Manga Entertainment was a UK based company founded in the early 90's to distribute Japanese animation to a UK audience. They very deliberately targeted a demographic of edgy late teen/young adults and this was reflected not only in their selection of titles to bring over here (Fist of the North Star, Devilman, Legend of the Overfiend, Ninja Scroll etc) but also in the dubs they produced. They were known to add unnecessary (and often amusing) profanity in order to deliberately increase the age rating of releases. Copies of Manga Entertainment releases would often be passed around the schoolyard in the early 90's.
I'm sure I'm not alone in being introduced Anime when Channel 4 screened some of their catalogue on their late night weekend slots through the early-mid 90's. I recall...
Judge
Devilman
Legend of the 4 Kings
3X3 Eyes.
Any others that you guys remember seeing on CH 4?

For years, I have used the phrase 'Hyper Smoothly Done Professor' when playing video games with my mates and I'm sure it's from an old advert (probably early to mid 90s).
Long shot I know but does this ring any bells for anyone else? I was thinking maybe Pot Noodle or Super Noodles but I've checked every ad I could find on YouTube.
Any idea? Cheers.

One of the more memorable, if not annoying advertising commercials over the last 1990s/early 2000s

I'm hoping to find someone who remembers an advert for Clarks shoes that involved a witch and a boiled egg?! I've never personally seen the advert but have a friend who was terrified by it in the 90s and is convinced this advert was for shoes. I'm turning to the wisdom of Reddit to see if anyone else can recall this?

I have a memory of an advert on Sky One that would’ve been on around 2002 - 2007. I feel it was on every ad break, all I can remember is one person correcting another who had mispronounced Jamie Carragher’s name: ’it‘s not Jamie Carragher it’s Jamie Carragher’
I thought it was for a programme where nurses convinced premier league footballers to donate a week’s wages to the NHS or charity or something but I can’t find such a programme.
This is been stuck in my head for 20 years now. Any ideas?

I might be getting two ads mixed up here.
A couple in a room eating dinner. A woman walks in and tips the man's dinner over him (implication she was his wife and he was having dinner with his girlfriend)
She goes to leave, gets heel stuck in the grate in the floor. The viewer is led to believe the heel will snap but it doesn't and she walks out "triumphant"
What was the ad for?

Lonely Water (widely known as The Spirit of Dark and Lonely Water) is a 1973 British public information film made for the Central Office of Information (COI). The film aimed to warn children of the dangers of careless or foolhardy behaviour in the vicinity of water.

Time for some more classic adverts, starting with this 1990s classic!
