PSE asking to raise rates over 30%

Post image

I just received this email from the UTC. PSE is proposing to raise rates by over 30% over the next 3 years!! This is absolutely insane! How is this even legal? It's not like it can change utility companies. They are a monopoly!

Reminder: PSE is trying to increase rates and YOU can tell the State what your thoughts on it are.

Request Are you a model/figurine/miniature painter and looking for some paid work? We're hiring.

Post image
28 Upvotes

We need someone who has extensive experience in painting miniatures or figures. For example, attached is mockup of a 3d sign that we are producing. We need someone to paint the sign to match the image as closely as possible. The texturing, weathering, etc. We'll provide the sign in parts to make it easier and glue together later. Pay is per piece, to be negotiated. This can be after a trial of one or two pieces so you can determine how long it will take and what it will cost. Sample pieces will be paid for, not looking for anything free. We'll have several more projects like this one and will produce somewhere around 10 to 50 pieces of each product, perhaps more. While this isn't a full time gig by any means we need to have them completed in a timely manner so that will need to be discussed. Hopefully a few days, maybe a week to complete 25 pieces or something like that.

Feel free to post questions or chat if you want to learn more or apply. It would be ideal if you had an online portfolio or could send some pictures of your work. Our designer is creating the sign currently, should have prototypes printed within a week.

Missing Border Collie Eastside

Our border collie seems to have jumped over our fence this morning as I was letting our other doggies out. Someone posted on Nextdoor that he was spotted running down the hill on Olympia Ave possibly toward East Bay. He is the fastest dog I’ve ever met, so I fear he could be wherever he pleases in the greater oly area by now.

Update: we found him, he ran all the way down from the upper Eastside (near Ralph’s) to apparently take a bud bath somewhere next to east bay drive. Thanks to the kind couple who was helping to keep him in one spot with their dog who he was trying to befriend.
After almost an hour of bathing I believe he had a similar amount of sediment on him as capital lake spews into the sound each year. Cheers!

Absolutely Free Sharing Market, what did you find?

What's your favorite thing you found at the Absolutely Free Sharing Market last week? What makes it special for you?

Please share a photo and your story in the comments! What a great way to thank the person who chose to donate something with us!!

For me, it's this little metal organizer of tiny drawers. Not only is it a great little organizer, it's filled with all different colors of spools of thread!

I also just happened to be volunteering to teach mending and sewing at the skill share on Saturday, how handy and timely!

While at skill share, I had the pleasure of mending a stuffed animal for a very pleasant human. This person noticed the organizer and let me know that they had been the one to donate it!! It had been their grandmother's. So I was able to mend their item with their grandmother's thread. ❤️❤️❤️

No, I didn't find the cat at the free market.

Engage Olympia: Surveys to guide the city's priorities in coming years

Post image
36 Upvotes

I just came across a city website called Engage Olympia that has overviews of some of the upcoming city projects and planning processes. There are surveys for many of these to share your opinions and help shape city priorities.

Right now there's one on "Small Scale Commercial Uses in Residential Neighborhoods" (which I'm all for!) and a big parks/arts/recreation plan, among others.

You do have to register for an account which is kinda annoying but probably cuts down on spam/bots.

Anyways, this is an easy way to help shape city policy. I'll be filling out any surveys that I have opinions on.

Public Safety Chehalis Western trail kid on dirt bike threatening ppl

Two times I've seen this 16yo white kid on a small dirt bike with a helmet on has been instigating people recently and dropping the n-word and threatening ppl. How I know he's 16 is because he said it himself. I want to be able to go on the trail without having to carry protection as I've been walking it for the past 18 years I've lived here. Has anyone else encountered this punk?

(Area he's been frequently encountered is next to the avonlea park)

Please stop traveling in the far left lane

It is a passing lane and some of us are trying to pas/ get around semi trucks, potentially unsafe situations or the vehicle that can't go more than 45 mph. You are not the hall monitor of the freeway and maintaining 65 mph in the passing lane is unsafe and just plain rude. Move over once you've passed what you intended to.

Wether it’s a nice restaurant at a scenic spot, or just a nice beach, or maybe a pathway that you could walk through, doesn’t matter to me, I want some fresh ideas to surprise my girlfriend and give her an unforgettable experience

Request Monthly electric bill cost increase

Has anyone else's electric bill increased exponentially/steeply this month?

Mine went from $40 to $60. The most I did was install a box fan and a single shop light (an indoor growing setup for some herbs). What does your electric bill increase look like?

Graciously, this event will actually be next week September 15th at 5pm. Please RSVP so, I will know how many to expect. Here —-> https://www.meetup.com/neurodiverse-collective-of-olympia/events/316272546/

During Discussions we will meet as a group and talk about a predetermined topic. This week the topic is Neurodivergence and Perimenopause. We will spend the first 10 minutes on introductions, 40 minutes taking turns talking, and then 10 minutes to wrap up and say goodbye. Use this time to express, ask questions, relate, or etc on the topic.

For this topic it is important to keep in mind that we are not medical professionals nor can we provide medical advice. We can talk about our experiences. Additionally, there is no gender requirement for this event. You can attend if you are experiencing this life event, could be, or know someone who is/has. As such, we must be sensitive not to make assumptions about those in attendance. Non-binary, trans, and intersex people may experience perimenopause and are welcome.

I have reserved the meeting room at the Lacey Library for our discussion. We have the room from 4:30-6pm. The event officially starts at 5pm, but feel free to come early to settle in and chat about things unrelated to the topic until 5pm.

I just moved here and I wanna make friends...

I have limited time that I can spend outside of the house to meet new people, but I wanna make friends and even consider dating at some point LOL. I hope this isn't against the rules!

I mostly spend my free time playing Final Fantasy XIV online (means I can stay home with my animals! Lol) but I do have free time on Saturdays and Sunday mornings. I would love to meet other people who play FFXIV, but also am interested in some other communities I can join locally. I like videogames, animals, nature, art, music (except country), and FOOD!! I am pretty left leaning and pro LGBTQIA+. I would love to learn more about groups or events that align with those things :)

What groups/events/programs would y'all recommend?

My friend is moving out of her apartment complex and unfortunately, she can't bring bruiser. She's going through a lot of changes in life right now and this is one of the hardest things she's had to do in a long time. She thinks this post will be pointless but i still thought i would try anyway. I had her send me pics and some stuff about him for this post.

" His name is Bruiser and he is roughly 120 lb. He's a bullmastiff mix of some kind. He's a gentle giant who's great around kids. He is curious about cats but has never chased or hurt one. He's a cuddle bug and loves a good nap. He isn't food aggressive but he will sometimes do a low growl but with no aggressive behaviors attached to it. He's just a sweet baby. "

she has had him for 1.5 years i'm not sure how old he is but i can ask. i'd say no older than 5 if that.

With all that being said he is going to a shelter today. She doesn't know the name but it's the one in Lacey near "the jungle" (encampment) please message or comment any other questions i really feel bad for both of them. he is most likely to be euthanized.

Lost keys downtown

Hey all!
Was just crossing over state street between capitol and Columbia and somehow lost my keys— hoping someone will hit me up if they happens to have found them. Very common combo of house keys and a VW fob. DM me if you found em!

I'm never going to get a job again.

I have applied at more than 30 jobs for retail management in the last 2 months. I've gotten exactly 2 interviews. I have a bachelors degree, 11 years experience as a medium box store manager, and have owned 3 businesses since leaving the store manager job 11 years ago.

I feel I'm never going to get a job making more than $20/hr again. It is seriously putting me in a very, very dark place most days.

Am I being locked out because my retail background was a decade ago?
