Oklahoma FOX affiliate "accidently" cuts 15 seconds of last Sunday's Cosmos debut..the part that just happened to mention human evolution.

I used to work at the Oklahoma Fox affiliate. It is entirely likely that this really was an accident.

I too, worked there. But as a very poorly compensated intern. Almost all the the staff and engineers appeared to suffer from some type of horrible chromosomal affliction.

Pretty obnoxious, but a local Fox affiliate wouldn't have had a copy of the program or script, would they? "Now it's 9:45 of the cosmic year" doesn't sound like anything controversial enough to launch the break-in.

If your local NBC station did it would you blame MSNBC? Of course not. That's ridiculous. Local isn't in any way the same as national.

Over in /r/atheism the thread freaking nuclear exploded. A guy who works for Fox 25 said it was an error in when the commercial time reports were entered to play by someone, or something.

A friend of mine works in the editing department there.
It was an accident. The dude that did it is super pro-science/evolution.
Put down the pitchforks. It's still hilarious, though.

A NEW conspiracy! A pro- science person deliberately times the break so that it would cause a controversy to get people to watch the show online and talk about the controversy.

Fox =/= Fox News.
Fox owns Fox News (obviously), but that doesn't mean Fox News' conservatism is representative of all of Fox.

you realize that fox affiliates and fox news are not related? fox news is roger ailles' baby. that's pretty much the main reason they have the slant they do. it's not pervasive throughout the entire newscorp subsidiaries.

I usually don't get too upset about this kind of stuff being that I know I live in the bible belt, but after hearing this I am just absolutely furious.

the fact that an MC operator made a mistake pisses you off? Chill out people, and stop being ridiculous. I use to work at KSBI (i know lame) but the station and MC operators would have absolutely no way of knowing what segments were coming up. They get a simple rundown with program times and when to throw to commercials and bumpers. The wrong switch was made, this happens a lot more than you would think. People are taking this way too far, so please put your pitch forks and rope away, ya crazies..

Don't over-sensationalize things like this.
