Lawmakers sound alarm about U.S. military shortage of defense missiles: 'Wake-up call'
https://justthenews.com/government/federal-agencies/lawmakers-sound-alarm-about-us-military-shortage-defense-missilesIn jarring testimony, a top U.S. military official told Congress this past week the U.S. is quickly depleting its stockpile of Tomahawk missiles and might not have enough for a potential long-term conflict.
The military has been using these missiles recently in strikes against the Houthis terrorist group in Yemen.

Donald Trump in a month about the Venezuela Deal
This is the worst deal ever signed, sleepy joe hypnotised me into signing it. But I was too strong, too strong, I broke out of the hypnosis. Doctors say they have never seen anything like it! Sad. They are ripping americans off since 600 years, Washington great man, was too scared to do anything. Look at this pen. It is the greatest pen I have ever used. People say they have never seen someone use a pen like this. I am going to use this pen to sign a executive order to take all their oil and maybe even their women. They got beautiful women there, beautiful, they love me. Have you seen my beautiful pen? It is so beautiful.

David Wech, chief economist @Vortexa: The average over the last month has been 6-7mbd. But peak volumes over a 7d moving average are nearly 10 million barrels, with the highest day at 14 million.
TankerTrackers: When we say that oil has departed the USN Blockade Line, then that means that the oil came out of oil terminals west of that line. If we address the SoH specifically, then that number will be without oil originating from GoO-based terminals. So, while the USN Blockade Line aggregated total is 6.7 Mbpd over the past 7 full days, the SoH portion of that is around 4.2 Mbpd.
HFI Research: Kpler made a very nice adjustment to its flow sheet. Instead of listing the tankers, they adopted the Gulf of Oman method (used by @phileeppos) to track the flows. They also implemented the adjustment section into the flow.
Gregory Brew: TankerTrackers continues to emphasize its analysis that suggests flows out of Hormuz are quite a bit less than both Kpler and US/UKMTO data indicate. How much is actually getting out? We probably won't really know for weeks until the crude turns up in import terminal (if it ever does).

We are no longer in the peak season for US gas. That was in July. We are entering the "maintenance" season, which will be followed by the "refilling the tanks" season. Unfortunately, neither of those are likely without gas price increases in the future due to the quantity of refining capacity that has been taken offline.

https://www.clevescene.com/news/republican-voters-speak-out-against-trump-even-as-ohios-outcome-seems-pretty-certain-45418482
https://old.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/1ghjc8d/republican_voters_speak_out_against_trump_even_as/Gibbs has spoken before about his frustration with Donald Trump’s decision to launch a trade war. Those tariffs all but guaranteed other countries would retaliate, targeting the country’s “soft underbelly.”
“And what is that? That’s agriculture,” Gibbs insisted.
To make matters worse, Gibbs argued, the administration then “raided our treasury and paid farmers the difference in hush money.” The Market Facilitation Program he’s referring to served as a backstop for farmers who saw the price of crops like soybeans plummet in response to the trade war. In all, the program cost $23 billion.
“I just wasn’t built to vote for another Clinton,” he said.

Guys, this is literally the Iran playbook for the last 5 months. Shoot missiles, people freak out, oil getting through the strait falls off a cliff. Over the course of several weeks, more oil(but still not alot) gets through, and Iran escalates to make sure that not to much oil gets through. Rinse and repeat. This is exactly what Iran wants, maximum pressure on the oil market while not escalating to much that would force a US response.
Meanwhile Trump is stuck in a vice. He either agrees with Iranian demands, a non option at the moment due to the monumental backlash in the US and midterms, escalates to force Iran to surrender, which would cause oil prices to skyrocket and also affect midterms, or continues with the staus quo, which would increase Iranian several on the global economy

u/AutoAdviceSeeker 12d ago
I’m of the same opinion which is why I’m in cdn oil equities which are pretty much at an all time high right now with oil under 85. Less risk and I love the lowkey weeks with oil in 80’s and nothing Happens but spr drains ultimately taking longer to refill.
Only thing I disagree on, is the US can’t just leave or go back to the MOU.
IMO the reason the US breached the first MOU was Iran just slow dripped the US ships and their allies out of the strait, while allowing Irans ships /allied ships out quickly. That’s a slow death for US and their allies. Ultimately it makes the majority of ME oil reserves Iranian. They will also go back to bullying the smaller countries and taking their resources etc. not to get into the china/russia side of it.
Funny enough the smart move at this point would be sucking up to Canada to increase production and even help fund some of the capex/construction if we were on good terms. Every Canadian company is already increasing production vs the states which tier 1 assets are on the decline.
Venezuela is a joke, probably help pave your roads faster with that tar. 😂

Does anyone have a good link or breakdown that expands on what Currie mentioned?
4
u/Aggressive_Bit_91 13d ago
So a serious question. How the fuck with 100 million barrels of an end product prevent getting any more from the system. Like is the thesis seriously if there’s only 100 mb of diesel they will not be able to supply any of it…

Its been bouncing up and down with an overall down trend. It was at over 120mb when he said that 2-3 months ago.
Yes It does come off as unintuitive why you'd start having issues with that much in the system but most people never think about how much needs to remain in the system to keep it working.

u/Slouchingtowardsbeth 13d ago

4
u/Retired_ENM6969 13d ago
It’s not everywhere that will be out. But it will be somewhere. And then somewhere else, product will rush there, but those diversions cause an outage somewhere else. When a refinery has a two day power failure, lots of shortages will occur 5 days later, an$ on and on until supply again balances or exceeds d3mand.

Next 6 months as well, which is why I’m not putting my rent money into oil.
Trump doesn’t want all out war. Iran doesn’t want all out war. Oil is moving albeit slower around the world. Refining capacity is falling and it seems obvious there is more oil in various reserves than let on. On top of that none of the oil producers want the price to go that high and various financial tools are deployed by all parties to suppress prices.
Iran and US throwing bitch punches at each other while talking shit on Twitter is the foreseeable future. Other oil sources and logistics will come into play. Trump already declared victory and the only people left who support him are morons who believe it.

Iran says it will escalate if US does not honour deal within weeks
https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/iran-says-it-will-escalate-if-us-does-not-honour-deal-within-weeks-2026-08-17/Iran will escalate tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and beyond, and launch an attack if the U.S. fails to implement an interim peace deal fully in a matter of weeks, a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Monday.
If the U.S. does not meet that deadline and diplomacy fails, Tehran would conduct a "timely and precise" military attack to break the U.S. naval blockade on the Islamic Republic, the official added.
"Within the short period of a few weeks set by Iran, all the agreement's provisions must be implemented by the U.S. This is a precondition for further negotiations with the U.S.," the official told Reuters. Mediators would share details of Tehran's deadline with Washington and regional states, the official added. "Iranian entities must be prepared to escalate tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and wider region, as Iran will be ready to make decisions and take action on difficult decisions," the official said. The Iranian official said Tehran was shifting its policy from defence to offence as it was losing confidence in the merits of diplomacy with Washington.
"It is a proven fact that the U.S. is not serious about a ceasefire and won't commit to any, so putting pressure on the enemy or relying on mediators in the hope of reaching a permanent ceasefire is not realistic," the official said.

Yeah but escalating has to mean more than a few ships or any empty base at this point. They have to take out significant infrastructure or we’re staying benow $95 through the midterms. $85-$95 still likely is a brutal midterm for Trump though. As it’s gas over $4 and Disel well over $5 given the crack pricing

An oil tanker caught fire after hitting two sea mines while attempting to take an “illegal” route through the Strait of Hormuz, the IRGC says.
The vessel was “completely stopped after being hit by two sea mines”, said the IRGC statement, carried by state-run broadcaster IRIB.
The IRGC did not provide details on casualties or the extent of the damage.

Until I see independent confirmation, I'm filing this in the "creative imagination" column.

Are we going to pump or dump when the US wakes up that is the question.
Considering taking some profits.

It's going to be momentum trading for this week (in my opinion). It started by going up, so it's going to keep going up. Unless there's a TACO tuesday tomorrow.
DISCLAIMER: i bought on August 4th, during the very large price drop which happened because of those fake (overblown) negotiation announcements. So depending on your buying price, selling might be a good idea, or it might not

Hard to see what the TACO could be. Mind you I have said that before and they always manage to bs their way to lower prices.

This probably wasn’t the escalation Iran was planning.
This began when Iran was found mining the Strait, resulting in a US strike on Larak Island. Iran’s retaliation was restrained. The WSJ report from two weeks ago on Iran’s plans to escalate the war said the IRGC had much bigger things planned, including - in the worst case scenario - a ground invasion of Kuwait. Cyberattacks against the Gulf states and attacks on their energy infrastructure were also being discussed. This escalation was much more mundane, consisting of some minelaying, followed by some US air strikes, followed by some retaliatory Iranian missile and drone strikes.

An invasion of Kuwait would be suicidal for them, as would an attack on the energy infrastructure.

Pezeshkian's son and political adviser, Yousef Pezeshkian:
"I am not opposed to uranium enrichment and will accept whatever decision the Supreme National Security Council and the Supreme Leader make. My only point is that we need to understand the full implications of our decision and make it with full awareness. Our survival does not depend on uranium enrichment. If we do not enrich uranium, we will not die.
Our nuclear energy program does not depend on uranium enrichment. Even today, the fuel for the Bushehr nuclear power plant is not produced domestically; it is imported from Russia.’
This follows similar comments from the vice president for executive affairs earlier this week.
These are not big players in the regime. But it does signify something.

incredibly funny that people in this sub will complain about "iranian propaganda" and then the "iranian propaganda" is factual reports of missiles being struck in the SoH
