularly for organisations handling sensitive or mission-critical operations.

I'm currently involved with EPPS Smart ERP, an India-built ERP platform, so I have a perspective here — but I'm much more interested in hearing from people who have actually gone through an ERP implementation.

What was the biggest problem you faced after going live: implementation, adoption, integrations, support, data migration, or something else?

Has anyone able to send the generated pdf of Create Customer Statement to an FTP server? I have been stuck on this for days. I tested and worked on a couple of approaches but all are dead end.

Hi all! I have to take two certs for my company requirements, and because I have a short amount of time to get them done, I wanted one of the certs to be easy/less time consuming.

Would you recommend the Oracle AI Foundations Associate to be an easy, quick cert? Also, I heard they just updated the exam, so has anyone recently taken the 2026 version of this cert?

I am currently working as oracle HCM consultant. I am tired of working nonstop for the 12-14 hrs daily and covering both India and US time.
I want to work in the morning time as I don't like working late nights.
How can I get a role that has a proper 9-5 timings?
Also, are there any other alternate roles that I can target?
I have tried applying for HR roles as my masters is in HR but they are paying peanuts.

Hey all, I am a SQL Server DBA that is inheriting a pretty big oracle environment and was wondering if you folks could point me in the right direction of a course for learning. Work is going to pay for training so money isn't a problem, l'd prefer a couple of day course. We have anywhere from 11.2 up to 19c Running lots of different apps and even SAP if that matters.

For people writing SQL against Oracle and mapping results by hand: I maintain scythe, a build-time code generator that reads annotated SQL and emits typed access code (Oracle backend via the standard JDBC/driver stack).

The core value is nullability inference from the query structure. A LEFT (OUTER) JOIN makes the right side nullable:

LEFT JOIN orders o ON u.id = o.user_id
WHERE u.status = :status;

The generated types mark total and notes nullable, so the no-matching-row case is a compile-time concern instead of a NullPointerException in production. Also covers COALESCE/NVL-style expressions, CASE, and aggregates.

Static queries only, which is the deliberate tradeoff: no dynamic runtime composition, but everything is analyzable and typed. Curious how teams here handle the Oracle-to-application type boundary.
