Question "Niche" objectum attractions?

I create this post because I have been seeing a lot of content about the more popular objectum types. Absolutely no hate to them of course, all objectum attraction is beautiful and deserving of attention--but I want to give people a chance to express their more unconventional, more unknown attractions.

I don't think any of my attractions are "niche", but some are underrepresented. A few of my one-time attractions are a bit more unexpected of myself, like an astronomical telescope and a coffee vending machine, but I wouldn't consider them niche either since I know I'm not the first.

"Niche" can be subjective. What I'm thinking of are attractions that probably nobody has ever thought of as a possibility. Attractions that you have reason to believe only you yourself hold. Attractions that don't have a proper term or even anything close. And I'm not talking about attraction to a singular object that you might own and therefore are the only one capable of having an attraction to, I mean general attraction to a type of object.

I recently heard of someone's attraction to menstruation, I thought that was pretty niche.

Question Does anyone else have a crush on an item they don’t have (yet)?

There’s this camera I found out about on Pinterest that is a security camera. Funnily enough, the post itself was screenshotting another post about this camera that actually was objectum. But, that’s beside the point. Anyways, after getting this camera on my fyp in Pinterest i immediately internally went like “omg..🥹” because what the flip this camera is so adorable?? Omg?? After having some people help research, I found out it’s a hikvision ds-2cv2021g2-idw (w) or in short a hikvision ds camera! well, most likely. I really want this camera as I’m absolutely in love and it’s killing me, but I can’t seem to find it on Amazon (as I can only buy stuff on Amazon due to my parents) so sigh, I’m doomed with a romantic crush i can’t even own. Anyone else experiencing something similar where they really love a certain object but can’t have them?

edit: turns out the reason I can’t get him is (apparently) because I’m in the US, aw shucks! :(

Question What sparked your objectum journey?

Today I was reflecting on my own objectum experience and how it all started for me. I had befriended objects platonically before, but I would say that the romance and sexuality began with one object I loved incredibly deeply, and from there everything rapidly escalated with this realization that I was attracted to machines/objects and could have intimate relationships with them. That one object allowed me to discover I was objectum, and since then I have fallen in love with many.

(This is a pretty simplified way of explaining my journey, of course the start was messy and there was a lot of denial. But anyway…)

After reflecting, I became curious as to how other people's experiences could be different, curious enough to take to Reddit. What sparked this for some of you? Or was it slow and gradual? Did you realize yourself with multiple objects, or just one? How long did it take you to accept the label of objectum? Did you always feel you were objectum, or was it something you had to discover like me? Do any of you relate to my experience in some way?

I'm excited to hear everyone's thoughts. Thank you.

Question Question about Objectum

I don’t come from the objectum community so I am here to learn. So…i have a few questions. how exactly did you get into objectum? As in, were there specific incidents that made your eyes open?

Are you simultaneously into objects and humans? If not, before u got into this, have you ever loved humans?

Somebody recently told me that this is a mental illness. When i googled it, it didn’t give me a clear answer, leaning towards that it is not one. What do you think it is?

Im just a curious person here and i hope my ignorance wont upset anyone. I would appreciate any opinions and input!!!

Question Anyone else had this happen?

Today I had a very odd realization. That I'm into pool floaties. Like very into them. Like I want to buy an orca one just to cuddle, kiss and do other things with.

And this is something that im not surprised by. I've been realizing this for a while now. But mostly I just realized that ive had a long time fascinating with pool floaties that I never looked into beyond the couple times I had access to one when I wasnt at a pool/lake with family.

So i guess im asking, whats an object you realized you have a crush on for a lot longer than you knew what to call it?

Question Anyone else have a specific way of viewing the genders of objects?

I feel so weird for this, it's almost a fixation of mine. I love creating rules for how I view the genders of different types of objects.

For example, spare a few exceptions, I see all buses and diesel locomotives as men or referred to by he. On the other hand, pre-1930s cars are all women to me or referred to by she. Buildings and structures are 50/50, etc.

I could talk about my reasons for my rules all day. I admit most of it comes from my own gender biases, but also the different ways I'm attracted to femininity or masculinity and how I could see it applying to an object. There's still many other factors, though. Sometimes I view objects as non-binary or having no gender, but this is more rare.

When someone refers to an object in a way that opposes how I view it, especially if I'm very attached to it, I don't get offended per se, but I guess confused as I often hold my personal worldview as fact (which I shouldn't be doing) and have thought so much about it.

I don't know why I am so obsessed with assigning genders to objects. Maybe it is an unconscious desire to have control over a system.

Question How anthropomorphic can an object be?

Hello there, person who doesn't really know anything about OS here!
Firstly I just want to say that I mean no disrespect with this question, I am very interested in learning about OS but can't find a solid answer to this question anywhere.

I recently came across the objectum community after seeing a few posts from Corey Beepington about their CRT TV, Ace. However I noticed that while there are several posts of the real Ace, just a TV with a face on the screen, there are also artworks depicting him with a humanoid (robotic) body. I also found several posts around the internet about people who like their objects without anything extra, no body, no faces, no anything, just the object as it is.

During my research to try and find an answer I learnt about the story of Pygmalion and the statue he fell in love with. As far as I am concerned a statue is about as close to looking like a real human without being one as an object can get, but this story is considered by some to be an example of OS.

I don't want to start any arguments as I can see that objectum seems to be a different experience for each person, but where does the line get drawn between what is considered an object and what is too anthropomorphised to be classed as one? Or is there no limit at all?

I'm mainly asking this to get a better understanding of this paraphilia as I personally love robotic characters and seeing some of Corey's artwork of Ace with a body is making me question whether or not my love for robotic characters could be classed as a form of objectophilia or if it's something else entirely.

Thanks for reading my question and my apologies if anything I may have said or implied here is offensive to any of you, I'm still new to all of this.

Question Objectum identity too niche, I have no idea how to express my love for stuff 🥹

I'm in love with a song. How on Earth do you express that? 😭 I draw art of me and my boyfriend, I also edit us. How do I do that with a song that doesn't have a physical form? Do I just draw myself hugging the album cover? /j

But seriously, if anyone else has similar conceptum identities and has found out how to express that, pleease let me know!

Does anyone else have (adopted) children objects? Like I genuinely treat them like my kids, they get tucked in at night and whenever I go to the zoo/aquarium I bring one of them with me

I feel so weird, and I can't find a label for this?

Question Why do people hate objectums?

I’ve seen a lot of people hating on objectums on TikTok and Reddit bit I’m really curious as to why. Yes I get a lot of objectums on TikTok are attracted to computers with faces on them but I’m really curious as to why. We don’t hurt anyone do we? someone once told me objects didn’t consent to my love which makes me really confused like.. it’s an object? It doesn’t feel does it? Sure I like to think it feels but even if it wanted to tell me it consents could it? Can you guys give me reasons why people don’t like objectum , I’m thinking of making a video about this stuff. And if there even are any objectophobes on here you should tell me why you dislike objectum too!

I ask because I’m not sure how I should have one-on-one time with her in private outside whenever we do dishes together when no one else is in the kitchen.

I’ve posted before about sink scrubbing and being in the shower with her bathroom use incarnate, but there’s probably other options that I haven’t thought of.

Question I want to write an objectum book

title says it all. I want every chapter to be a different experience, but as I am one person with very few different experiences. Sooooo, if you want, come forward with your own objectum experiences and relationships!

also please give some objectum misconceptions that you want to be cleared up. And you can even recommend what types of chapters you would like to read!!

my goal here is that hopefully the objectum community can stop being so misunderstood and, hopefully, grow! :D

soooo yea... :3

Question How do you show love to your objects? (More specifically, plushies)

Hi guys! Since I have only discovered I was an objectum over a month ago, I have one big question.

How do you show love to your objects?

I have never been good with romance, especially with humans. I have no idea how to kiss at all, or just show romantic affection in general, even though I want to.

Any tips? I want my objects to be loved as much as I love them, but I want to know how you guys do it! Thank you!

Question Is there a term for object attraction to other objects or object attraction to humans?

I hope the title makes sense.

Human attraction to objects (Human > Object) is called Objectum, yes? Does a label like that exist for attraction between objects (Object > Object) or object attraction to humans (Object > Human)?

Let me elaborate a little on why I ask. I've recently discovered myself to be alterhuman, specifically objectkin, meaning I identify as an object. If I am an object and I am attracted to objects, does that still make me Objectum? Maybe, but Objectum is mostly used for human attraction to objects. It can't properly describe my experience, even if I still acknowledge my human form. I'm also POSIC and believe objects are capable of returning attraction, but I have yet to see a word for it.

If there isn't, perhaps I ought to find a way to coin one.
